2022 Genesis G80 Sport Unveiled With Styling Tweaks And Rear-Wheel Steering

Image
This is our first look at the 2022 Genesis G80 Sport with a slightly more dynamic design than the standard model. Ever since the latest-generation G80 was unveiled, there has been speculation that Genesis would launch a Sport variant, as that’s exactly what it did with the previous G80. While technical specifications about the new model haven’t been announced, these images showcase a number of unique features. Found at the front of the 2022 G80 Sport is a grille finished in dark glossy chrome and a revised front bumper that is sharper and more aggressive than lesser G80s. The dark glossy chrome finish continues across the sides of the luxury sedan. A unique set of 20-inch alloy wheels are also featured as are brake calipers available in black and red. Alterations are less apparent at the rear but do include dark glossy chrome on the tailgate. There’s also a new bumper and a subtle diffuser. Buyers of the G80 Sport will be able to order it in an exclusive color dubbed Cavendish Red, nam...

New Genesis G70 Shooting Brake Is Brand’s First Ever Wagon And It’s Made For Europe

Image
Like Americans, Europeans are enamored with SUVs but across the pond, there’s still plenty of love left for station wagons that often prove more popular than their sedan counterparts. With Genesis having taken its European assault seriously, the Koreans have presented their very first estate model under the ‘Shooting Brake’ moniker based on the new G70 compact luxury sedan. Designed with European customers in mind (sorry America), the G70 Shooting Brake will be the fifth model Genesis has confirmed for its market launch in the continent this summer, after the G70 and G80 sedans, and the GV70 and GV80 SUVs. With the Audi A4 Avant, BMW 3-Series Touring and Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate in its sights, the 2021 G70 Shooting Brake has identical dimensions to the sedan. It is 4,685 mm (184.4 in) long, 1,850 mm (72.8 in) wide and 1,400 mm (55.1 in) tall, and has a 2,835 mm (111.6 in) long wheelbase. The redesigned rear end and the longer roof have opened up more boot space, with the automaker ...

The Genesis X Coupe Concept Is A Strikingly Handsome Grand Tourer For The Electric Age

Image
Genesis has unveiled a new concept car called the Genesis X in Los Angeles. The electric grand tourer demonstrates its design intentions for its upcoming vehicles. Only the fifth concept in the young company’s history, the Genesis X works on a “Two Lines” theme. Low and broad, the car continues a number of Genesis design cues, like the crest grille and the two lines, while moving the design into the future with the sleek coupe. “The Genesis X can be described as the ultimate vision of Athletic Elegance,” said SangYup Lee, head of global design for Genesis. “The signature Two Lines theme and sustainable luxury will be the blueprints for the futuristic designs and state-of-the-art technologies that Genesis seeks to adopt in its future models.” The crest grille, for instance, combines new and familiar. Though its shape is recognizable, it features a 3D G-Matrix pattern that was designed to accentuate how futuristic this electric concept is. The hood and fenders are also one piece, creatin...

The Facelifted 2022 Genesis G70 Looks Just As We Expected It Would

Image
The first images of the facelifted 2022 Genesis G70 have been unveiled, showcasing a striking new look fitting of the brand’s current design language. With this in mind, the front of the updated G70 includes the Korean automaker’s new ‘Quad Lamps’ headlights that give the sports sedan a particularly athletic appearance. The front end also includes the Genesis signature crest grille as well as shapely new air intakes and a large lower grille. Fewer changes have been made to the sides of the 2022 model but there are air extractors just behind the front wheels. Genesis has also overhauled the rear fascia of the 2022 G70 with the fitment of its new Quad Lamp taillights that have been inspired by the soaring wings from the Genesis logo. The sedan also includes a body-colored diffuser as well as oval exhaust tips. Moving to the interior and we find an enlarged 10.25-inch infotainment system that includes an exclusive Genesis UI design and supports over-the-air wireless updates as well as App...

2021 Genesis G80: First Official Look At New Model

Image
Set to be introduced later this month, the 2021 G80 adopts an “Athletic Elegance” design that looks simply phenomenal. Like the GV80, the model features a large crest grille which is flanked by Genesis’ trademark “quadlamps.”  Of course, the real highlights are further back as the G80 has a long flowing hood, muscular bodywork and 20-inch alloy wheels. In particular, the car has a long sweeping “parabolic line” that starts at the front fender and continues gracefully to the rear.  Genesis says this stylish accent is meant to evoke the “elegance of classic cars of the past.” The dynamic styling is visible elsewhere as designers gave the car a coupe-like roofline.  The design is far sportier than the current model and it recalls the Audi A7 Sportback. The rear end is also gorgeous as Genesis gave the G80 a trunk with a “horseshoe shaped negative surface.”  It’s joined by chrome trim and a trunk release button which mimics the shape of the Genesis logo....

2020 Genesis GV80 Fully Revealed In Korea, Coming To America This Year

Image
The 2020 Genesis GV80 has arrived as the company’s first-ever SUV after weeks of leaks and teasers. It joins the G70, G80, and G90 in the company’s current range. Genesis offered the world a glimpse of the GV80 with the launch of a concept back in 2017. Much to the surprise of many, the production-spec SUV remains quite faithful to the design of the concept. Viewed from the front, it’s impossible to ignore the triangular-shaped front grille and the ‘Quad Lamps’ of the concept, albeit enlarged for the production model. The Korean company says the design of the SUV’s front fascia has been inspired by the shape of the company’s logo. Spin around to the side of the GV80 and other striking parts include a large piece of trim on the front wheel arches as well as a pair of sharp lines stretching along the doors and continuing through to the flanks of the SUV. Pointed rear side windows like the concept are also particularly striking as are the 22-inch wheels. At the rear, the GV80 ...

Genesis Mint Concept Unveiled As A Tiny Electric Hatchback Without The Hatch

Image
Following a handful of teasers, Genesis has officially unveiled the all-new Mint concept. Looking like Genesis’ take on the Hyundai Veloster, the Mint is a small hatchback-like vehicle with an aerodynamic front fascia that features LED headlights and a tiny crest grille. The model also has muscular fenders and an oddball rear end which recalls the 2009 Aston Martin Lagonda concept. Despite the hatchback-like styling, the Mint has two scissor-style doors which open to provide access to a parcel shelf behind the front seats.  The shelf is relatively small and Genesis said it was designed to temporarily stash items that are essential for day-to-day life. Speaking of the rear end, the Mint has a centrally located charging port above the Genesis badge.  The car has also been equipped with slender LED taillights that are connected by a thin strip. Elsewhere, we can see five-spoke alloy wheels and a panoramic glass roof.  There are also lower body panels with a ...

2020 Genesis G90 Rolls In With Fresh Design, New Tech Features

Image
Korea’s Genesis EQ900 has just received a facelift and was renamed the G90 in order to fall in line with the automaker’s overseas naming policy. Unveiled during a local event in Seoul, the executive sedan benefits from an extensive makeover on the outside, which brings a reworked grille, four-point headlights, new hood creases, redesigned taillights and a few other features. The side turn signals ‘split’ the headlights in two, there are new exhaust tips and optional 19-inch wheels with sound absorption to reduce tire noise. Genesis is offering the 2020 G90 in nine exterior colors, including the new Porto Red and Gold Coast Silver, and new two-tone color and trim combinations, namely Brown and Brown/Blue. Inside, things have largely been carried over, although the automaker does mention a re-engineered 12.3-inch infotainment display with smartphone integration and Intelligent Car Management Service. The central air vents are now slimmer and customers will have more trim o...

2020 Genesis G90 Facelift Teased With A New Front Fascia

Image
Genesis has released the first teaser image of the 2020 G90. Shown underneath a sheet, the image reveals the updated model will have an all-new front fascia with a revised grille that looks more prominent that its predecessor. We can also see new LED headlights that have a thin accent strip which is similar to the Thor’s Hammer headlights used by Volvo. Additional styling details are hard to make out, but it appears the flagship sedan has also been equipped with a new front bumper and a revised hood. The styling changes will likely continue out back as there should be a modified rear end with updated taillights. Genesis didn’t say much about the updated G90, but hinted the car will have “distinctive styling cues and exceptional comfort.” The company also said the luxury  sedan will be unveiled soon and this suggests a possible unveiling at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Regardless of when and where the G90 is introduced, the model will likely feature an assortment of familia...

Genesis Essentia Concept Is A Stylish Electric GT That Hints At The Future

Image
Designed to provide a glimpse into the company’s future, the Essentia is a stylish two-door GT car that features carbon fiber bodywork and an electric powertrain. The concept is a radical departure from the rest of the Genesis lineup but it features a number of styling cues which could eventually show up on future models. Starting up front, the Essentia has an evolution of the company’s “crest grille” and it is notably more diamond-shaped than on models such as the G70 and G80. Elsewhere, the concept has “quad lights” that originally debuted on the GV80 concept. Genesis says they are a “signature” of the company so don’t be surprised when they show up on future models. Getting back to the concept itself, it has a transparent hood which provides a glimpse at its pushrod suspension. The model has also a rakish windscreen, muscular rear haunches and functional air vents behind the front wheels. Another unique feature is the concept’s butterfly doors. They use facial recog...
