This is the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible, introduced to give the established market of mid-engined, droptop supercars something new to worry about. The unveiling of the 2020 Corvette Stingray Convertible comes just two-and-a-half months after the premiere of the Coupe and shows that Chevrolet is taking this whole mid-engined business very seriously. Production of the convertible will commence in the first-quarter of 2020 and be sold in both left- and right-hand drive configurations. Prices will start at $7500 more than the entry-level 1LT Stingray coupe. Chevrolet has officially unveiled the 2020 Corvette Stingray. One of this year’s most highly anticipated models, the 2020 C8 is a revelation as it’s the first Corvette to adopt a mid-engine design. This decision has been decades in the making and it’s the final realization of Zora Arkus-Duntov’s dream. Looking pretty much as expected, the 2020 Corvette has an aggressive front fascia with a triangular insert that is flanked by large air intakes. A small spoiler resides below, while there’s a stylish hood and slender headlights above. The sporty styling continues further back as the car has a rakish windscreen, aerodynamic side skirts and sculpted bodywork that channels air into two massive side scoops. Other notable features include a compact greenhouse, muscular rear fenders and a double bubble roof. The wait is almost over as Chevrolet has confirmed the 2020 Corvette will be unveiled this summer. The company is keeping details under wraps, but said the 2020 C8 is the “sum of each generation before it, but will stand alone as the new standard of performance.” Chevrolet is staying coy on specifics, but we already know the model will be a radical departure from its predecessor as it will have a mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces around 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS). It will be connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. While the powertrain itself isn’t too revolutionary, the 2020 Corvette will adopt an all-new design as part of its switch to a mid-engine layout. This is our first proper look at the upcoming next-generation Corvette, as a test car showed up at the Nurburgring without wearing the black covers previously applied. The car remains covered in full-body wrap but it’s the first time we get to see a lot of design details of the mid-engined Corvette. Where do we start? The front end appears really sharp and aggressive, with the bumpers giving us a Lamborghini vibe while the headlights seem to adopt a curvy L-shape that follows the lines of the bonnet. The highlight on the sides is of course that massive air scoops for the engine bay while it appears there are a few character lines present for a more muscular shape. It looks clean and dynamic, but with the camo on it’s risky to jump on conclusions. The rear end tries to throw us off with the use of Camaro taillights instead of the finished items. The Indianapolis 500 kicks off next month and Chevrolet will use the event to showcase the new Corvette ZR1. As part of the festivities, the Corvette ZR1 will become the official pace car of this year’s race. The model is relatively stock but it has been equipped Indy 500 badging and safety strobe lights. The model also has the ZTK Performance Package which includes a performance suspension and an adjustable carbon-fiber rear wing. Other performance features include a Brembo carbon ceramic braking system, an electronic limited-slip differential and a magnetic selective ride control system. Equus Automotive, based in the U.S., has just unveiled its second model, dubbed the Throwback and created as a homage to classic Corvettes. Like the firm’s Mustang-inspired Bass 770, the Equus Throwback provides a mix of modern and retro designs. With that in mind, there are side scallops, a set of secondary headlights up front and arches similar in shape to those of the C7-generation Corvette on which it is based. Other noteworthy Corvette design elements include a power bulge in the hood, circular taillights and three comically-large circular tailpipes. Moving to the interior and it too is very similar to the C7 but now benefits from a dose of Alcantara, diamond quilting on the seats and turned metal trim on the center console and door pulls. Barely two weeks after premiering the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, the American automaker has surprised many be unveiling the new Corvette ZR1 Convertible at the LA Auto Show. Beneath the skin, the ZR1 Convertible is powered by the same LT5 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine as the coupe, therefore delivering an identical 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. This will allow the car to accelerate from naught to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds and complete the quarter mile in the high 10-second range. Chevrolet has unveiled the highly-anticipated 2019 Corvette ZR1. Billed as the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever created, the ZR1 features a supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine that produces 755 hp (563 kW) and 715 lb-ft (968 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to either a seven-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet didn't go into specifics but confirmed the model has a top speed in excess of 210 mph (337 km/h). In order to hit these impressive speeds, the car has been equipped with an all-new front fascia and a "downforce-enhancing front underwing." The model also features a unique carbon-fiber “halo” hood and four new radiators. Two different aerodynamic styling packages will be available and the standard "Low Wing" variant is designed to deliver the highest top speed. The first purported pictures of the Corvette ZR1 have surfaced online ahead of its debut on November 12th. Posted by Corvette Blogger, the images were reportedly taken from Car and Driver and reveal the model will be equipped with an aerodynamic body kit which includes a carbon fiber front splitter, air intake ducting, and a massive rear wing. We can also see a ventilated carbon fiber hood, a carbon fiber roof, and lightweight alloy wheels. The rest of the photos don't reveal much but they show the cabin will have an Alcantara-wrapped shifter and a flat-bottom steering wheel with carbon fiber trim. There also appears to be a carbon fiber engine cover and a glimpse of the engine itself. The report says the car's LT5 V8 engine will be rated at 750 hp (559 kW) and 680 lb-ft (920 Nm) of torque. Chevrolet has released a plethora of eye-catching concepts at SEMA, with the 2018 Corvette Carbon 65 Edition also joining the party. For starters, Chevrolet’s SEMA booth will include the new Silverado Centennial Edition and Colorado Centennial Edition, two vehicles created to celebrate the brand’s 100 successful years of building pickup trucks. This duo will be joined by the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Midnight and Dusk Editions. Elsewhere, the automaker has created the Silverado Performance Concept, fitted with a supercharged 5.3-liter V8 engine, a set of large brakes, lowered ride height and some visual modifications.
