The 2018 BMW i3 and i3S have been given an early unveiling by Automobile Magazine. Set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the all-new i3S features an upgraded electric motor that reportedly produces 184 hp (137 kW) and 199 lb-ft (269 Nm) of torque - an increase of 14 hp (10 kW) and 15 lb-ft (20 Nm). Besides the upgraded engine, the i3S rides on a sport-tuned suspension that reduces the ride height by approximately half an inch (12.7 mm). The model also comes equipped with 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels that are slightly wider than the ones on the standard i3. Speaking of the exterior, both models adopt a new front bumper with restyled fog lights. The standard i3 has chunky plastic body cladding but that's thankfully absent on the i3S which has black accents and metallic trim. Yet another Chinese automaker has launched a new model  heavily inspired  by an existing car, this time blatantly ripping off the BMW i3. Details about the Chinese  copy  of the i3 are scarce, but these images and information from  PC Auto  suggest that the model will soon hit the streets of China in both plug-in hybrid and all-electric forms. The hybrid features a 1.0-liter internal combustion engine delivering 68 PS (67 hp) coupled to a 41 PS (40 HP) electric motor, while the EV is powered solely by the electric motor. According to the local publication, the Chinese i3 has similar dimensions to the real thing, measuring 4,163 mm long, 1,720 mm wide and 1,630 mm high and boasts a 2,515 mm wheelbase. Four years after first displaying the  i8 Spyder Concept , BMW will finally put it into production.  The official press release states that the upcoming i8 roadster will be added to the firm's portfolio of hybrid and electric vehicles, which will expand and will include  an updated i3 , with an increased battery capacity and longer range.  Details on the two cars are scarce at the time, but development of  electrified BMWs  will include a total of seven models, which will be either purely electrically powered, just like the i3, or plug-in hybrids with an electric motor and an internal combustion engine. These will be introduced " from 2016 onwards ", as the Group explains, and will be joined eventually, " in the coming years ", by a plug-in hybrid MINI.
