2019 Hyundai i30 Fastback N Breaks Cover In Denmark Ahead Of Paris Debut

Image
Hyundai has dropped the first official photos and information on the all-new i30 Fastback N five-door performance model ahead of its Paris Auto Show debut. As promised, Hyundai N’s third model was unveiled as part of a race from Rome to Paris. There was a catch, though: the race was between two Danish villages called Rome and Paris, not Italy’s and France’s capital cities. Driven by Gabriele Tarquini, the winning i30 Fastback N needed 8 minutes and 18.49 seconds to cover the distance between the two villages. Back to the car, you should know it grafts the same mechanicals of the i30 N hatchback onto the i30 Fastback body style. That means the engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 250 PS (248 hp) in standard guise and 275 PS (272 hp) in optional Performance guise. In both cases, the engine delivers 353 Nm (260 lb-ft) of torque. However, the overboost function further increases peak torque to 378 Nm (279 lb-ft). The function activates automati...

Hyundai i30 N Fastback Confirmed For Paris Auto Show Debut

Image
Sales of Hyundai’s N products “have already exceeded expectations”, according to the manufacturer, and will reach new heights with the launch of the i30 Fastback N. The third product in the car firm’s N performance brand, after the i30 N and Veloster N, will be officially presented to the world at the 2018 Paris Auto Show, on October 2. Essentially a five-door coupe version of the compact hot hatch, the Hyundai i30 Fastback N recently took to the Nurburgring for an exciting run, alongside the i30 N, Veloster N and i30 N TCR racer. The road-going N products “have the same performance gene and share a strong character”, as Thomas Schemera, Executive VP and head of High Performance Vehicle & Motorsport Division, said. “They are equipped with sophisticated technology and design elements. At Hyundai, we always accept new challenges and try different things to deliver groundbreaking experiences for our customers. We aren’t here to simply build cars, we want to create em...

New Hyundai Veloster N Focuses On Ford's ST With 275 Horses

Image
The second product coming from Hyundai N, after the i30 N, is the performance variant of the new Veloster that was presented today at the Detroit Auto Show. It uses the same engine as the hot hatch, a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit that boasts 275 horsepower and 260 pound-feet (353Nm) of torque, and works together with a six-speed stick shift. Hyundai haven’t released any performance specs yet, but it's clear that the new Veloster N should come pretty close to the i30 N's 0-62mph (100km/h), which takes 6.1sec in its range-topping form. The new Hyundai Veloster N should be pretty fun to drive on a twisty road, as it gets optimized geometry for linear torque build up and corner-exit precision, decreased roll angle, unobtrusive rear strut brace that reinforces the rear multi-link suspension mounting points, and a special track-focused N driving mode. An electronically controlled limited-slip differential improves the grip furthermore, whereas stopping power com...

New Hyundai i30 N Officially Revealed With Up To 271HP, 0-62 In 6.1 Sec

The first, fully-blown performance hatchback from Hyundai is finally here: meet the hot new i30 N. Hyundai’s answer to the VW Golf GTI will be available in two versions, both powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The base model will offer 250PS (246hp) whereas the Performance Package version is rated at 275PS (271hp). The former will hit 62mph from a standstill in 6.4 seconds while the more powerful version drops that time to 6.1 seconds. In both cases, the chassis has been upgraded with a new adaptive suspension which offers the driver five different driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, N and N Custom. These can be activated via a pair of dedicated buttons on the steering wheel and apart from adjusting the suspension, they also change the parameters of the engine, the electronic stability control (ESC), the engine sound, steering and rev-matching feature. Performance Package models also come with a set of 19-inch alloys wrapped...

Hyundai Teases i30 N Hot Hatch Ahead Of July 13 Debut

Image
Hyundai’s first genuine hot hatch is just a few days away from its official reveal and the company released another pair of videos to get us hyped about it. The Korean company also wants us to know how hard they’ve worked to turn the i30 into a proper performer, with its development taking place at the Nurburgring, the British b-roads and on the Swedish ice, with WRC driver Thierry Neuville also being a member of the test team. Power will reportedly come from a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, which will be offered in two different versions - 250PS (246hp) and 275PS (271hp). A six-speed manual gearbox will be standard, with a dual-clutch option still to be confirmed. The uprated chassis will benefit from a beefier suspension with adjustable dampers and a limited-slip differential. Together with the bigger brakes and wheels, the new Hyundai i30 N is expected to give the VW Golf GTI a run for its money. The bodywork will feature a more aggressive look, albeit one that’s more sub...
