2019 Jaguar I-PACE Is A 395HP, All-Electric Tesla Model X Rival

Image
Jaguar has just unveiled it’s first ever all-electric vehicle, the I-PACE. It promises sports car performance, next-gen AI technology, combined with the practicality of an SUV. Thanks to a 90kWh Lithium-ion battery with 432 pouch cells, the I-PACE claims a maximum range of 298 miles (475 km), with owners then able to charge the car to 80% in 85 minutes using 50kW DC charging. Go for a 100kW rapid charger, and that time drops to just 40 minutes. “We set out with a clean sheet approach to harness new battery electric technology with an architecture engineered from the outset to optimize performance, aerodynamics and interior space. The result is the I-PACE – a true Jaguar and truly driver-focused EV,” stated company exec, Ian Hoban. “For I-PACE customers – fuel stations are a thing of the past, after overnight charging they’ll wake up every morning with a ‘full tank of fuel’!” Those who will utilize home charging via an AC wall box (7kW), will get to 80% charge in ...

Road-Going Jaguar I-Pace Launching At Geneva Motor Show

Image
Jaguar has confirmed that the production-spec I-Pace will premiere at March’s Geneva Motor Show. The eye-catching crossover is the carmaker’s first all-electric vehicle and will directly rival the Tesla Model X. Unlike the Tesla, however, the I-Pace won’t look like a bloated¬ sedan and instead more closely resemble a sporty luxury car fitting of the Jaguar badge. As we’ve seen from recent spy shots, the road-going I-Pace will be very similar to the original concept in terms of both its interior and exterior designs. As such, the crossover will adopt very short front and rear overhangs, allowing Jaguar designers to maximize interior space and to keep the vehicle’s dimensions within a normal range. One of the biggest question marks about the new I-Pace relates to its powertrain. In concept form, the vehicle uses electric motors at both the front and rear axles, producing a combined 400 hp and 700 Nm of torque with permanent all-wheel drive. A 90 kWh battery was also featured, as...

Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy Races Online Ahead Of Its Frankfurt Debut

Image
The Frankfurt news continues as the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy has made an early appearance, courtesy of Wheelsage. Apparently based on the I-Pace concept, the I-Pace eTrophy is a high-performance electric vehicle which features an aggressive front fascia with large air intakes and a prominent splitter. The car has also been equipped with front fender vents, aerodynamic side skirts, and flush-mounted door handles. The hardcore treatment continues at the rear as designers installed a massive rear wing, a trunk-mounted spoiler, and a large diffuser. Other notable features include a ventilated hood and lightweight alloy wheels which are backed up by a high-performance braking system. The pictures give us a few glimpses of the cabin and we can see the I-Pace eTrophy will come with a roll cage and a mesh window net. There only appears to be one seat but we'll likely find out for sure tomorrow. Performance specifications remain unknown but the original I-Pace concept ha...

Production-Spec Jaguar I-Pace To Debut In Frankfurt

Image
Jaguar will unveil the road-going I-Pace at September’s Frankfurt Auto Show, just six months after the concept’s European premiere in Geneva. The British carmaker’s design chief, Ian Callum, has revealed that the styling of the concept is about 80 per cent production ready, meaning the finished product will inevitably benefit from the same spacious cabin and short front and rear overhangs. In terms of the I-Pace’s powertrain, it should remain almost identical to the concept. That means that it will combine two electric motors with a 90 kWh battery and be capable of travelling at least 300 miles (482 km) on a single charge. It will also churn out 395 hp and 700 Nm of torque. The batteries, developed in-house by Jaguar, can charge to 80 per cent capacity in 90 minutes and 100 per cent in a little over two hours when plugged into a 50kW DC charging point. As with most electric cars, the I-Pace won’t be light. In fact, Auto Express thinks it will weigh approximately 2,100 kg (4,60...

Jaguar’s Tesla Model X-Rivalling I-PACE Electric Crossover Concept Wears Red For Geneva

Image
The Jaguar I-PACE Concept is set to make its European debut on March 7th at the Geneva Motor Show, showcasing a new color called Photon Red. Unveiled last year during the LA Auto Show, the I-PACE Concept is meant to represent a new era for Jaguar, teasing the brand's first-ever electric model, expected to arrive sometime next year. It's a sports crossover that places it against the Tesla Model X. "The I-PACE Concept is a radical departure for electric vehicles. It represents the next generation of battery electric vehicle design. It's a dramatic, future-facing design - the product of authentic Jaguar DNA matched with beautiful, premium details and British craftsmanship," said design boss Ian Callum. "This isn't just a concept. It is a preview of a five-seat production car that will be on the road in 2018. This will be Jaguar's first-ever battery-powered electric vehicle and opens a new chapter in the history of our legendary brand." In...
