2020 Cadillac CT5 Is A Compact (Priced) Sports Sedan The Size Of A BMW 5-Series

Cadillac revealed a common ATS and CTS replacement, the CT5, last month ahead of its public debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show, without going into much detail about the car. Now, GM’s premium brand has released a full specs sheet of the CT5, allowing us to have a better understanding of what it is. According to Caddy, the CT5 will be classified as a compact sedan, even though its mid-size saloon dimensions would have you think it’s positioned to take on the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. The 2020 CT5 measures 193.8 inches (4,924 mm) in length, 74.1 inches (1,883 mm) in width and 57.2 inches (1,452 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 116.0 inches (2,947 mm). Despite its Fastback styling, it’s almost as long as a BMW 5-Series, which measures 194.3 inches (4,936 mm) bumper to bumper. Meanwhile, the CT5’s wheelbase is actually longer than that of an Audi A6 (115.1 inches / 2,924 mm). Also, here’s how it compares to a 2019 CTS: 114.6 inch...

2020 Cadillac CT5 Is A Replacement For The ATS And CTS

Image
While some automakers believe that sedans have no future in today’s SUV-saturated market, Cadillac is still betting on premium saloons and has just unveiled the all-new CT5. Serving as a replacement for both the ATS and the CTS, it slots under the CT6 and has just made an online appearance, prior to its 2019 New York Auto Show premiere that’s set for next month. The modern Cadillac styling language is present, although with a few unique touches inspired by the Escala Concept. As a result, the CT5 comes with a pair of slim headlights, vertical DRLs and muscular lines that run across the length of the hood. It also has a sporty profile with the slightly sloping roofline. When it will go on sale later this year, the CT5 will be available in two trim levels, Sport and Luxury. The first one is depicted in the image gallery with a grey look and darkened taillights, whereas the second one has a dark red finish and red taillights. A single image released by the automaker...

Cadillac President Confirms New CT5, Will Replace The ATS, CTS, And XTS

Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen has confirmed plans to eliminate a number of sedans as the company tries to accommodate customers who can't get enough crossovers. Speaking with Reuters, de Nysschen confirmed "We have to rebalance our sedan portfolio" and this will spell the end for the ATS, CTS, and XTS. The models won't be phased out overnight but the company doesn't plan to replace them once their lifecycles end in 2019. Instead, the company will launch an all-new CT5 which is designed to appeal customers looking for a sedan that costs between $35,000 and $45,000. For comparison, the ATS starts $34,595 while the CTS and XTS both start around $45,500. The CT5 will eventually be joined by a new entry-level sedan that will compete with models such as the Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA. Despite previous reports, the CT6 will continue to be a mainstay of Cadillac's lineup and will serve as the brand's flagship sedan. Cadillac needs more crossovers...
