Microsoft announces Xbox Adaptive Controller for players with disabilities

Image
Microsoft has announced the Xbox Adaptive Controller, an Xbox controller designed for people with disabilities. The device was leaked earlier this week. It has two large programmable buttons and 19 jacks that can be connected to a range of joysticks, buttons, and switches to make it easier for a wider range of people to play games on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. “I can customize how I interface with the Xbox Adaptive Controller to whatever I want,” says Solomon Romney, a Microsoft Store learning specialist who was born without fingers on his left hand. “If I want to play a game entirely with my feet, I can. I can make the controls fit my body, my desires, and I can change them anytime I want. You plug in whatever you want and go. It takes virtually no time to set it up and use it. It could not be simpler.” The focus is on connectivity and customizability, with players able to build a setup that works for their capabilities and needs. It won’t be an all-in-one solution for many g...

Porsche 911 GT2 RS Inspires Forza Motorsport 7 Controller

Image
In preparation for the upcoming release of Forza Motorsport 7, SCUF Gaming have collaborated with Porsche and Turn 10 Studios to design an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller inspired by the 2018 911 GT2 RS. The face of the limited-edition controller mixes silver with red and black accents just like the interior of the 700 hp-strong 911. At the rear, the controller includes a small Porsche badge and handles crafted from the same hand-stitched Alcantara as the car. In a statement, chief executive and co-founder of SCUF Gaming, Duncan Ironmonger said “The SCUF FORZA ELITE features fine attention to detail, hand-built at our facilities in Atlanta where it is geared and tested for performance. “In 2011, we challenged how controllers were built, creating a new market for high performance controllers by adding features to increase hand use and improve gameplay. This new limited-edition controller continues that tradition. It’s a tribute to fans of Forza, Porsche, and SCUF. It co...

Microsoft opens Xbox One X preorders worldwide

Image
Microsoft announced worldwide preorder availability for the standard version of its new Xbox One X console. The device, first unveiled back at E3 in June, has only been available up until now as the Project Scorpio special edition, preorders for which promptly sold out when Microsoft began selling them during the Gamescom conference last month. Now, the company says preorders for the standard black Xbox One X will be available at local retailers around the world, as well as through its own website and the Microsoft Store. The console will retail for $499 in the US with 1TB of storage, and it starts shipping worldwide starting November 7th. With preorders more widely available now, Microsoft is also taking the opportunity to publicize its growing list of Xbox One “enhanced” games. Because the new console is has a faster processor and more memory, it’s capable of running games at up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second. Developers can also choose to enhance both new and existin...

FIFA 18 Demo Review (PLUS PES 2018)

Image
So a couple of days ago I downloaded the PES 2018 Demo from the Xbox Store. I used to play PES back when I had PS2. I did download the PES 2017 Demo last year, but since I've been playing Fifa for 7-8 years, I found it quite hard to tackle, shoot and sprint, as many people who have played both would understand. One thing I found surprising is the level of play in that game. Even though the squads are outdated, they are so life-like in the way every player reacts. I somehow managed to get my head around the opposite buttons, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. But before going on to FIFA 18, let's talk about FIFA 17. I play FIFA 16, and of course that was made solely by EA Sports. So when I heard about a partnership with Frostbite Games (yes, the guys behind Need For Speed The Run), I knew that this would bring FIFA to a whole new level. When I played that demo, I realised just how different it was to my 16 version. But I just didn't think I should upgrade to 17, because of...

New Xbox One X is The Most Powerful Console Ever

Image
Microsoft made good on its promise to reveal all the key details about Project Scorpio during its E3 press conference today. We got an official name, a price, and a release date: the Xbox One X, as it’s called, will start at $499 and will start shipping on November 7th. In a demo room following the company’s event, we got a look at the hardware in a side-by-side comparison with Microsoft’s cheaper Xbox One S console. If you’re looking for a radically redesigned device, you will be disappointed. The new console looks pretty much identical to the developer kits we saw earlier this year, minus the OLED display, physical buttons, and real-time clock. In fact, there’s not all that much you can say about the One X itself other than that it just looks like an Xbox. It’s shaped and designed just like the refreshed slim One S that Microsoft unveiled last summer — albeit slightly smaller. Microsoft’s Phil Spencer proudly proclaimed on stage that the Xbox One X is the smallest console the ...

Xbox Project Scorpio unveiling tipped with Forza 7, Red Dead Redemption 2

Image
Gamers eagerly anticipating news on Microsoft‘s Project Scorpio, the new, more powerful Xbox console, may not have much longer to wait. News has surfaced that the hardware will unveiled by Microsoft within the next few weeks — well ahead of this year’s E3 in June — with several big-name games used to showcase the console’s 4K capabilities, including the debut of Forza Motorsport 7. Citing some early marketing materials it got its hands on, Windows Central reports that a Project Scorpio unveiling will happen within just a few weeks time, and Microsoft will use the event to highlight the console’s increased power over the existing Xbox One, namely its ability to run games in true 4K resolution. The site notes that Forza Motorsport 7, the latest in the Xbox’s hit racing franchise, will also be announced and used as a headlining title for Project Scorpio’s tech capabilities. Other first-party titles said to make an appearance include Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2. Also mentione...
