After a lengthy teaser campaign, Meizu finally unveiled its latest flagships with the Meizu 17 and 17 Pro. Spec-wise the two are nearly identical with the Pro featuring better auxiliary cameras, wireless charging and faster RAM. Visually the two are also almost indistinguishable with the only difference being the 17 Pro comes with a ceramic back. These are also the first 5G entries in Meizu's lineup. The Meizu 17 duo is built around 6.6-inch Super AMOLED displays with 90Hz refresh rate and a first for Meizu punch-hole cutout for the 20MP selfie camera. The panels come with an in-display fingerprint scanner, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and are HDR 10+ compliant. There’s also a dual speaker setup and Meizu’s new mEngine 3.0 haptic engine. A week after its parent company Huawei unveiled its latest P-series flagships, Honor took the wraps off the Honor 30S. While the lowest standing member of the 30 family, the Honor 30S packs some impressive specs, premium glass and aluminum design and dual-mode 5G thanks to the new Kirin 820 5G chipset. The Honor 30S boast a 6.5-inch FHD+ IPS display with a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner for the 16MP selfie camera. The right-hand-side houses the capacitive fingerprint scanner. Around the back sits a four-camera array housed in a square setup. There's a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP telephoto module with 3x optical and up to 20x hybrid zoom, an 8MP ultrawide snapper and a 2MP depth helper. Under the hood, we find the Kirin 820 5G chipset which packs an eight-core architecture with four ARM-Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.84GHz alongside four ARM-A76 cores with varying clock speeds. The Huawei P40 Pro+ is the Pro model dialed up to 11. The biggest improvement is to the zoom cameras (yes, plural), but Huawei also hit a new benchmark in wireless charging. The plus model uses a periscope lens with a focal length of 240mm, almost twice as long as the one on the P40 Pro (125mm). It's backed by an 8MP image sensor and feature OIS. That's the longest lens on mobile yet, but Huawei had to craft a unique design to achieve it. The Pro+ has an additional telephoto camera - 80mm lens - to bridge the gap between the extreme telephoto and the regular camera. This gives you more flexibility and allows you to capture high-quality photos at various distances. The P40 Pro+ is the first phone to achieve 40W wireless charging. It's that time of the year again - Huawei and its partner Leica are starting a new chapter in smartphone photography. The smartphone manufacturer also did much to improve the hardware on the front of its P40 flagships and it hit a new milestone in wireless charging speeds. Huawei P40 Pro The Huawei P40 Pro takes inspiration from both the P30 and Mate 30, but surpasses them both in terms of features. Huawei's usual drive to perfect the camera is as strong as ever, but this year the company did much to improve the screen as well. It calls it an "Overflow Display" with four curved edges, all sides sweeping down to the frame of the phone. Another notable change is move away from the wide notch and towards a smaller (if not really "small") pill-shaped punch hole. The Redmi K30 Pro and K30 Pro Zoom are here, after weeks of teasers and speculations. They bring a radically different design compared to the K30 and K30 5G with a pop-up selfie camera and quad rear shooters housed in a circular setup. As expected they also come with the flagship Snapdragon 865 chipset, complete with X55 modem for 5G connectivity and larger 4,700 mAh batteries. In fact, the two K30 Pro versions are identical save for one of the cameras on the back. The Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro are finally official with four cameras apiece and Snapdragon 865. Both phones support wireless charging and are the first Mi branded devices with a punch hole in the display for the selfie camera. Their headline feature is on the back though - the 108MP sensor as first seen on the Mi Note 10. They also come will great connectivity support - going all the way to SA and NSA 5G and Wi-Fi 6. The Mercedes-Maybach GLS has been a long time coming, but now it’s finally here – except it debuts at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China instead of the ongoing LA Auto Show. Marking the first time the Maybach emblem is put on a production model that’s not an S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC represents Stuttgart’s pinnacle in luxury SUVs. As such, it is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 550 HP (558 PS) at 6,000 – 6,500 rpm and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque at 2,500 – 5,000 rpm. This engine variant was developed exclusively for Maybach and is combined with the 48-volt system EQ Boost, which adds 22 HP (16 kW) of power and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of instant torque. Chinese luxury brand Hongqi is one of the surprise exhibitors at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show considering that so many other brands much more popular in Europe are missing. Hongqi’s stand features only two exhibits but it’s safe to say they serve the purpose of raising awareness of the FAW Group-owned luxury brand among the show visitors. The first and more spectacular of the two design studies is called Hongqi S9 and is the brand’s first hypercar designed and built in house. According to FAW Group chairman Xu Liuping, the Hongqi S9 Concept packs a “V8T hybrid power system,” leading us to believe the powertrain combines a turbocharged V8 gasoline engine with one or several electric motors. Hongqi claims the S9’s hybrid powertrain delivers a maximum power of 1,400 horsepower, allowing the hypercar to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 1.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 400 km/h (249 mph). Celebrating its world debut at the Shanghai Auto Show, the Lexus LM is a flagship luxury MPV developed specifically for the Chinese market. However, it will go on sale on other Asian markets too — unfortunately, Lexus didn’t announce plans to offer it outside the world’s most populous continent. Lexus says the new LM integrates oriental car philosophy, combining unique craftsmanship with hospitality and comfortable driving experience. While it looks quite attractive on the outside (despite sporting the biggest spindle-grille we’ve seen so far), the Lexus LM is all about the interior. This is the Audi AI:ME, introduced at the Shanghai Auto Show as a “visionary mobility concept for the megacities of the future.” The AI:ME is powered by a 65 kWh battery pack and a synchronous electric motor producing 170 hp and located at the rear axle. Audi hasn’t stated a theoretical range for the electric city car but says that because it is catered towards slow driving, acceleration and top speeds figures are irrelevant as the car would spend most of its time traveling between 20 km/h and 70 km/h (12.4 mph to 43.5 mph). The concept has an overall length of 4.3 meters (14.1 feet), a width of 1.9 meters (6.2 feet), and a height of 1.52 meters (5 feet). A long wheelbase of 2.77 meters (9 feet) has allowed Audi to maximize interior space and reduce the front and rear overhangs.
