This is the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, the production version of the top speed prototype that recently smashed through the 300 mph (482 km/h) barrier to establish a new benchmark for a road car. The production-ready version looks virtually identical to the prototype and is bathed in the same carbon fiber skin with bright orange accents, much like the Veyron Super Sport. This means the front end is dominated by a blacked-out horseshoe grille and aggressive air intakes that make the ‘regular’ Chiron seem restrained. There are also circular air vents sitting at the top of both front wheel arches. The rear is where most of the visual and aerodynamic changes were made. As such, the rear decklid is much longer than the standard Chiron and now supports a bespoke engine cover. Toyota Gazoo Racing has used the 24 Hours of Le Mans of announce plans to build a next-generation super sports car. The company was tight-lipped on specifics but seemed to suggest the car was previewed by the GR Super Sport concept. While Toyota wasn’t ready to go into details, the automaker said the production model is already under development and will use “cutting-edge hybrid electric systems and fuel efficiency technologies” that the World Endurance Championship team has tested and refined over the past six years. In a statement, Toyota Gazoo Racing President Shigeki Tomoyama said “Competing in the World Endurance Championship – one of the most demanding motorsport series – and racing at Le Mans helps us to advance the development of our world-leading hybrid electric technology and enables us to transfer the knowledge we gain to our production cars.” He went on to say the automotive industry is “approaching an era of big changes” and Toyota still has a “passion for making ca...

While the world is still waiting for the new Supra to finally break cover, Toyota has dropped a teaser for a new Super Sport Concept coming from its performance Gazoo Racing department. The new supercar concept will debut at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon as a Le Mans-inspired flagship of the GR range. Toyota says that the concept will exhibit how they can apply the lessons learned from their participation in the WEC racing series to a car for the street, with the single teaser image revealing a pretty hardcore automobile. So far there’s no official information on whether Toyota is actually thinking of putting a car like the upcoming Super Sport Concept into production, leading us to believe that this is still to be decided. The new supercar concept will debut on January 12 at the Tokyo Auto Salon, along with Toyota’s new WEC racers and production models such as the Toyota 86 GR and the Vitz GRMN. Carscoops
