Jaguar has returned to the estate executive segment with the all-new XF Sportbrake. Challenging the likes of the BMW 5-Series Touring, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate, Audi A6 Avant, and Volvo V90, among others, the brand's latest model is based on the second-generation saloon and was presented at the brand's Castle Bromwich plant, in UK, where it will hit the assembly lines soon. "As with the XF saloon, every line on the Sportbrake serves a clear purpose, creating a fast sweeping silhouette", said Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum. Jaguar are getting ready to welcome a new member to their family - the 2018 XF Sportbrake. Teased on a couple of occasions, by having its silhouette painted into the Wimbledon Center Court, and by revealing it from above, the wagon will use the same aluminum architecture as its four-door sibling. Challenging the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate, BMW 5-Series Touring, and Volvo V90, the latest Jaguar XF Sportbrake will also share most (if not all) of its entire engine lineup with the second-generation executive saloon. This includes the 2.0-liter diesel that will likely be offered as an entry-level solution, alongside the usual 3.0-liter V6 units, and the new 2.0-liter four-banger petrol, which is also expected to join the lineup, as part of the Ingenium family. Lesser models will have to do with a six-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, but the most potent grades will get an eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive. Jaguar has just dropped the first official image of the  latest XF Sportbrake  set to be revealed sometime next year. Although the car pictured is only a prototype, it gives us a taste of the finished car's design which from the front, looks identical to the  sedan . After the B-pillar however, the sleek and flowing roof line of the sedan makes way for a more boxy rear end and much larger rear side windows. The angle of the rear window is difficult to decipher from this image as there appears to be some body cladding hiding its true shape. If the  previous-generation  XF Sportbrake is anything to go by, expect a rather narrow rear window with the inclusion of a small roof-mounted spoiler. Jaguar stretched the wheelbase of the  XF  and has just launched it at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. With the  new Mercedes-Benz E-Class L  in its sights, the long wheelbase version of the XF is aimed to those who cannot afford or simply don't want the XJ, but would appreciate an extra 157 mm (6.1 inches) of legroom and 116 mm (4.5 inches) of knee room for rear passengers, thanks to the 140 mm (5.5 inches) increased wheelbase.  Compared to the standard XF, the  XFL remains identical , except for the stretched rear doors and obvious increased length.
