Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder Goes Topless In Geneva

Image
One year ago, Lamborghini unveiled the hardcore Huracan Performante. Now, the most driver-oriented version of the Huracan is getting an open-top version, which will undoubtedly turn every head in the room at the Geneva Motor Show. The new Huracan Performante Spyder features a soft-top roof that takes 17 seconds to open or close and doesn’t compromise the ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva) active aerodynamics. Its naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 develops just as much power as its fixed-roof sibling, which is 640PS (631hp) and 600Nm (lb-ft) of torque, or 30PS (30hp) and 40Nm (30lb-ft) more than the LP610-4 Spyder, from which it is also 35kg (77lbs) lighter. The 0 to 100km/h (0-62mph) sprint has dropped from the standard Spyder’s 3.4 seconds to 3.1, which is 0.2sec shy off the Huracan Performante Coupe. Top speed is identical, though, at 325km/h (202mph). Just like the Performante Coupe, the new Spyder benefits from an enhanced suspension, more responsive steer...

Topless Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder Heading To Geneva

Image
Lamborghini says that they will “add a new dimension” to the Huracan Performante at the Geneva Motor Show, which is of course code for the drop-top Spyder version. The Italian manufacturer has been testing the Huracan Performante Spyder for quite some time now, with development prototypes even caught out on the wild almost completely undisguised. Chopping the roof off the Performante will definitely bring a “new dimension” to the driving experience as the free-revving 631hp V10 will flood the cabin more easily with its melodies. The topless version of the Performante will carry over the revolutionary active aero agenda of the coupe, which includes hollow components letting the air pass through them on demand, depending on the conditions. This is basically Performante’s biggest trick, with the hardcore V10 Lamborghini having proved its insane speed at the Nurburgring by posting a scarcely believable 6:52.01. To further silence the critics, Lamborghini gathered all the product...

McLaren P1 LM Prototype Edges Out NIO EP9 and Huracan Performante, Sets 6:43.2 Ring Record

Image
After becoming the fastest road car ever to run up the Goodwood Hill, the McLaren P1 LM has just added another big notch to its belt. This XP1LM prototype is said to be identical to all five P1 LM production cars ever built, which is why we should take note of its amazing achievement at the Nordschleife. After the XP1LM managed to set a new lap record of 6.43.2, it drove directly from the Nurburgring back home in the UK. This project represents only the latest collaboration between Lanzante Motorsport and former Indy 500 winner Kenny Brack. The project was also backed by McLaren and Pirelli, with the latter constructing a specific size and compound road legal Trofeo R tire for the P1 LM. To put this achievement into perspective, we will remind you that the Huracan Performante turned heads with its 'Ring time of 6 min and 52 seconds set last year, whereas the lightning-quick NIO EP9 did a 6:45.9 - slower than the P1 LM by a little over 2 and a half seconds. Lamborghini's Topless Huracan Performante Spotted For The First Time

Image
It was pretty obvious that the reveal of the Huracan Performante would be followed by a topless version and these spy shots are the first solid proof – if you needed one. Spotted by our spies at VW’s Nurburgring test facility, this is the first sighting of the Huracan Performante Spyder. The mid-engine Italian thoroughbred will feature the same drivetrain with its fixed-roof sibling, meaning a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 with 631hp and 443lb-ft of peak torque, sending its power to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. As you can already guess, the loss of the roof is going to add even more drama to the driving experience, allowing the angry V10 melodies to fill the cabin more easily. With the Coupe version already being the fastest production vehicle around the ‘Ring, it’s safe to expect that the Spyder Performante is going to be rather fast too in there. After all, the same innovative ALA active aero agenda will be present as witnessed in the pho...

Lamborghini's All-New Huracan Performante Is Finally Here, Has 631HP

Image
We've read reports about it, saw it testing in numerous occasions and witnessed it blow the Nurburgring lap record, and now it's finally here - say hello to the hottest Lamborghini Huracan ever, the Performante. Unveiled just a few hours ahead of its 2017 Geneva Motor Show premiere, the impressive supercar uses the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine as the rest of the Huracan family, but it haas been massaged to deliver 640 PS (631 HP) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. The extra 30 PS (30 HP) and 40 Nm (30 lb-ft) of torque developed on top of the LP610-4 Coupe, allow the Huracan Performante to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds, from a standstill, and 200 km/h (124 mph) in 8.9 seconds. The improvements are 0.3sec and 1.0sec, respectively, while top speed remains the same, at over 325 km/h (202 mph). These numbers were achieved not just by upgrading the V10, which benefits from improved air intake, redesigned exhaust, new titanium valves and optimize...

Lamborghini Reportedly Planning Huracan Spyder Performante

Image
Lamborghini hasn't even come out with the new  Huracan Superleggera  coupe yet, and already rumors are circulating about the followup roadster version. The speculation stems from a trademark application that  AutoGuide  came across for the name Huracan Performante, which will speak volumes (or at least one very specific volume) to those well-schooled in the Bolognese automaker's nomenclature and model history. Towards the end of the lifecycle of the Huracan's predecessor, Lamborghini rolled out the  Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante . It was essentially the convertible version of the Gallardo Superleggera, packing a more powerful engine, a more aggressive setup, and less weight than the standard Gallardo Spyder, of which it was arguably (if not empirically) the pinnacle version. Now it would appear that the House of the Raging Bull is preparing to apply a similar treatment to the Huracan, bringing the less weight/more power formula to the company's drop-top...
