Borgward Unveils The BX6 Crossover Coupe And Electric BXi7

Image
Borgward has used the company’s academy of engineering ceremony to unveil the new BX6 and BXi7. Starting with the BX6, the model is a compact crossover coupe which is designed to appeal to younger customers thanks to its “personalized look and aerodynamic optimization.” The draws inspiration from the BMW X4 and it features a prominent grille that is flanked by slender headlights and LED daytime running lights. Moving further back, we can see plastic body cladding, a dual exhaust system and a coupe-like design which isn’t very flattering. The interior is another story as the model comes nicely equipped with a sport steering wheel, leather seats and wood trim. Other highlights include a 10-way power driver’s seat, a push button ignition and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. Drivers will also find an infotainment system with an eight-inch display. Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that produces 221 hp (165 kW / 224 PS) and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of t...

Borgward Unveils Future-Focused Isabella EV Concept

Image
According to Borgward, the Isabella Concept is a modern interpretation of the classic model, featuring a revolutionary interior, a sleek body and generous dimensions. As an incarnation of the legendary Isabella of the 1950's, this concept is said to embody the future focus of Borgward, with regard to design and drive technology. On paper, the Isabella Concept is a four-door, four seat coupe, following the company's design principle of "Impression of Flow" - which will be applied to all vehicles in the future. "The carefully coordinated body shape with its smooth transitions creates a perfect balance between rounded organic shapes and precise lines. Our aim was to create stylistic synergies between beauty and technology," said Borgward design boss, Anders Warming. The concept, unveiled in Frankfurt, measures 5.00 meters (196.8 in) in length, stands 1.4 meters (55.1 in) high and 1.9 meters (74.8 in) wide. It also has flowing three-dimensional and...

Borgward Releases Second Teaser Of Frankfurt Concept

Image
Borgward has released a second teaser image of the concept car it will debut at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Whereas the first teaser revealed the car’s curvaceous hood and bulging arches, this teaser provides us with a look at the concept’s rear and side and shows that it’ll be dramatically different to the SUV models which Borgward has reinvented itself with. At the rear, we can see a taillight not too dissimilar to a warped Nike tick while a prominent C-pillar attaching to the body just above the rear wheel also stands out. The doors of the concept are rather head-scratching and unconventional and could perhaps open upwards like a gullwing or the entire glass canopy may lift up at once. The automaker has paired the teaser with a simple statement reading “She is back! Part two.” Following the release of the first image, some speculated that the concept could be a modern interpretation of the much-loved Isabella. Carscoops

Borgward Teases Concept Ahead Of Frankfurt Debut

Image
Prior to September’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Borgward has released a teaser image of a new concept it will debut at the event. Few details about the vehicle are known but the teaser clearly shows that it will not be an SUV like the revived company’s existing models. Instead, it appears to be a low-slung sports car with prominent wheel arches, a curvaceous hood and low windscreen. According to reports, the vehicle could use some form of electric powertrain and act as a precursor to a future production vehicle, potentially a modern-day successor to the much-loved Isabella. It should also help attract attention to the brand as it tackles the difficult task of competing in the crowded SUV space. Stay tuned for more about the concept as its premiere nears. Carscoops

Image
After showcasing the BX7 SUV at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt, Borgward is back with two  new propositions  for the booming mid-size SUV segment.  Yes, the SUV/Crossover market is about to get bigger thanks to the car maker’s plans to expand its line-up with two new interesting models, presented in pre-production form at Geneva: The Projekt BX6 TS and the BX5. As their names hint, these two models would sit below  the bigger BX7 . Described as a “prototype approaching the series-production stage”, the (red) BX5 features equipment based largely on mass-production technology as well as plug-in-hybrid drive system composed of an internal combustion engine and electric motor (developing a total output of 258 hp). Unlike its bigger sibling, the BX5 has a more dynamic, chiseled look, in spite of measuring 4,483 mm in length, 1,876 mm in width and 1,677 mm in height. Its overall design and style is somewhat reminiscent of Mazda’s CX-5 model, but it remains an interesting pro...
