This is our first look at the 2022 Genesis G80 Sport with a slightly more dynamic design than the standard model. Ever since the latest-generation G80 was unveiled, there has been speculation that Genesis would launch a Sport variant, as that’s exactly what it did with the previous G80. While technical specifications about the new model haven’t been announced, these images showcase a number of unique features. Found at the front of the 2022 G80 Sport is a grille finished in dark glossy chrome and a revised front bumper that is sharper and more aggressive than lesser G80s. The dark glossy chrome finish continues across the sides of the luxury sedan. A unique set of 20-inch alloy wheels are also featured as are brake calipers available in black and red. BMW has just unveiled the second-generation 4-Series Gran Coupe prior to its U.S. launch in August. Compared to its predecessor, the new 4-Series Gran Coupe is 5.9-inches longer, 1-inch wider, and 2.1-inches taller. The track has also grown by 1.6-inches in the front and 0.7 inches in the rear while the wheelbase is 1.8-inches longer than before. Those in the U.S. will be able to buy it in 430i Gran Coupe and M440i xDrive Gran Coupe variants. Power for the 430i Gran Coupe comes courtesy of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is rated at 255 hp and 296 lb-ft of torque, allowing the car to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 5.8 seconds. The M440i xDrive Gran Coupe offers up much more performance than this thanks to the use of a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder that works alongside a 48-volt starter-generator. BMW took the wraps off the sporty i4 M50 today. The marriage of the i and M subbrands, the car will be the first electric M car ever produced. Well, at least according to the German automaker, as to our ears it sounds more like an M Performance recipe than a thoroughbred M model. Finished in Frozen Portimao Blue and featuring blacked-out trim and carbon fiber add ons, the 2022 BMW i4 M50 promises to bring the visual flair and aggression of the M brand into the brand’s electric future. To ensure it can keep up with the rest of the M lineup, it will offer a combined output of 536 horsepower (544 PS) and 586 lb-ft of torque from its two electric motors, including a 255hp front and 308hp rear motor, controlled by a single speed transmission. However, note that those peak figures are achieved momentarily through a Sport Boost function that increases the system’s combined drive power by 67 hp and torque by 48 lb-ft for a little over 10 seconds. Designed to be even more exclusive than the standard Maybach S-Class, the S680 has a handcrafted twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine that produces 621 hp (463 kW / 630 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,001 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system. This enables the Bentley Flying Spur and Rolls-Royce Ghost competitor to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). Speaking of performance, the model is rear-biased as 69% of the engine’s torque goes to the rear wheels.  The massive sedan also features rear-axle steering to help improve maneuverability. Honda has just unveiled the brand new 11th-generation Civic Sedan. Packed full of fresh tech, like a digital instrument panel, Bose sound system, and revised looks inside and out, the new Civic will look to continue its record as one of the best-selling cars in America over the last 48 years. Honda has tried to simplify the appearance of the Civic inside and out. To do that, it returned to the original design philosophy that made the Civics of the ’70s such a success: Man Maximum/Machine Minimum. The M/M maxim has led to a “thin and light” body design according to Honda. They worked hard to simplify the car, which has few design lines, while also making it look more premium. To do that, they did things like move the bottom of the windshield pillars back two inches. That makes the hood look longer, giving it more classic proportions. Hot on the heels of last week’s Q4 e-tron and the e-tron GT from earlier this year, Audi has unveiled the A6 e-tron concept at the 2022 Shanghai Motor show. It’s said that the only thing this concept shares with the “traditional” A6 is its dimensions, measuring 4.96 m (195.3 in) long, 1.96 m (77.2 in) wide, and 1.44 m (56.7 in) high. It’s a bold statement from a company that intends to offer more electric vehicles to US consumers than any other luxury brand by the end of 2021. The A6 e-tron concept previews the first Audi to be built on the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform. Others expected to join in 2022 will be the Q5 e-tron and Q6 e-tron. The platform has been developed together with Porsche and will also support the next generation electric Macan. Audi says they will unveil the first production vehicles based on the PPE platform in the second half of 2022. Genesis has officially unveiled its 2022 Electrified G80 at the Shanghai Auto Show as the brand’s first all-electric vehicle. Powering the Genesis Electrified G80 (yes, that’s it’s real name) are a pair of electric motors that combine to produce 365 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque, split evenly between the front and rear axles. Genesis claims the all-electric G80 can sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in an impressive 4.9 seconds. Genesis has also equipped the EV with a 400V/800V multi-rapid charging system that allows customers to use various charging infrastructures. The automaker has not yet stated the capacity of the vehicle’s lithium-ion battery but says it will have a range exceeding 500 km (310 miles) on the NEDC cycle and can be charged from 10 per cent 80 per cent in just 22 minutes. The Lexus ES might not be as exciting as the IS or as luxurious as the LS, but it’s the company’s bread and butter sedan. It’s also getting better with age as the automaker has announced a series of updates for the 2022 model year. Starting with the exterior, the revamped ES has been equipped with a new grille that “emphasizes the vehicle’s elegant design with a series of concentric ‘L’ shapes that radiate from the front Lexus emblem.” The grille is flanked by new LED headlights that are accompanied by a revised color palette which sees Iridium and Cloudburst Gray replace Atomic Silver, Silver Lining and Nebula Gray. Additional changes are limited, but the 2022 ES has updated wheels including standard 17-inchers that have “thicker spoke ends that are layered in ‘V’ formations to produce a sporty impression.” The sedan can also be equipped with updated 18-inch wheels, while F Sport variants come with exclusive 19-inch wheels featuring a new black finish. We’ve already seen the incredible 56-inch, triple-display, Hyperscreen dashboard inside the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS, and today we finally get to see if the rest of the package has the wow factor to match it. And while the production EQS doesn’t look quite as beautiful as 2019’s voluptuous Vision EQS concept, this EV alternative to the traditional S-class looks nothing like your usual Benz luxury car. It’s different under the skin, too. The EQS rides on a brand new dedicated EV platform that we’ll see more of next year when the smaller EQE is launched. At 207.3 inches (5265mm) from its stylish black nose to its smooth tail in US spec, the EQS is closer in length to the long-wheelbase S-class about to launch in North America than it is the short-wheelbase version offered elsewhere. But visually, it looks surprisingly compact, while the sloping lift-back rear gives it a sportier look than any S-class ever had.
