Ferrari 488 Pista Spider Makes Unexpected Premiere At Pebble Beach

Image
The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider has unexpectedly launched at Pebble Beach, offering customers all the driving thrills of the regular Pista but with the added experience of a removable hardtop. Like the 488 Pista coupe, the Pista Spider is powered by a truly brutal twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 engine delivering 711 hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. Consequently, the Pista Spider achieves the 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint in 2.85 seconds, exactly the same as its sibling. If drivers have enough room, the car can reach 124 mph (200 km/h) from a standstill in 8 seconds, 0.4 seconds slower than the coupe and continue through to a 211 mph (340 km/h) top speed. The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider tips the scales at just 3036 lbs (1377 kg) dry and is roughly 200 lbs (91 kg) heavier than the coupe. In the scheme of things, it is still a light car and is assured to offer much of the same driving thrills of the fixed roof model. The car happens to be the 50th convertible model in Ferrari’s...

Ferrari 488 Pista Is Here To Take The 720S’s Crown

Image
After a leak which uncovered Ferrari’s most eagerly-anticipated model a little early, the Italian marque has just debuted the hardcore Ferrari 488 Pista online. Previously known as the 488 GTO, the Pista follows in the footsteps of the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia, and 458 Speciale. It promises to turn the already formidable 488 into the best vehicle in its class and snatch the performance crown away from the McLaren 720S. Sitting at the heart of the 488 Pista is a modified 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that pumps out 711 hp, making it the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history. Torque now sits at 568 lb-ft, 7 lb-ft more than the standard 488. The results of these figures are some pretty exciting performance figures. The run from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) can be achieved in as little as 2.85 seconds while the run from 0-124 mph (200 km/h) takes a mere 7.6 seconds. That second figure is precisely 0.2 seconds quicker than the McLaren 720S. The Pista’s top...

Abarth's Zipping Off To Geneva With A Racy New 595 Pista

Image
Fiat's Abarth performance division only ever has two models to work with at a time. Sometimes just one. So it stands to reason that it keeps rolling out new versions of the same, and that's just what it has in store for this year's Geneva Motor Show. Leading the charge is the new Abarth 595 Pista. Though you wouldn't know it from the name, one look is all it takes to tell you're looking at an upgraded version of the Fiat 500, joining the Scoprion marque's lineup alongside the standard 595, 595 Turismo, and 595 Competizione. The Pista version packs a 1.4-liter turbo four rated at 160 horsepower, propelling it to 62 in 7.3 seconds and on to a top speed of 134 mph – roughly the same specs as the US-spec Fiat 500 Abarth. What sets it apart is the rest of the spec sheet. It features cross-drilled brakes, Koni rear suspension, 17-inch alloys, Abarth Record Monza exhaust, on-board telemetry system... the works, in short, to give it more performance appeal. Buy...
