The BMW X2 lineup is growing as the automaker has taken the wraps off the all-new X2 M35i. Being billed as the “most powerful compact sports activity coupe,” the X2 M35i has a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system which enables the model to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds. The performance upgrades extend beyond the engine compartment as the crossover has been equipped with an adaptive M Sport suspension and an M Sport front differential. The latter component is celebrating its debut on an M Performance model and it reduces traction losses to the front wheels. The North American International Auto Show is less than a month away and BMW has announced plans to stage the world debuts of the X2 and i8 Coupe in the Motor City. Starting with the X2, the model is based on the X1 but it eschews crossover-inspired styling for a funkier design that resembles a high-riding hatchback. In the United States, power will be provided by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that produces 228 hp (170 kW) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. This will enable the X2 xDrive28i to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds before hitting a top speed of up to 143 mph (230 km/h). Moving on to the i8 Coupe, the model follows in the footsteps of the i8 Roadster which was recently unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. BMW has officially unveiled the new X2 crossover. Dubbed "the cool X," the model is based on the X1 but is shorter and lower than its corporate counterpart. The X2 also features unique styling which makes it resemble a large hatchback instead of a traditional crossover. Starting with the exterior, the crossover has a unique kidney grille which turns the "familiar trapezoidal shape on its head" as its wider on the bottom than it is on the top. The grille is flanked by large air intakes and slender headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights. Moving further back, we can see a rakish windscreen, a compact greenhouse, and a gently sloping roof which meets a tailgate-mounted spoiler. In BMW's own words, their latest Sports Activity Coupe was sent on an exploration trip into the urban jungle, which is where the automaker anticipates most X2 owners will reside. As for the car's colorful outfit, it's a wrap featuring orange, gray and black highlights, with a little bit of yellow on the bottom. According to BMW, this design was based on a digital pattern, expressing the "innovative spirit and future orientation of the BMW Group." Thanks to these new images, we can take an even closer look at the car's rear end, which appears even more aggressive when viewed from a low angle, such as the one where the car is stopped at the light. Once BMW removes the camouflage and actually starts displaying the car in their showrooms across the globe, potential X2 customers will find themselves considering whether or not this new BMW model is worth buying over the likes of the Audi Q2. Basically a sister model to the second generation X1, the  Concept X2  previews a production crossover. Unveiled at the  2016 Paris Auto Show , in a world premiere, it adopts a different design language compared to what we're used to, and it is described as " a vehicle for active people looking for a combination of enjoyment and practicality ", according to the brand's Senior VP, Adrian van Hooydonk.  At the front, the signature 'kidney' grille is flanked by the angular laser light headlamps with  futuristic graphics , which sit above the aggressive bumper with wide side air intakes. The raked windscreen, lower roofline, and the lack for regular door handles dominate the profile, while at the rear, the  study has a more angled tailgate  than the one found on the X1, a prominent spoiler, new taillights and double exhaust pipes. BMW wants to complement its SUV lineup with a sixth model, and the concept previewing the new sports crossover will be unveiled at the  Paris Auto Show  on Thursday. We’re talking about the one  announcing the X2  – a model that’s been caught testing as early as last year – which BMW teased through an image vaguely showing the vehicle’s front fascia. Through the wraps, the X2 Concept appears to sport slimmer headlights, making it more distinguishable from the X1. As with other BMW studies of the sort, it's believed to be very close to the production model that will follow next year.
