Dodge has unveiled the 2020 Charger Scat Pack and SRT Hellcat Widebody. Available on the Scat Pack and standard on the Hellcat, the Widebody package features fender flares that extend the width of the body by 3.5 inches (89 mm). Thanks to the wider stance, the models are now fitted with 20- by 11-inch wheels that are wrapped in 305/35ZR20 tires. Other highlights include a uniquely tuned suspension with three-mode adaptive damping from Bilstein. The cars have also been equipped with a high-performance braking system that features six-piston Brembo front calipers and two-piece front rotors. The Charger Scat Pack Widebody is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine that produces 485 hp (362 kW / 492 PS). It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. Dodge has officially unveiled the 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, which features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 797 hp (594 kW / 808 PS) and 707 lb-ft (957 Nm) of torque. Described as the “most powerful, quickest and fastest muscle car,” the Redeye can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 203 mph (326 km/h). Dodge also says the new Hellcat is the “fastest grand touring production car”, as it can run the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at 131 mph (210 km/h). In order to achieve those impressive figures, the Redeye has been equipped with 25 major component upgrades, just like the Challenger SRT Demon. Dodge has updated its Charger sedan for the 2019 model year, giving all variants some attention – albeit not enough to hide the car’s age. Customers of the 2019 Dodge Charger will have heaps of choice as the sedan will be sold in SXT, GT, SXT AWD, R/T, R/T Scat Pack, and Hellcat guises. Starting with the most exciting of those, the Hellcat, the 2019 Charger comes with a host of upgrades first used by the Dodge Challenger Demon. For example, the sedan has line lock, torque reserve, After-Run Chiller, and launch assist. The After-Run Chiller system works by cooling the supercharger air cooler even after the engine has been shut off. Meanwhile, the torque reserve closes a bypass valve to pre-fill the supercharger and ensure optimal performance. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently wrapped up its Capital Markets Day event which primarily focused on Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Jeep and Ram. FCA decided to eschew a dedicated Chrysler and Dodge presentation but CEO Sergio Marchionne mentioned the brands a handful of times. Despite rumors to the contrary, he confirmed the future of both brands is “not in question” as they are important to the company’s North American lineup. While both brands are safe, there will be changes in the future. Autocar notes Marchionne said “Our view is that 70% of the US market is already non-sedan, so to try and build traditional sedans is not helpful.” However, that doesn’t mean the company is going all-in on trucks and crossovers as the executive stated “Brands like Dodge can play a role there because of their performance heritage.” That, of course, is a subtle hint there’s still a future for the Charger and Challenger. Not long after offering the world a glimpse of the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, the American automaker has done exactly the same with the 2019 Charger SRT Hellcat. The teaser in question reveals that the updated Charger Hellcat will benefit from a revised front grille with at least one large nostril to feed the powertrain with air. It appears as though the air intake will perform a similar function to the ram air intake found directly in the Challenger’s headlight. Beyond this, little else is known about the new Charger SRT Hellcat. Prototypes recently spied out and about have been free of camouflage at the rear end, indicating that Dodge’s designers and engineers have limited modifications to the sedan’s front fascia. The four-year old Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will live on, as FCA has prepped a number of updates for the 2019MY. In a couple of teasers released today, the North American company has partially revealing the biggest change: a pair of hood scoops, inspired by past models. The new parts, described as a “dual-snorkel hood” by FCA, replaces the single piece found on today’s models. Moreover, it’s a throwback to the “distinctive Mopar design themes from some of its most famous muscle cars”, says the automaker, referring to some vehicles made in the mid-60s and early-70s, although we do remember some Pontiacs offered with dual hood scoops. With the new elements in place, the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat doesn’t only look “more sinister”, but it gets “maximum air intake to the supercharged powerplant”, claims FCA. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has stopped production of all its right-hand drive Chrysler and Dodge models. The vehicles were built at the company’s facilities in Windsor and Brampton, Ontario and the cancellation will impact countries including South Africa and Australia. FCA’s decision was reportedly made because it simply couldn’t justify the costs of building right-hand drive models for only a select few countries. The decision also means both the Chrysler and Dodge brands will leave the South African market entirely. “This unfortunate situation has arisen from our principals in the USA no longer building Chrysler or Dodge vehicles in Right Hand Drive configuration,” FCA South Africa chief executive Robin van Rensburg told Allpar. As recently as November 2016, Fiat Chrysler’s Australian division said it was evaluating a business case for right-hand drive versions of the Dodge Challenger and Charger. Shortly after the Demon's unveiling, the Texas tuner has revealed that it will offer a selection of upgrade packages for the drag-strip focused Dodge. For starters, Hennessey will offer a NHRA-legal roll cage for the Demon, taking prospective owners one-step closer to being able to record sub-9.9 second quarter mile times at NHRA-sanctioned events. Well, after one of the most drawn-out premiere's in recent memory, the covers have officially been taken off the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon at the New York Auto Show. Based around the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the Demon has undergone a comprehensive suite of modifications and Dodge claims that it is the world’s quickest accelerating production car and the fastest quarter-mile production car on the market. Power from the company’s 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine has been bumped from 707 hp in Hellcat-spec to 840 hp for the Demon. This power boost has been achieved with the installation of a larger, 2.7-liter supercharger, boost pressure rising from 14.5 psi to 11.6 psi, new pistons, rods and valve train being installed and the implementation of two dual-stage fuel pumps.
