2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack And SRT Hellcat Widebody Debut With Up To 707 HP
Dodge has unveiled the 2020 Charger Scat Pack and SRT Hellcat Widebody.
Available on the Scat Pack and standard on the Hellcat, the Widebody package features fender flares that extend the width of the body by 3.5 inches (89 mm). Thanks to the wider stance, the models are now fitted with 20- by 11-inch wheels that are wrapped in 305/35ZR20 tires.
Other highlights include a uniquely tuned suspension with three-mode adaptive damping from Bilstein. The cars have also been equipped with a high-performance braking system that features six-piston Brembo front calipers and two-piece front rotors.
The Charger Scat Pack Widebody is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine that produces 485 hp (362 kW / 492 PS). It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.3 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds at 111 mph (179 km/h).
Opting for the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody rewards buyers with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 707 hp (527 kW / 717 PS) and 650 lb-ft (881 Nm) of torque. It enables the sedan to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 3.6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h). Dodge says this makes the model the “most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world.”
Speaking of performance, the model comes with four “race-inspired technologies” this year. They include Launch Control and a Launch Assist function which “uses wheel speed sensors to watch for driveline-damaging wheel hop at launch and, in milliseconds, modifies the engine torque to regain full grip.” Other features include a burnout-friendly Line Lock system and a Race Cooldown function which runs the intercooler pump and radiator fan even after the engine has been shut off.
Besides the aforementioned changes, the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody has a new electric power steering system. The system is adjustable and there are four different modes called Street, Sport, Track and Custom. The latter allows owners to fine tune the steering to meet their own individual preferences.
The Hellcat also boasts some minor styling changes for 2020. Updates include a new “mail-slot” grille and revised side skirts. The model also has a new rear spoiler and two-piece Satin Chrome SRT Hellcat badges.
Inside, the Hellcat comes nicely equipped with heated / ventilated Laguna leather front seats featuring embossed Hellcat logos. Drivers will also find a heated flat-bottom steering wheel and a new “SRT Hellcat” badge with a black and red finish. Customers can also order a new Carbon & Suede Package which adds carbon fiber trim and Dynamica suede upholstery to the headliner, sun visors and A-pillars.
Dealers will begin accepting orders this fall and the first deliveries are slated to begin early next year.
