The Beetle has reached the end of the road as Volkswagen of America has announced the iconic model will be going out of production in 2019. Volkswagen is marking the occasion by introducing a Beetle Final Edition which will be available as a coupe and convertible. The model draw inspiration from the 2003 Beetle Última Edición (Last Edition) which celebrated the end of first-generation Beetle production in Mexico. As a result, the 2019 Beetle Final Edition will be available in two unique colors – Safari Uni and Stonewashed Blue – which pay tribute to the Beetle Última Edición which was only available in beige and light blue. Customers can also order an assortment of other colors including Pure White, Deep Black Pearl and Platinum Grey. Your average  VW Beetle  is not going to come anywhere close to 200 miles (320km/h) per hour. Porsche 911 Turbo, sure, but not a Beetle. Yet that's precisely what this one did. Specially modified for the purpose and with  Automobile  mag's Preston Lerner behind the wheel, this Volkswagen Beetle LSR achieved a top speed of 205.122 mph over the course of a flying mile on the  Bonneville Salt Flats  in Utah. That makes this the world's fastest Beetle. To get there, VW contracted THR Manufacturing of Santa Paula, California, to rebuild the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. THR fitted new turbochargers, pistons, cams, connecting rods, and headers, to produce over 600 horsepower and nearly 500 lb-ft of torque at the crank – or 543 hp and 421 lb-ft at the wheel. Volkswagen has just freshened up the  Beetle and Beetle Cabriolet range  with a series of exterior and interior tweaks.  On the outside, the 2017  VW Beetle benefits from  different bumpers across the Basic, Design Line and R-Line trims, along with tinted LED taillights, a choice of 17-inch Philadelphia and 18-inch Ravenna Adamantium wheels and two paint options called Bottle Green Metallic and White Silver Metallic.  Open the door and you will be greeted by the new dial, dashpad styling and brighter instrument panel on the Design Line and R-Line versions, joined by further  individualization options  comprising of three new upholstery materials and style packages.
