Buried underneath various statistics is a rather blunt statement that the company will “not invest in next generations of traditional Ford sedans for North America.” Instead, models such as the Fusion, Fiesta and Taurus will be phased out over the next few years. According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Ford and General Motors will drop a number of sedans and hatchbacks as crossovers have become the defacto choice of consumers. Citing company insiders, the publication claims the Chevrolet Sonic could be phased out later this year. It may eventually be joined by the Chevrolet Impala which is rumored to go out of production “in the next few years.” The Sonic is one of Chevrolet’s most affordable models as pricing starts at $16,170. The company also notes thirty percent of Sonic buyers are under 35 years old and this makes it “one of Chevrolet’s ‘youngest’ cars.” Despite appealing to young consumers and first time buyers, sales have been falling over the past few years. With just a little over a week to go until the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Ford have officially unveiled the new generation Fiesta ST. Building upon the regular versions, the hot hatch uses a newly-developed 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine that pushes out 200 PS (197 HP) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.7 seconds, or 0.2sec faster than before. Users can shift between three different driving modes: Normal, Sport and Track, which enable engine, steering and stability controls to be configured from motorway to track day condition. Additionally, the new Fiesta ST also features what Ford claims to be an industry-first cylinder deactivation system for a 3-banger, which reduces fuel consumption in conditions where full capacity is not needed, and drops the CO2 emissions to an anticipated 114 g/km. These are the first photos of Ford’s next Fiesta supermini, scheduled to hit the market in the second half of 2017.  The new generation  of the popular supermini model  is expected to grow slightly in size and in price in order to make room for the upcoming KA+ model which will be positioned under it.  Ford wants  the KA+ to play the role of a cheaper city car  to rival models like the Dacia Sandero, allowing them at the same time to push the Fiesta upwards in the segment. The upgrade will also bring a bump in the quality of the materials used in the cabin, better refinement and more features in order to stay on top of the sales charts. The new  Ford Fiesta  ST200, which will debut at the  Geneva Motor Show , will offer hot hatch fans in Europe an even more powerful version of the already fantastic model. Upgrades to the 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder allow it to produce 197 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque, and temporary overboost for up to 20 seconds takes those figures to 212 hp and 236 lb-ft. The company also shortens the final drive ratio to 4.06 – from 3.82 currently. The ST200's upgrades are healthy improvements over the current  Fiesta ST  in Europe, which makes 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque (197 hp and 214 lb-ft during overboost). They would even be welcome additions in the US because the version here already has 197 hp, but it has 202 lb-ft – 12 lb-ft less than the new variant.
