Audi is displaying no less than four new plug-in hybrid models at the Geneva Motor Show, namely the Audi A6L 55 TFSIe Quattro, A7 55 TFSIe Quattro, A8L 60 TFSIe Quattro, and the Q5 55 TFSIe Quattro. The quartet are confusingly named, but they do represent some of the most enticing variants of each respective model. Powering the Audi A6L 55 TFSIe Quattro, A7 55 TFSIe Quattro, and Q5 55 TFSIe Quattro are powertrains outputting 363 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. Lesser ’50 TFSIe’ models will also be offered for the A6, A7, and Q5. These models have 295 hp and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of twisting force. All models use a 14.1 kWh battery and have an all-electric range of 24.8 miles (40 km). Audi has unveiled plug-in hybrid versions of the Q5, A6, A7, and A8 prior to next month’s Geneva Motor Show. Starting with the most expensive ride of the bunch, we have the Audi A8 L 60 TFSI e quattro. This model is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 that’s paired with a synchronous electric motor, a 14.1 kWh battery pack and an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. It delivers 443 hp and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) and can run for 24.8 miles (40 km) on all-electric power. While the A8 enjoys a powertrain with well over 400 hp, the Audi Q5 50 TFSI e ‘comfort’, A6 TFSI 50 e ‘comfort’, and A7 50 TFSI e ‘comfort’ deliver 295 hp and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) in standard guise. Following a short teaser campaign, Audi has taken the wraps off the new A7 Sportback. Drawing inspiration from the prologue concept, the A7 adopts a stylish and upscale design with a wide Singleframe grille that is flanked by distinctive headlights and sporty air intakes. The unique styling continues further back as the car has been equipped with a sculpted hood, bold character lines, and a flowing roof. The rear of the car is "tapered like that of a yacht" and features an integrated spoiler that automatically extends at 120 km/h (74 mph). Designers also installed a full-length light strip which consists of 13 vertical segments that can play various light animations. Moving into the cabin, drivers will find an elegant and high-tech interior equipped with two touchscreen displays. Audi has started the teasing game for the new generation A7 Sportback, which will celebrate its premiere this Thursday. A teaser image posted on the company's official Twitter account partially reveals its silhouette, which continues to be sporty, in the same vein as its predecessor. The manufacturer wasn’t willing to reveal anything else about the car, but happily we have a pretty good idea of how it will look like, thanks to a scale model that ended up on the world wide web at the beginning of the month. At first glance, the 2018 Audi A7 Sportback carries an evolutionary design, with some styling cues taken from the Prologue Concept, but peel its skin away, and you will find the MLB Evo platform, which is shared with a bunch of new vehicles, including the Q5 and Q7. In 2014, Audi offered the world a glimpse at its new design language with the stunning Prologue Concept. Created by Audi design chief Marc Lichte, the Prologue was actually designed and created after styling work had already been completed on the next-generation A6, A7 and A8. Fast forward two and a half years and we now have our first chance to see the designs that influenced the Prologue. During an interview with French publication L'argus, Lichte displayed the front-end designs of the new A6, A7 and A8 and as we expected, they all look very similar and are clearly reminiscent of the Prologue. Starting with the new A8, it will fittingly have the largest front grille of the three while closely resembling the look of the existing model - though more menacing and refined.
