2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo Is Lighter, Grippier And (Hopefully) More Exciting To Drive

Image
Nissan arrived at the New York Auto Show with a whole team of new models, including the updated for 2020MY Nissan GT-R Nismo. The king of the GT-R range received a number of revisions, aiming to make it even more exhilarating to drive but keeping the main power figures unchanged. This means that the hand-crafted twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 engine -which employs the same turbochargers with the GT-R GT3 race car- still produces 600hp and 481lb-ft (652Nm) of torque. Despite the same power figures, the race car-derived turbochargers now feature a modified turbine shape and fewer blades, while the six-speed dual-clutch transmission comes with an updated software, improving the adaptive shift control and a more refined ‘R’ mode. There’s also a revised titanium exhaust system. The Japanese car maker focused in other areas too in order to extract more speed, including weight and aerodynamics; each exterior panel made out carbon fiber -like bumpers, front fenders, hood, roof, side sill ...

Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept Unveiled Prior To Tokyo Show Debut

Image
After previewing the new Leaf Nismo Concept yesterday, Nissan has now pulled the cover off the show car officially, ahead of its public debut set for later this month, at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. As expected, the study, which is believed to preview a full production version, comes with a more aggressive body kit, highlighted by the tweaked bumpers, side skirts, rear diffuser, and red accents all around. Developed in-house by the brand's motorsports and tuning division, these updates are said to enhance its aero performance. There's also a few modest interior revisions, such as the red bits and pieces added around the air vents, on the seats, doors, and steering wheel. Then there's the push-button start with red surround, to remind drivers that this isn’t the regular version of the zero-emission car. Besides the visual mods, the Nissan Leaf Nismo Concept also gets a sport-tuned suspension and high-performance tires, alongside a "custom-tuned com...

2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO Makes Official Debut

Nissan launched their most hardcore version of the 2017 GT-R at the Nurburgring, the same place where it was developed, tested and signed off. Just like the standard GT-R, the NISMO version comes with a restyled front end, highlighted by a new and more aggressive bumper, a larger dark chrome V-motion grille and a reinforced hood that's supposed to avoid deformation at extremely high speeds. However, unlike  the regular model , the NISMO's front bumpers are made out of carbon fiber as designers looked to achieve the ideal amount of stiffness in a car built specifically for breaking lap records. Overall, the new GT-R NISMO generates more downforce than any other Nissan production car to date. In terms of power, while the regular 2017 GT-R puts down 570 PS (20 PS more than the 2016 model), the NISMO is good for 600 PS (441 kW), the same as before but more enjoyable thanks to the stiffened body structure and upgraded shock absorbers, springs and stabilizers. Compared to the  la...
