Bentley claims its new Continental GT Speed is a more than just speedy in a straight line. The latest high performance version of the already rapid GT coupe comes with four-wheel steering and an electronically controlled rear differential to make sure the 5,000lb monster can do corners, too. That wasn’t always the case with the old car. Sure, it was great to push through fast open bends, but throw in some tighter curves and it was all too easy to overwhelm the front tires. But Bentley is so confident in the difference the new hardware makes, it’s calling the Speed ‘the most capable, performance-focused Bentley ever.’ Let’s deal with the Speed bit first. The 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 gets a mild upgrade from 626 hp to 640 hp, while torque stays the same at 664 lb ft. The top speed climbs 1mph to 208mph and the zero to 60mph time is now 3.5 seconds, down from 3.6 seconds in the standard W12 Conti GT. Bentley has just unveiled two brand new versions of its third-generation Continental GT and GT Convertible models, both available with a new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol unit, producing 542 HP (550 PS) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. In a straight line, the Coupe can rocket to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds (Convertible 4.0 sec), and will top out at 198 mph (318 km/h). Customer deliveries in the U.S. will commence in Q3 of this year, with availability for other regions to be scheduled starting in Q1 of 2020. The new-generation 4.0-liter 32-valve V8 unit features dual twin-scroll turbochargers located inside the ‘V’ of the engine. The 550 PS and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) are sufficient so as to help both versions (Coupe and Convertible) stay within 0.1 seconds of each other. Following a not-so-revealing teaser, the new Bentley Continental GT Number 9 Edition by Mulliner has been unveiled ahead of its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The new special edition of the Continental GT will be handcrafted by Mulliner in just 100 copies, with the specification inspired by the brand’s motorsport heritage and the Number 9 badging honoring the historic ‘Blower’ Bentley Le Mans race car. Each of the 100 examples of the Conti GT Number 9 Edition will actually feature a wood insert from the seat of the actual Le Mans race car, removed during a “sympathetic” renovation, on their special interior. The piece is set in resin and positioned in the middle of the center dial of the rotating display. Customers will get to choose between Cumbrian Green or Beluga heritage hides that feature increased gloss levels to the seats, inner door panels and elsewhere. Lincoln has officially brought back suicide doors, or coach doors, albeit in a limited edition version of the Continental. Baptized the Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary Coach Door Edition, it will be put together in just 80 units for the 2019MY, with a limited number to arrive the following year as well. All of them benefit from 90-degree opening rear doors, which facilitate ingress and egress, as well as an electronic door system that makes entry and exit effortless and quiet. Thanks to the extra 6 inches (15.24 cm) added to the wheelbase, it also delivers best-in-class legroom at the back, on the two individual seats, according to the automaker. Greeting occupants is a special door plaque that shows the car’s number in the run, and once inside, they’ll find a stowable tray with tablet holder and wireless charging pad at the back. Bentley has lifted the veil off the new Continental GT Convertible, the open-top variant of its luxury gran tourer. The posh convertible gran tourer comes with a tailored soft top that can be deployed or stowed in 19 seconds, with the car travelling up to 30 mph (50km/h). Bentley will offer customers the option between seven different hood colors, including an authentic tweed finish for the first time. Bentley says that the new fabric soft top features new sealing and acoustic treatments, making the new Continental GT Convertible as quiet as the previous generation Continental GT Coupe. The new Bentley Continental GT C also features a new neckwarmer system, that’s both quieter and warmer than the previous model, integrated into the heated 20-way adjustable Comfort seats. Bentley and its racing partners have done pretty well with the old Continental GT3, though now that there's a new Continental GT hitting the road, a new contender for the track will also be on its way. Today, Bentley has revealed the first images and details of the all-new Continental GT3, and it looks properly menacing. Steered in partnership between Bentley Motorsports and racing consultancy M-Sport (which just won the World Rally Championship), the fresh racer is based on the new Conti's aluminum-intensive structure to help trim its weight down to “significantly less than 1,300 kg” (2,866 pounds). Add into the mix a reworked version of the existing 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, with a new intake, exhaust, and dry-sump lubrication system. Bentley pulled the wraps off the all-new Continental GT finally, revealing all the details on its new Grand Tourer that aims to conquer the luxury segment. The British company drew inspiration from its EXP 10 Speed 6 concept in designing the new Continental GT and it shows; the shape is now much more sculptural and dynamic, making the Continental GT look properly special. Bentley revised the proportions of the whole car, with the new generation having a longer and lower profile than its predecessor, due in part of the positioning of the front axle 135mm further forward which allowed a longer hood and a lower nose. The most radical departure however is to be found at the back, where Bentley gave the new Conti GT a pair of elliptical taillights, reflecting the shape of the exhaust tail pipes below them and giving the whole car a surprisingly elegant rear end.
