Audi SQ8 Caught Undisguised, Will Likely Feature 500 HP Hybrid V6

Image
This is the upcoming S version of the new Audi Q8, spotted free of camouflage during its late development stage. A recent report on the range-topping RS Q8 claimed that it will feature the same plug-in hybrid powertrain used by the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, where it makes 671 HP. That, however, would make it more powerful than the Lamborghini Urus, which, given that both companies fall under the VW Group umbrella, seems unlikely. Besides, Audi has teased the production SQ8 with the Q8 Sport Concept that was powered by a mild hybrid powertrain consisting of a 443hp 3.0-liter V6 TFSI hooked up with a 27hp electric motor, offering a total of 469hp (476PS) and 516lb-ft (700Nm) of torque – something that seems more plausible. The car will feature the brand’s 48-volt electrical architecture and a small lithium-ion battery pack mounted under the boot. The SQ8’s V6 engine is also expected to feature an electric compressor along with a traditional turbocharger, a technology...

Audi Q-Family Joins SUV Coupe Movement With Brand New Q8

Image
Gone are the days in which the only premium mid-size SUV Coupes you could buy were the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. Now, Ingolstadt has joined the mix with an SUV unlike any other Q-family member. The Q8 will reach its European customers in the third quarter of 2018, bringing with it a “versatile, sporty and elegant” package that’s meant to be both dynamic as well as prestigious-looking, according to the German automaker. Bumper to bumper, the Audi Q8 is 4.99 meters (16.4 ft) long, with a width of 2.00 meters (6.6 ft) and a height of 1.71 meters (5.6 ft), making it wider, shorter and lower than the Q7. As for the wheelbase, it’s nearly 3.00 meters long (9.8 ft), resulting in a more spacious interior than that of its direct competitors when it comes to cabin length and headroom. If you want precise measurements, we can tell you that the Q8 is ever so slightly longer, wider and shorter than the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, while also edging out the BMW X6 when it...

Audi Q8 Shows Off Stylish Lines In New Teaser Photos

Image
Audi has been teasing a mysterious model on Facebook and Twitter recently and the company has finally released a revealing teaser image which appears to show the Q8. The company isn’t saying much about the model but promised it will be introduced shortly and this suggests an unveiling at Auto China. Audi went on to say the crossover “carries the gene of the Urquattro” and sports a “new face with luxury class prestige engraved into every detail.” That’s not much to go one but the teaser images show the Q8 will have a wide Singleframe grille and sporty styling cues. Details are hard to make out but the photoluminescent tape reveals a sloping roof which meets a rakish D-pillar. We can also see muscular rear fenders, massive alloy wheels and slender taillights. Since the model was previewed by the Q8 and Q8 Sport concepts, we can also expect a sporty front fascia with large air intakes. The interior promises to be high-tech and luxurious as photos have shown drivers will s...

Audi Q4 Will be Produced In Hungary, Q8 In Slovakia

Image
After officially confirming their plans to launch the new Q4 in 2019 last month, Audi have now announced that the Gyor, Hungary plant will be responsible for its production. Audi has yet to detail the car, but says that the new Q4 will benefit from a coupe-like silhouette and will slot between Q3 and Q5. It's believed that the latest member of the brand's 'Q' family of SUVs will share the same underpinnings and some of the powertrains as the latest Q5, while adding more premium materials inside. It will challenge the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, BMW X4 and Range Rover Evoque. Joining it on the same assembly lines in Hungary will be the next Q3, starting in 2018, but until then, the compact vehicle will continue to be produced in Martorell, Spain. Said to "combine great spaciousness with emotive design", and to offer "the latest technologies in assistance and infotainment systems", the Q8 will also join the lineup, and will be produc...

New Audi Q8 Sport Concept Is A 469HP SUV Heading Our Way Fast

Image
This is the Audi Q8 Sport Concept, a mild hybrid sporty SUV and the second Q8 concept after the original’s debut at the last Detroit Motor Show. Audi has pulled the wraps off their new SUV concept at the Geneva Motor Show, with the concept itself being powered by a mild hybrid powertrain that produces 469hp (476PS) and 516lb-ft (700Nm) of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 170mph (275km/h). The hybrid powertrain is new and combines a 443hp 3.0-litre V6 TFSI with a 27hp (20kW) electric motor while a 48-volt electrical system is responsible for keeping the electricity flowing. A small lithium-ion battery pack, mounted under the luggage compartment, can provide enough power to move the car in stop-start traffic as well as allowing for maneuvering and parking under electric power alone. The overall driving range is up to 746 miles (1,200km) with a 85-litre fuel tank. The real party trick though is the electric compr...

Audi Q8 Concept Is A Striking Taste Of Big Things To Come

Image
The Q7 is where it all started for Audi in the crossover market, and it has remained its flagship model ever since. But at the  Detroit Auto Show  today, the German automaker took the wraps off the imposing  Q8 concept  you see here – and what's more is that it has every intention of putting it into production. Though its more streamlined roofline leaves the concept with ample room for only four occupants inside, the Q8 is actually longer and wider than the  second-generation Q7 introduced at the same show two years ago . The concept also much more aggressive visually, its oversized octagonal grille capping a more couple-like form, with frameless windows, muscular shoulders, and 23-inch wheels packing 20-inch ceramic brake rotors in the grandest of show-stopping style. Created as a showpiece for what the brand stands for, Audi has fitted it with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that mates a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with a supplemental electric motor and eight-spe...

This Is Audi’s Detroit Auto Show Q8 Flagship SUV Concept

Image
With less than three weeks to go for the Detroit Auto Show, the first teasers of Audi’s new  production-intent Q8  concept have emerged on the internet. Official sketches of the Q8 flagship SUV were shared by German news site  Welt  which spoke to Audi chief designer, March Lichte, about the brand’s future plans.  One of Lichte’s first projects at Audi, the Q8 will sit alongside the A8 at the top of the brand’s current lineup, with the model described as a cross between a traditional “SUV and a Sport Coupe”.  While similar in philosophy to BMW’s X6 and Mercedes-Benz’s GLE Coupe, the Q8 is believed to be placed above those models in in terms of size, pricing and features, maybe even targeting the Bentley Bentayga and Porsche Cayenne, with which it shares its MLB-EVO platform that also forms the base for Audi’s Q7  and next A8 .  Lichte did not divulge any details about the concept’s powertrain, but the production model that will be introduced in...
