McLaren has taken the wraps off its most powerful, most aerodynamic convertible to date, the 765LT Spider. The highly limited “long tail” model will be made to order and will deliver enormous driver engagement, always according to the manufacturer. Power comes from McLaren’s familiar twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, with the new 765LT Spider making 754 hp (765 PS/562 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque (though that might be a conservative estimate). That’s enough to get it off the line and up to 60 mph (96.5 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds (0-100 km/h in 2.8). Thanks to the engine and a transmission that’s optimized for driver engagement, the 765LT Spider offers 15% faster in-gear acceleration than the 720S Spider, meaning it can hit 124 mph (200 km/h) in just 7.2 seconds. One of the few certain things in this life beyond taxes and death is Porsche’s uncanny dedication to its family of 911 models. The more the merrier for Porsche which just a week after the presentation of the wingless 911 GT3 Touring has further expanded the fam with the return of the GTS moniker for the 992-generation series. Arriving in the U.S. early next year, the new 911 GTS series models are available in rear- and all-wheel drive coupe and convertible configurations as well as an all-wheel drive only Targa variant. Powering them all is a tweaked 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six making 473-hp (480 PS / 353 kW) and 420 lb-ft (570Nm), or a healthy 30-hp and 15 lb-ft (20 Nm) more than your run of the mill Carrera S. Those craftsmen at Rolls Royce’s Goodwood factory sure have a solid work ethic. It was only earlier this week that Rolls announced it was getting back into the coachbuilding game full-time, and today it has presented the bespoke division’s first completed projected. Called the ‘Boat Tail’ this striking convertible takes its name from a series of very rare Rollers from the late 1920s and early 1930s. But its closest modern relation is the one-off Sweptail coupe unveiled at Villa d’Este in 2017. At the time, the Sweptail’s $12.8 m price made it the most expensive new car in the world. But it almost looks cheap next to the $28 m (£20 m) Boat Tail, which becomes the most expensive new car you can buy, far exceeding the $9.7 m Bugatti wants for a Centodieci. BMW introduced the redesigned M3 and M4 last fall, and now the company has dropped the top on the new M4 Competition Convertible Set to arrive in the United States this October, the high-performance convertible has a familiar twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 503 hp (375 kW / 510 PS) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel drive system that only sends power to the front wheels when additional traction is needed. The system has 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD modes, and the latter offers a classic rear-wheel drive experience. Thanks to the powerful engine and all-wheel drive system, the M4 Competition Convertible rockets from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds. After the unveiling of the Portofino-based Roma coupe late last year, it was only a matter of time before Ferrari upgraded the convertible model as well, seeing as the fixed-top car brought a series of upgrades. Enter the 2021 Ferrari Portofino M, which gains the Roma’s 612 HP (620 PS / 456 kW) powertrain as well as exterior and interior styling tweaks. Adding the letter ‘M’ to the name (it stands for ‘Modificata’) does not mean the old Portofino gets to continue: the Portofino M facelift effectively replaces it. It’s one of those facelift jobs that need a good look at to notice the changes, though. On the outside, the Portofino M adopts a new front bumper with larger air intakes for a more aggressive look plus a new air vent at wheel arch height that’s said to help reduce overall drag. Mercedes-Benz has spread out its mid-cycle facelift for the E-Class with the presentation of the 2021 sedan, wagon and All Terrain Wagon in March this year being followed today by the unveiling of the long teased Coupe and Convertible models in both regular and E53 AMG forms. It’s nothing groundbreaking with the revised two-door variants sporting minor exterior and interior styling tweaks, new technologies and updated powertrain offerings. Mercedes has a good thing going with the E-Class Coupe and Convertible, as admittedly, both are some of the most elegant looking proposals in the market. As such, there was no reason to ruin a successful formula with deep styling cuts. Fiat’s all-new and now, all-electric 2021 500e city car looks like it could be the world’s most stylish and environmentally-friendly urban vehicle when it launches later this summer. As seen from these images that surfaced on various websites and forums, including Autodata, we can tell that the new Fiat 500e boasts LED light units (front and rear), to go with a streamlined front fascia that kind of makes the city car look like a trendy Stormtrooper. Another noticeable change is the ‘500’ badge on the so-called grille (no need for one of those on an electric vehicle). The new inscription replaces the old Fiat badge found on the current 500. Inside, the new 500e features a fully overhauled dashboard design, with a new gauge cluster and a large, landscape-style infotainment display. Lexus is expanding its LC 500 sports car family with a soft-top convertible that will be celebrating its world premiere at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday. Set to go on sale next summer, the model closely echoes the coupe but adopts a four-layer soft top that has been designed to recreate the flowing roofline of the coupe.  It can be opened or closed in approximately 15-16 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph (50 km/h). The top will be offered in black and beige, and be paired with a stylish body in one of ten colors.  Speaking of the latter, the convertible features a unique rear end with a new tonneau cover and a modified trunk with an integrated third brake light. This is the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible, introduced to give the established market of mid-engined, droptop supercars something new to worry about. The unveiling of the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible comes just two-and-a-half months after the premiere of the Coupe and shows that Chevrolet is taking this whole mid-engined business very seriously. Production of the convertible will commence in the first-quarter of 2020 and be sold in both left- and right-hand drive configurations. Prices will start at $7500 more than the entry-level 1LT Stingray coupe. Chevrolet says the new ‘Vette “was engineered first and foremost as a convertible” meaning it retains the coupe’s tunnel-dominant structure and high-integrity die-cast parts. Audi has revealed the facelifted 2020 A5 model family, which includes the Coupe, the Cabriolet and the four-door Sportback bodystyles, together with the also refreshed S5 models. As expected, the facelift focuses on the same areas with the 2020 A4, including a revised Singleframe front grille that now sits flatter and a bit wider and features ventilation slits to remind you of the iconic Audi Sport Quattro. The bumper is also redesigned with larger air intakes and a new lower blade while the lights front and rear received a new signature. The rear end gets a new diffuser insert backed from a set of trapezoidal taillpipes, making the back of the car look wider.
