GAC’s 7-Seat Entranze Is Chinese Brand’s First US-Designed Concept

Image
China’s GAC has returned to the North American International Auto Show to introduce their new Entranze concept. Essentially a futuristic crossover-minivan combo, the Entranze is the first concept created by the company’s new design studio in California. That’s worth noting as the automaker says the model was partially inspired by coastal architecture that “blurs the barriers between indoor and outdoor living.” The coastal inspiration isn’t readily apparent, but the Entranze has “foldable rocker panels” that can transform into a makeshift bench. The van also sports “patio-inspired sliding glass doors” which make entry and egress a breeze. Once drivers enter the cabin, they’re greeted by a bench seat, a unique steering wheel and an assortment of OLED displays. While it’s not uncommon for modern vehicles to have two or three displays, the Entranze appears to have at least eight different displays including a massive screen for the front passenger. When not in use, the la...

GAC To Unveil Electric Entranze Concept At Detroit Auto Show

Image
Chinese car manufacturer GAC is heading to next week’s Detroit Auto Show 2019 and will bring with it an all-new concept. The vehicle, dubbed the Entranze, has been defined by the company as a “hyper-modern family vehicle” that will take the form of an all-electric MPV. The vehicle will arrive with a selection of “intelligent system technologies, sustainability features and automated driving.” While GAC refers to the Entranze as an MPV in one statement issued to the press, another asserts that the concept will be a “7-seater SUV”. Whatever the case may be, it appears as though the vehicle will be rather unconventional and laden with “technology and ergonomics to make driving easier and more pleasurable.” In addition to the Entranze, GAC will also bring the GM6 minivan to Detroit where it will enjoy its first appearance outside China. The large van includes a semi-autonomous driving system, 99 square feet of cargo space, and offers spacious seating throughout. Also making an a...

GAC Aims To Battle Tesla With Its New Aion S Electric Vehicle

Image
GAC Motors has announced its intention to beat Tesla by unveiling the new Aion S at the Guangzhou Motor Show. Set to be launched in China next year, the Aion S is an electric sedan that has been designed to provide customers with Tesla-like performance at a “reasonable price.” GAC was tight-lipped about specifics, but the model features an aerodynamic exterior with a drag coefficient of 0.245. The company says this is roughly the same as the Tesla Model 3. Besides being extremely aerodynamic, the Aion S features a fairly conventional front fascia with a slender grille that is flanked by LED headlights. Further below, we can see large air intakes which appear to be just for show. Moving further back, the Aion S has stylish wheels and an available solar roof. The model also has LED taillights and black accents that cut through the C-pillars. While GAC didn’t mention performance specifications, the company confirmed the car will have a range in excess of 310 miles (500 ...

GAC Motor has released the first teaser image of the upcoming Enverge concept. Set to debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week, the Enverge is a compact crossover that has been designed specifically for the North American market. Little is known about the model but it will be an electric vehicle that features "cutting-edge technologies." That's not much to go on but the teaser image shows the Enverge will have sporty styling and massive five-spoke alloy wheels. We can also see a rakish windscreen, slender headlights, and a coupe-like design. Besides showing the Enverge, GAC will introduce the new GA4. The model is billed as a mainstream sedan that will be built on the company's A-Class sedan platform. The sedan will be shown alongside a handful of other models including the GA8, GS8, and GM8. GAC intends to enter the U.S. market in 2019 and the company's president Yu Jun said "The American market has the strictest standards, laws and regulations, s...

China's GAC Motors Announces Three Debuts For Detroit Show

Image
After sitting quietly on the sidelines of the 2013 and 2015 Detroit shows,  state-owned Chinese automaker GAC  will now have their own space on the main floor, in Motor City.  This is actually the first time that a  Chinese car manufacturer  has its own stand in Detroit, and since this is big news for the company, they're taking advantage of it by announcing three debuts.  The first one is a boxy-looking SUV, called the GS7, which may look similar to the GS8, but is actually smaller and comes with five seats instead of seven,  MotorTrend  writes, while  CarNewsChina  adds that it will be powered by a 201 HP and 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) of torque 2.0-liter turbo, mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Additionally, a 1.5-liter powered version of the GS7 is also believed to be on display.  Joining the likes of the  production SUV  are two concept cars, called EnSpirit and GE3. Both of them are expected to preview production ve...
