The Geneva Motor Show might be cancelled, but that hasn’t stopped McLaren from unveiling the all-new 765LT. Set to become the latest Longtail model, the 765LT is a lighter and more powerful take on the already impressive 720S. In typical fashion, the car has been given a carbon fiber intensive aerodynamics package. It includes an extended front splitter, modified bumpers and revised skirt skirts. The model also has unique door blades, a larger diffuser and an active  Longtail rear wing. The latter is the car’s most distinctive feature and it aids powertrain cooling by drawing hot air out of the engine bay. It also features an airbrake function and a variety of settings which either optimize downforce or reduce drag. Besides the unique rear wing, the 765LT has ultra-lightweight forged alloy wheels with titanium bolts. They’re wrapped in bespoke Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. While there’s a brand new McLaren model coming to the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed next month, the official unveiling will thankfully take place sooner, on June 28th, in an online setting. The car, previously teased at the beginning of June, hinted at a new location for its dual exhausts, which were removed from the diffuser and planted behind the engine cover – sort of like what they did for the Senna. So if you thought they would go the same route as with the 675LT or the 720S, this latest teaser proves otherwise. This new model, announced under McLaren’s Track22 business plan, will be driven up the Goodwood Hill Climb for the very first time on Thursday, July 12. It will feature more power, minimized weight, optimized aerodynamics and better driver engagement. McLaren Automotive chief executive Mike Flewitt has confirmed that an LT version of the brand new 720S will be created. The carmaker famously resurrected the Longtail or LT name for the 675LT in 2015 and positioned the car as a faster, lighter and more hardcore variant of the 650S. McLaren thinks the popularity of the LT model can be replicated for the second-generation Super Series. “The 675LT was a huge success. I was delighted from a market perspective, but also internally because we love that car. We have a huge enthusiasm for it. We’ll certainly repeat Long Tail, and now that the LT brand is established, if we announce an LT derivative of a car, then everyone will know what to expect: that it will be lighter, the chassis dynamics will be way sharper, and it will have more power.
