Aston Martin is working on a variety of different models including the Vantage, Vanquish, and Valkyrie but CEO Andy Palmer has just confirmed the company is also working to revive the Lagonda brand. In an interview with Car & Driver, Palmer confirmed the company has plans to offer two new Lagonda models that will target consumers who typically buy vehicles from Bentley and Rolls-Royce. The vehicles are scheduled to be launched by 2023 and will aim to offer a unique combination of luxury, style, and performance. Little is known about the models but Palmer said "I don’t want either of them to be what you’d call a traditional sedan." The executive went on to say he's challenged the company's designers to come up with something special that can still appeal to a "relatively conservative market" which is largely chauffeur-driven. Ford has confirmed Jim Hackett will become the company's new President and CEO. Hackett isn't actually a household name but Ford says he has a "long track record of innovation and business success" as CEO of Steelcase, Interim Athletic Director at the University of Michigan, and executive chairman of Ford Smart Mobility LLC. Hackett will report to Ford Executive Chairman Bill Ford and the two will work together to focus on three main areas including modernizing business and transforming the company to meet future challenges. The pair will also work to enhance operational execution which includes improving quality and product launches as well as addressing underperforming parts of the business. Carlos Ghosn has made the decision to relinquish his position as chief executive and president of Nissan after 16 years at the helm. Filling Ghosn’s job will be Hiroto Saikawa, Nissan’s current co-chief executive who will assume the position of CEO and president on April 1, 2017. Ghosn will continue to serve as the chairman of the board of directors and will seek to renew his position at a general shareholders meeting in June. His position to leave his post at Nissan comes as a surprise, but is understandable. After all, Ghosn is already the chief executive of the Renault Group, the chairman of the Nissan-Renault Alliance and the new chairman of Mitsubishi. Ghosn will have his hands full turning around struggling Mitsubishi Motors, which Nissan took a controlling stake last year.
