This 2019 Hyundai Veloster Hot Rod Will Star In Marvel's 'Ant-Man And The Wasp'

Image
No, it's not a joke. The pictured modified version of the second-generation Hyundai Veloster will be introduced to the big screen later this year, as part of a global marketing initiative. According to the Korean brand, the 2019 Veloster in hot rod attire will be featured in "a hot pursuit" scene of Marvel's 'Ant-Man and the Wasp, which highlights its "capabilities in serving as the ultimate escape vehicle", along with its "speed and handling". Finished in purple and adorned with yellow and orange flames, the tuned Veloster that would feel right at home at SEMA has a few other mods that make it instantly noticeable, such as the hood scoop, side exhaust pipes, large rear wing, and chunky tires. The sequel of the 2015 'Ant-Man' movie is scheduled to premiere on July 6 at cinemas across the US, and it will mark the Hollywood debut of other Hyundai vehicles, whose names haven’t been released yet. "The Veloster totally exempl...

New Hyundai Veloster N Focuses On Ford's ST With 275 Horses

Image
The second product coming from Hyundai N, after the i30 N, is the performance variant of the new Veloster that was presented today at the Detroit Auto Show. It uses the same engine as the hot hatch, a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that boasts 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet (353Nm) of torque, and works together with a six-speed stick shift. Hyundai haven’t released any performance specs yet, but it's clear that the new Veloster N should come pretty close to the i30 N's 0-62mph (100km/h), which takes 6.1sec in its range-topping form. The new Hyundai Veloster N should be pretty fun to drive on a twisty road, as it gets optimized geometry for linear torque build up and corner-exit precision, decreased roll angle, unobtrusive rear strut brace that reinforces the rear multi-link suspension mounting points, and a special track-focused N driving mode. An electronically controlled limited-slip differential improves the grip furthermore, whereas stopping power com...

All-New Hyundai Veloster Is Still Quirky And That’s Good

Image
Hyundai revealed the new generation of the Veloster at the Detroit Auto Show, bringing a fresh design to match its quirky bodystyle. The new Hyundai Veloster feature the same, two-plus-one configuration known from its predecessor, having an additional passenger rear door for easier rear-seat access. The front end is dominated by the bold new grille design while the rear end features a big diffuser with twin tailpipes coming out of the middle. Base Veloster models will be available with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 147hp and 132lb-ft of torque that’s paired to either a six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic transmission. Go for the faster Veloster Turbo and then you get a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 201hp and 195lb-ft of torque. There’s an overboost function too, which raised peak torque to 202lb-ft. Customers will be able to choose between a manual six-speed or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. All models of the new...

This Is The All-New 2019 Hyundai Veloster!

Image
While it will retain the first-generation model's overall shape, the all-new Hyundai Veloster is clearly trying to look slightly more aggressive and less quirky. Ever since we saw it rocking that colorful camo back in November, we immediately noticed the new grille, the different LED DRLs and even a new bumper design with vertical air intakes. Now, since we can look at it without anything distracting us from its design, we can back up those impressions from a few weeks ago, while adding that the running lights look a little BMW-ish. Also, the overall shape of the headlights is a complete departure from what he saw on the old car. The new headlights are a lot smaller and indeed, less quirky than before, and the rear end looks more conventional. Speaking of the rear, while initially we thought that the bumper would protrude a bit further out from the tailgate, that doesn't seem to be the case - although some of these images aren't exactly crystal clear....

2019 Hyundai Veloster Teased, Debuts In Detroit

Image
The Los Angeles Auto Show is already underway but Hyundai has joined Volkswagen in teasing a model for the North American International Auto Show. Seen in these official photos, the 2019 Veloster is a stylish follow up to the first-generation model which launched nearly eight years ago. The overall shape appears to be largely the same but Hyundai designers focused on the details and apparently eliminated some of the car's odder styling quirks. Starting up front, we can see a massive grille that appears more upright than on its predecessor. It is flanked by LED-infused headlights and vertical air intakes. The sporty styling continues further back as the non-camouflaged image shows muscular fender flares, a rakish windscreen, and a more coupe-like roofline. The photos only give us a glimpse of the car's rear end but it appears to be a little more curvaceous than on the current model. The rear bumper also looks like it will protrude further out from tailgate as opposed...
