2019 Vanderhall Carmel Boasts 200 HP, Adds Doors And Removable Top

Image
Unlike Vanderhall’s Venice three-wheeler, the 2019 Carmel features a set of doors as well as more interior room to go with the GM-sourced 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol producing 200 HP, a 10% increase over the Venice’s 180 HP 1.4-liter unit. Since this 1.5-liter engine is also lighter, it gives this new three-wheeler a 75/25 weight distribution, which is a good thing, according to the autocycle manufacturer. “The new Carmel emphasizes our ongoing commitment to the autocycle segment,” said the company’s marketing director, Daniel Boyer. “In contrast to other manufacturers in our market, the one and only thing Vanderhall does is manufacture All-American autocycles. We are committed to being the leaders in this segment, and the Carmel is the latest evidence of that dedication.” Features on the Carmel include the front entry doors, high-performance 4-piston brakes as standard, bespoke 19-inch wheels, LED lights, synthetic upholstery, electric power steering, provis...

Crowdfunded Sondors EV Debuts In LA With A $10,000 Price As An Elio Alternative

Electric car startups are going all-in with their latest products, with the latest one to grace our screens - for now - being the Sondors. The crowdfunded company is present at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show with a 3-wheel, fully electric prototype called Model Sondors, which was funded back in January and completed seven months later. It has a 3-seat layout, two at the front and one at the rear, and it promises to become the most affordable, attractive, and practical EV ever, with an anticipated starting price of $10,000. If all that reminds you of Elio and it's three-wheeler, you're right, but at least for now, Sondors isn't going through the problems of the former. The zero-emission Model can be equipped with various lithium-ion battery packs, which can be charged from 110V or 240V outlets. It's estimated that it will be able to travel for up to 75, 150, and 200 miles (120, 240, 320 km), respectively, between charges, and take from 5 to 8 seconds for the 0-6...

EV3 Will Soon Become Morgan’s First All-Electric Car

Image
You’ll be hard pressed to find a more self-contradictory car in the market than  Mogran’s new EV3  that will be revealed in pre-production trim at the  Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday . While from the outside, the three-wheeler looks like it belongs to the first half of the 20th century, with Morgan itself stating that it draws inspiration from “1930’s aero-engine race cars, classic motorcycles and 1950’s fantasy automatons”, it’s anything but that under the skin.  The EV3 is not only the first Morgan vehicle to utilize composite carbon panels in its body construction, including the bonnet, tonneau cover and side pods, with the rest of the car made from aluminum panels, helping keep the weight under 500kg (1,102 lbs), it’s also the firm’s first ever zero-emissions electric car.  Enclosed within the tubular space frame chassis are a 20KWh Lithium Battery that offers a driving range of 150 miles (241 km/h) and a liquid cooled 46kW electric  motor driving the ...
