New 2018 VW Arteon Four-Door Coupe Is The CC 's Replacement

Image
This is the all-new VW Arteon, the replacement for the CC which is going to be positioned above the Passat in the brand’s range as a premium offering. Based on VW’s modular MQB platform, the new Arteon sits on a long 2.841mm wheelbase, measuring 4,862mm long, 1,871mm wide and 1,427mm tall. The company is calling the Arteon a premium Gran Turismo, giving it a distinctive front end, a set of powerful shoulder lines and a low roofline among other design features. “The athletic lines of the Arteon embody a highly functional overall concept. Form and function find common ground here in a progressive way”, said Tobias Sühlmann, responsible for the Arteon's exterior design. “In contrast to classic saloons, the gran turismo offers more space and flexibility thanks to its long wheelbase, coupé-like fastback design and large rear hatch.” The new VW Arteon will be available initially with six petrol and diesel engines, starting from 148hp (150PS) in the case of the new 1.5-litre TS...

VW Arteon Gets Ready For Its Big Debut In Geneva

Image
We've been looking at sketches for the upcoming Volkswagen Arteon for months now. The wait will soon be over, as the German automaker has pledged to unveil the new model at the Geneva Motor Show next month – but not before it gives us just a coupe more teasers. Arteon is what VW will call its replacement for the CC, described as a “premium mid-size” fastback, positioned above the Passat. We'd expect it, however, to slot below where the Phaeton once sat (and where the Phideon does in China). Despite what promises to be a sleek silhouette, though, Volkswagen promises “an interior architecture which is exceptionally spacious – with ample head and leg room at all seats.” The manufacturer hasn't revealed much more than that at the moment, except to say that the Arteon will incorporate advanced driver assistance systems, the likes of which we'd typically expect to find only in higher-end luxury automobiles. Details on the  US-spec Arteon  have yet to be released, but it will slot in the company's lineup right above the Passat, sharing most of its nuts and bolts with the European model, and be priced accordingly. If the  CC replacement  is successful enough, then Volkswagen may consider adding a  Shooting Brake version  as well.  Joining its likes on the North American market in 2018 will also be the  facelifted Golf , which was already shown Europe, while in 2019, Herbert Diess revealed plans for the introduction of two more SUVs, coming ...
