Pininfarina HK GT: There’s Something Very Mercedes-AMG GT About It…

Image
Pininfarina’s latest show car, and the fourth of its kind designed for Hybrid Kinetic Group, has touched down in Geneva, for its world premiere. It’s called HK GT, sports a very elegant styling, with a long, sculpted bonnet, a slightly curved line that flows to the rear, and chromed slats, in the grille, said to “open like petals to frame the high-tech headlights”. The new Pininfarina HK GT Concept may remind us of the Mercedes-AMG GT family, but unlike the German sports car (not counting in the new AMG GT4), it has seating for four. Ingress and egress are facilitated by the gullwing doors, and once inside, you will notice a very clean and flowing layout. There’s a gigantic screen that slides out of the dashboard, serving as the infotainment system, another one on the tunnel that allows passengers to access different functions, and a digital screen behind the steering wheel. Four permanent magnet motors, with two-speed transmission, and a microturbine range exten...

Pininfarina’s HK GT Concept Displays Its Sleek Silhouette Ahead Of Geneva Premiere

Image
Less than a month ago, Pininfarina provided our first glimpse at a new concept car it has designed for the Hybrid Kinetic Group. Now it’s released a new image. Set to debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the HK GT will be the fourth such concept the Italian design house has cooked up for the Hong Kong-based automotive startup. We previously saw the fruits of their collaboration in the forms of the H600 sedan and K550 and K750 sport-utility vehicles. The new HK GT, however, looks poised to adopt an altogether more elegant form. As we can see from this more revealing image, the concept will feature giant gull-wing doors, opening upwards and slightly to the rear to reveal a four-seat cabin with no B-pillars to impede ingress and egress. Those big fancy doors are just one element of the design that, as you can see, will embrace Pininfarina’s signature elegant styling. A long bonnet leads to a swept-back greenhouse that looks to make something like the Porsche Panamera lo...

Pininfarina Teases Zero-Emission HK GT Concept For Geneva

Image
The HK GT is the fourth concept vehicle designed by Pininfarina, together with Hong Kong-based hi-tech firm Hybrid Kinetic Group. It will be unveiled in Geneva one year after the global debut of the H600 luxury sedan. The two companies also worked together on the five-seater K550 SUV and the seven-seater K750, both unveiled in Shanghai last year. With the HK GT, the goal was to re-interpret the idea of a Gran Turismo, using the classic architecture of the Italian automobile school, while continuing to refine the identity of the Hybrid Kinetic brand. Based on the teaser images, the concept will have a very streamlined and elegant exterior, with razor-sharp, horizontal taillights that pop out, similar to what we saw on the BMW 8-Series Concept. As for the interior, it looks both elegant as well as sporty, with what look like interactive displays embedded in the door panels. The new concept will be powered using a battery, electric motors, an electrical controller and a rang...
