The Genesis X Coupe Concept Is A Strikingly Handsome Grand Tourer For The Electric Age

Image
Genesis has unveiled a new concept car called the Genesis X in Los Angeles. The electric grand tourer demonstrates its design intentions for its upcoming vehicles. Only the fifth concept in the young company’s history, the Genesis X works on a “Two Lines” theme. Low and broad, the car continues a number of Genesis design cues, like the crest grille and the two lines, while moving the design into the future with the sleek coupe. “The Genesis X can be described as the ultimate vision of Athletic Elegance,” said SangYup Lee, head of global design for Genesis. “The signature Two Lines theme and sustainable luxury will be the blueprints for the futuristic designs and state-of-the-art technologies that Genesis seeks to adopt in its future models.” The crest grille, for instance, combines new and familiar. Though its shape is recognizable, it features a 3D G-Matrix pattern that was designed to accentuate how futuristic this electric concept is. The hood and fenders are also one piece, creatin...

The New 650 HP Bentley Continental GT Speed Is A Country Gent’s GT-R

Image
Bentley claims its new Continental GT Speed is a more than just speedy in a straight line. The latest high performance version of the already rapid GT coupe comes with four-wheel steering and an electronically controlled rear differential to make sure the 5,000lb monster can do corners, too. That wasn’t always the case with the old car. Sure, it was great to push through fast open bends, but throw in some tighter curves and it was all too easy to overwhelm the front tires. But Bentley is so confident in the difference the new hardware makes, it’s calling the Speed ‘the most capable, performance-focused Bentley ever.’ Let’s deal with the Speed bit first. The 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W12 gets a mild upgrade from 626 hp to 640 hp, while torque stays the same at 664 lb ft. The top speed climbs 1mph to 208mph and the zero to 60mph time is now 3.5 seconds, down from 3.6 seconds in the standard W12 Conti GT. But Bentley has done plenty of work to ensure the difference feels bigger. Switch ...

It sits on the VW Group’s high-end J1 Performance Platform designed by Porsche with the e-tron GT sharing its building blocks with the Taycan. Available in two models, regular and the extreme performance RS in the US from launch, It’s one of Audi’s most powerful production cars. All models feature a dual-motor all-electric set-up with a two-speed transmission to aid performance. It incorporates Audi’s new 800V electrical architecture which allows eve...

2020 Ford GT Gets Power Boost, Stunning Liquid Carbon Edition And More

Image
In a rather surprising move, Ford has given the 2020 GT several technical and visual enhancements. We’ll start with the revised oily bits, which were inspired by the Ford GT Mk2 racer and include updated engine calibration, gallery-cooled pistons, higher-energy ignition coils and broader torque band. The result is an additional 13 horsepower added to the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which lifts the output to 660 hp. That’s not all, because the revised GT also gets a larger intercooler and updates to the buttress air ducts that increase the air flow by 50 percent. The suspension has been updated as well in ‘Track’ mode to improve handling and body control. Furthermore, the Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, which was a $10,000 option, is now offered as standard. That’s great news not only from a soundtrack standpoint, but also because it provides a weight saving of 9 lbs (4 kg). One of the most striking additions to the 2020 GT lineup is the Liquid Carbon Edition, bringing ...

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster Revealed In Pebble Beach

Image
Monterey Car Week continues as Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the new Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster. Following in the footsteps of last year’s SVJ 63 coupe, the roadster is a limited edition supercar that pays tribute to the company’s founding in 1963. Jointly created by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile and Ad Personam teams, the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster will be available in eight exclusive “design expressions.” Each will feature matte or shiny carbon fiber on the windshield frame, engine cover and roof. The car also has an SVJ 63 livery and special Leirion forged wheels with a matte titanium finish. Interior changes are minor, but drivers will find carbon fiber trim, CarbonSkin accents and one of three different Alcantara color schemes.  There’s also individually numbered badges. Power is provided by a familiar 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 759 hp (566 kW / 770 PS) and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed transmission which sends power t...

Bentley Looks Into The Future With The Electric EXP 100 GT Concept

Image
Bentley has finally revealed the EXP 100 GT concept, a fully electric luxury gran turismo designed to show what the company’s models might look like in the year 2035. The new EXP 100 GT also marks the company’s centenary to the day, featuring a fully electric powertrain with four electric motors, a torque vectoring system and a combined output of up to 1,340hp and 1,100lb-ft (1,491Nm) of torque. Bentley claims that the EXP 100 GT is capable of a 0-60mph in less than 2.5 seconds and of a top speed of 186mph (300km/h). With future battery technology expected to offer five times the current energy density, it’s no wonder that the EXP 100 GT is said to be capable of charging to 80 percent of capacity in only 15 minutes. Driving range is set at 435 miles (700km) on a full charge while weight is kept at 1,900kg (4,188lbs), which is mighty impressive for a car of this size. Speaking of which, the design study measures 5.8 meters long and almost 2.4 meters wide (19.02 and 7.87...

Aston Martin Reveals Final Design Of The New DBS GT Zagato

Image
Aston Martin has revealed the exterior design of the upcoming DBS GT Zagato in a series of official renders. Based on the DBS Superleggera, the company’s latest limited-edition supercar showcases the latest evolution in the Aston Martin Zagato design language. How limited you ask? Well, in order to get your hands on one of the DBS GT Zagatos, you’ll have to also get a DB4 GT Zagato Continuation. The £6 million ($7.48 million) pair forms what Aston calls the DBZ Centenary Collection, with only 19 examples of each set to be made. One of the biggest visual highlights of the new Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato can be found in its traditionally massive grille; this is actually an active item, meaning that each of the 108-individual diamond-shaped carbon fibre pieces remain flush with the bodywork when the supercar is parked and then open upon start-up to enable the twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 to breathe. “This is a car that is not only focused around beauty, but drama too,” said Marek...
