2021 Cadillac Escalade Embraces Luxury And Tech To Distance Itself From Tahoe And Yukon

Image
If one model defines a brand, you’d be hard pressed to find a more fitting example than Cadillac and the Escalade. Introduced over 20 years ago, the Escalade went from a rebadged GMC Yukon Denali to an American status symbol embraced by everyone from rappers to business executives. However, the SUV has lost some of its luster as other luxury brands have slowly entered the segment. Cadillac is now fighting back with an all-new Escalade that is far more luxurious and differentiated than its predecessor. That being said, the redesigned model also benefits from the improvements made to the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. The Escalade is known for its somewhat brash appearance, but the fifth-generation model tones things down as it features an all-new design that follows in the footsteps of the XT6. As a result, the SUV has an upright grille which is flanked by horizontal headlights. The latter are joined by vertical LED daytime running lights which are a hallmark of the bra...

2022 Fisker Ocean Has Promising Debut At CES, Is Still Two Years Away

Image
Fisker’s long-awaited Ocean electric luxury SUV has finally made its world debut at CES 2020, but that doesn’t mean we’ll get to see it on our roads anytime soon. Following a business model pioneered by Tesla, Fisker is first showing people the vehicle in the hope of getting enough deposits and investments to start production. Initially, Fisker announced an all-inclusive lease model, but has now added a full purchase option too. In the United States, customers need to pay a $250 reservation fee for either the full purchase option or the flexible lease program. For those who want to take full ownership of the vehicle, prices will start at $37,499 – or $29,999 after the available $7,500 U.S. federal tax credit is applied. That’s a very competitive price but the flexible lease model is even more enticing. Drivers can get behind the wheel of the Fisker Ocean from $379 a month, with $2,999 down before delivery in 2022 (which includes both initiation and activation fees). For cre...

FCA’s Airflow Vision Concept Is The Luxury Crossover Chrysler Needs

Image
The Chrysler Airflow was decades ahead of its time as the model was one of the first vehicles to be designed with aerodynamics in mind. While the car was a flop, FCA is dusting off the moniker for use on the new Airflow Vision concept. Billed as the next-generation of premium transportation, the Airflow Vision was designed to appeal to customers who want a first-class travel experience and a high-tech interior. The concept is loosely based on the Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, but it adopts a more dynamic exterior that “hints at the future of premium design.” Minivan styling cues have been dropped and overall design is closer to a crossover. Up front, there are slender LED headlights which reside above a slim grille. Further below, there’s an aerodynamic fascia which flows into the front fenders. Continuing further back, there’s a rakish windscreen and a gently sloping roof. The model also lacks doors and has unique wheels that draw inspiration from the “mechanical ele...

2020 Corvette C8 Is America’s Mid-Engine Sports Car For The Masses

Image
Chevrolet has officially unveiled the 2020 Corvette Stingray. One of this year’s most highly anticipated models, the 2020 C8 is a revelation as it’s the first Corvette to adopt a mid-engine design. This decision has been decades in the making and it’s the final realization of Zora Arkus-Duntov’s dream. Looking pretty much as expected, the 2020 Corvette has an aggressive front fascia with a triangular insert that is flanked by large air intakes. A small spoiler resides below, while there’s a stylish hood and slender headlights above. The sporty styling continues further back as the car has a rakish windscreen, aerodynamic side skirts and sculpted bodywork that channels air into two massive side scoops. Other notable features include a compact greenhouse, muscular rear fenders and a double bubble roof. Continuing to the rear, there’s a ventilated engine cover with a glass window that provides a glimpse of the new V8 engine. Above the window is a camera which sends video ...

2020 Cadillac CT5 Is A Compact (Priced) Sports Sedan The Size Of A BMW 5-Series

Image
Cadillac revealed a common ATS and CTS replacement, the CT5, last month ahead of its public debut at the 2019 New York International Auto Show, without going into much detail about the car. Now, GM’s premium brand has released a full specs sheet of the CT5, allowing us to have a better understanding of what it is. According to Caddy, the CT5 will be classified as a compact sedan, even though its mid-size saloon dimensions would have you think it’s positioned to take on the likes of the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and Mercedes E-Class. The 2020 CT5 measures 193.8 inches (4,924 mm) in length, 74.1 inches (1,883 mm) in width and 57.2 inches (1,452 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 116.0 inches (2,947 mm). Despite its Fastback styling, it’s almost as long as a BMW 5-Series, which measures 194.3 inches (4,936 mm) bumper to bumper. Meanwhile, the CT5’s wheelbase is actually longer than that of an Audi A6 (115.1 inches / 2,924 mm). Also, here’s how it compares to a 2019 CTS: 114.6 inch...

Geely Preface Concept Dresses Volvo Platform In A Stylish Suit

Image
Geely is giving us a look into the future with their new Preface concept. Billed as the brand’s “first high-end sporty sedan,” the Preface features an evolution of their Expanding Cosmos design language and previews several new vehicles that will be launched over the course of the next two years. Geely, which owns Volvo Cars since 2010, didn’t say much about the production models, but they will be upscale and “globally orientated.” Getting back to the concept itself, the Preface has a stylish front fascia with a prominent grille that is wider and taller than ever before. The grille also features vertical black slates which were added to give the appearance of a floating Geely logo. On either side of the grille are slender LED headlights and stylish air intakes. The model has also been equipped with a sculpted hood and streamlined bodywork. The clamshell doors are particularly interesting as they feature frameless windows and flush-mounted door handles. Other notable st...

Mid-Engine 2020 Corvette C8 Officially Teased, Debuts July 18th

Image
The wait is almost over as Chevrolet has confirmed the 2020 Corvette will be unveiled this summer. The company is keeping details under wraps, but said the 2020 C8 is the “sum of each generation before it, but will stand alone as the new standard of performance.” Chevrolet is staying coy on specifics, but we already know the model will be a radical departure from its predecessor as it will have a mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces around 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS). It will be connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. While the powertrain itself isn’t too revolutionary, the 2020 Corvette will adopt an all-new design as part of its switch to a mid-engine layout. The curved front fascia of the C7 will be replaced by a more aggressive setup that features an angular nose and muscular intakes. The sports car will also adopt a shorter hood as there’s no need for engine room up front. Bigger changes occur further back a...
