2022 Fisker Ocean Has Promising Debut At CES, Is Still Two Years Away

Image
Fisker’s long-awaited Ocean electric luxury SUV has finally made its world debut at CES 2020, but that doesn’t mean we’ll get to see it on our roads anytime soon. Following a business model pioneered by Tesla, Fisker is first showing people the vehicle in the hope of getting enough deposits and investments to start production. Initially, Fisker announced an all-inclusive lease model, but has now added a full purchase option too. In the United States, customers need to pay a $250 reservation fee for either the full purchase option or the flexible lease program. For those who want to take full ownership of the vehicle, prices will start at $37,499 – or $29,999 after the available $7,500 U.S. federal tax credit is applied. That’s a very competitive price but the flexible lease model is even more enticing. Drivers can get behind the wheel of the Fisker Ocean from $379 a month, with $2,999 down before delivery in 2022 (which includes both initiation and activation fees). For cre...

Fisker Shows New Teaser Of Electric SUV That’s Coming In 2021

Image
Fisker has released a new teaser image of the all-electric SUV it intends on launching in the second half of 2021. We were first provided with a look at the vehicle last month, and this latest sketch was released alongside an announcement regarding the company’s manufacturing plans. Key design details of the SUV’s front fascia include a large grille, small headlights with LED daytime running lights stretching towards the center of the SUV’s nose. Additionally, there are secondary running lights incorporated into the lower half of the fascia. This teaser also shows off the seven-spoke wheels of Fisker’s new model. Fisker originally intended on getting back into the world of green vehicles with the launch of its EMotion luxury sedan powered by solid-state batteries. Initial plans called for this vehicle to be launched towards the end of 2019, but the car has since been pushed back to at least 2021 when it will arrive after the SUV pictured. The company asserts that its, for no...

Fisker Drops First Image Of New Sub-$40k Electric SUV With 300 Miles Of Range

Image
Henrik Fisker has released the first teaser image of a new electric SUV with “close to 300 miles” of driving range and a price tag of under $40,000. This new electric SUV is the second vehicle announced by Fisker Inc. and is set to launch in the market in the second half of 2021. This means that it will be the first car to be offered by the company, as the already announced EMotion electric luxury sedan has been pushed back from its original late-2019 launch date. Fisker said that the Emotion will be launched after the mass-market electric SUV, partly because the former’s solid-state battery pack technology isn’t yet ready for a market release. The new Fisker SUV remains unnamed at this point but the company did release a few details, namely a 80kWh battery pack and the 300-mile driving range, both of which will be available on the base model. If Fisker delivers on its promise, it will place its SUV above the base Tesla Model Y, which is expected to offer around 220 to 230 mil...

Fisker Orbit Is A Fully Autonomous Electric Mobility Shuttle

Image
Following a teaser last month, Fisker has unveiled the all-new Orbit. Created as part of an alliance with China's Hakim Unique Group, the Orbit has been designed to become the "world’s most appealing autonomous shuttle for smart cities." The companies were coy on specifics but confirmed the Orbit is a fully autonomous electric vehicle and the first deliveries are slated to occur by the end of 2018. As part of the agreement between the two companies, Fisker Inc. will be responsible for designing and developing the vehicle while the Hakim Unique Group will handle its marketing and operations in Asia. In a statement, Henrik Fisker said "The combination of our breakthrough automotive technology, design prowess and unique vantage point as industry revolutionaries – and Jack’s [Hakim Unique Group chairman Jack Wong] truly integrated vision of smart cities – is powerful. I am very excited about making the impossible, possible with intelligent urban ecosystems – ...

Fisker Teases Production-Ready EMotion EV, Will Cost $130,000

Image
Back in April, Henrik Fisker started teasing the production-ready EMotion, a car he plans to show off to the world on August 17th. Now though, we finally have more to show you. Compared to these renderings from last year, the actual car looks a lot less Hot Wheels and more like something that could give the Tesla Model S a run for its money, with a claimed 400 miles (643 km) of range on a single charge. Unlike the Model S, which is in Fisker's cross hairs according to Electrek, the EMotion will utilize a hybrid supercapacitor, which has never been done on electric vehicles before. Other features should include the quick-charge function (up to 100 miles of range in just 9 min), plus the confirmed LIDAR system integrated in the front fascia's aluminum centerpiece, "panther eyes" headlight graphics and cameras for side mirrors with full 360-degree sensing. Among its many styling cues, Fisker also points to the low hood line, sculptural front fenders, tapered g...

Fisker's New EV Gets An EMotional Rear End

Image
Showing once again that you can't keep a good man down, Henrik Fisker officially put his name back in the game just a couple of months ago with the relaunch of  Fisker Inc . The reborn startup announced its intention to launch a new electric vehicle called the  EMotion , revealing some key details and even showing us what the design will look like from multiple angles. What we didn't know until now was what the vehicle would look like from behind, but his company has now plugged that gap by releasing this additional image. Though the design is entirely different from the Karma that came before until his last venture, the rear end of the forthcoming EMotion looks distinctly like Fisker's work – with wide shoulders and slim taillights. The overall picture painted by the images released so far, we dare say, bears a certain familial resemblance to other designs that Fisker has worked on – including the BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9,  Galpin Rocket , and  VLF Force 1 V10 . ...

Fisker Details The 400-Mile EMotion, Claims It's A Game Changer

Image
Fisker has dropped the first official details and images of its all-new electric sedan dubbed the EMotion. Henrik Fisker's reborn company has come up with an  edgy design  for its first model, aided by a newly developed electric powertrain, which has allowed the company to push the interior compartment forward, thus reducing front and rear overhangs without compromising interior space. The automaker also says that the EMotion will be built around a frame made from carbon fiber and aluminum, which, if true, would allow the sedan to shed huge amounts of weight, something particularly important for notoriously heavy electric vehicles.  The bold claims don't stop there.  Fisker  says the car's batteries will use lightweight graphene in their construction and be built by a joint venture between Fisker and Nanotech Energy Inc. The batteries will apparently be advanced enough to power the EMotion for some  400 miles  (643 km) and onto a 161 mph (259 km/h) ...

Fisker's Upcoming Sports Car Revealed In New Teaser

Image
After announcing  a new company  and an upcoming all-electric vehicle along with it, Henrik Fisker set on teasing the automobile. This is the Dutch designer’s second teaser, and it shows the unnamed automobile’s front fascia in all its might, after the first image revealed the model’s  double butterfly doors . It looks strikingly similar with  VLF Automotive’s  V10-powered Force 1 Concept, albeit it nullifies the use of a front large air intake, and uses different headlights. Embedded in its grille-less front end are a radar and a camera (which could signal autonomous functions), while the light clusters are adaptive LEDs. Mechanically, the car will feature a carbon-fiber and aluminum structure, making it roomier than all of its competitors (according to Fisker), as well as a 400-mile (644 kilometers) electric range thanks to Fisker's own-developed batteries. Mr.Fisker has learned from his past and outsourced the development of the company’s batteries to Fisk...

Fisker's Upcoming Sedan Has Butterfly Doors And A 400-Mile Range

Image
Henrik Fisker recently announced his comeback in the automotive industry  with Fisker INC , an American electric car maker, based in California. The company wants to break new barriers within the car industry with its products, with the very first model scheduled to debut in the second half of 2017, and this is how it looks like. Granted, the teaser isn’t that clear, but it shows a four-door model (aimed at Tesla’s Model S), boasting front and rear butterfly doors, that would make the Model X’s falcon wings look plain. According to Fisker, the doors are newly-developed for easier egress and ingress. The car's style seems to be reminiscent of the  VLF Force 1 Concept , especially at the front, albeit its headlights seem to extend all the way to the fenders.  The vehicle will also feature a carbon-fiber and aluminum structure, which will help it offer  a larger interior  space than its competitors. Moreover, it will have a 400-mile (644 kilometers) electric ran...

Henrik Fisker Is Back In Business, Announces New Premium EV For 2017 Launch

Image
Henrik Fisker had an interesting run with Fisker Automotive, offering the acclaimed Karma before applying for bankruptcy in November 2012. But now he’s back with a brand-new company and new ideas. The Fisker Karma was considered the world’s first premium electric car with a range extender, but since all the company’s assets were acquired  by a Chinese auto-parts maker , Mr. Fisker had to start from scratch with his new business. Good thing he still owned the trademark for the Fisker brand, then. Now, the Danish designer has just announced Fisker INC., an American  electric vehicle automotive company  that's based in California. With his new venture, Fisker wants to develop unique, high-performance, electric vehicles in order “break new barriers within the automotive industry”. Scheduled to showcase its first product in the second half of 2017, the vehicle will feature a patented battery that will deliver a significantly longer life and range than any battery currently ...
