Gordon Murray is best-known for creating the McLaren F1 and now he’s following up with a spiritual successor of sorts known as the T.50. Designed to be the purest, lightest and most driver-centric supercar ever created, the T.50 improves on the McLaren F1 “in every conceivable way.” Of course, that’s a bit subjective as T.50 looks like a McLaren and a Porsche 918 Spyder. That being said, the car does take the idea of the F1 into the modern era. Starting up front, there’s a wedge-shaped nose which features a pair of F1-inspired LED headlights. The model also has a rakish windscreen, dihedral doors and engine covers that open upwards. The design of the doors is echoed on the glass roof, but the most notable characteristic is the roof-mounted scoop which feeds air to the naturally-aspirated V12 engine. Aston Martin is presenting the new V12 Speedster, a screen-less bespoke supercar designed to be an “uncompromising, visceral two-seater” for a few lucky customers. The new Aston Martin V12 Speedster draws inspiration from the company’s rich racing history and will be produced by the company’s Q division in just 88 examples, each priced at £765,000 ($1 million). Power comes from a twin-turbo 5.2-liter V12 engine, which is tuned to produce 690 HP (700 PS) and 555 lb-ft (752 Nm) of torque. That’s enough firepower to send the new Aston Martin V12 Speedster from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). After months of teasing, Aston Martin has finally confirmed the Valkyrie’s naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine will produce a staggering 1,000 hp (745 kW / 1,013 PS). Jointly developed with Cosworth, the V12 is being billed as the “ultimate expression of the internal combustion engine.” It’s hard to argue with that sentiment as the engine revs to a ridiculous 11,100 RPM and develops 153.8 hp (114.7 kW / 155.9 PS) per liter. Those are some pretty impressive numbers, but the engine is surprisingly light on torque as it peaks at 545 lb-ft (740 Nm). Of course, those specifications don’t tell the whole story as the Valkyrie will be “further boosted by a battery hybrid system.” Aston Martin is keeping details under wraps, but previous reports have suggested the model will have a combined output of 1,130 hp (842 kW / 1,145 PS). The upcoming Aventador SVJ is not only the fastest production car around the Nurburgring, but it also marks the end of an era for Lamborghini, as it will reportedly be the company’s last V12-powered supercar without any form of electrification. The news came straight from Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini’s R&D boss, who told Top Gear that “this is the last time the V12 will be on its own“. That’s right; next time you see a Lamborghini V12 model, it will be electrically assisted. The tailor-made Vantage GT12 Roadster is Aston Martin's most extreme open-top model ever thanks to its naturally aspirated 600 PS (591 HP) V12 and track-oriented chassis setup. It was conceived and delivered by 'Q by Aston Martin' over a nine month period and draws its origins from the Vantage GT12 Coupe version, adding the thrill of open-top driving and of course better access to the 6.0-liter V12's soundtrack.
