McLaren has taken the wraps off its most powerful, most aerodynamic convertible to date, the 765LT Spider. The highly limited “long tail” model will be made to order and will deliver enormous driver engagement, always according to the manufacturer. Power comes from McLaren’s familiar twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, with the new 765LT Spider making 754 hp (765 PS/562 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque (though that might be a conservative estimate). That’s enough to get it off the line and up to 60 mph (96.5 km/h) in just 2.7 seconds (0-100 km/h in 2.8). Thanks to the engine and a transmission that’s optimized for driver engagement, the 765LT Spider offers 15% faster in-gear acceleration than the 720S Spider, meaning it can hit 124 mph (200 km/h) in just 7.2 seconds. We all knew the Ferrari F8 Spider was coming and the Italian car manufacturer has just taken the covers of its latest mid-engined droptop. Powering the F8 Spider is the same twin-turbocharged 3.9-liter V8 engine as the F8 Tributo coupe to pump out a hearty 711 and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque. Ferrari says the F8 Spider accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds, hits 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.2 seconds, and continues through to a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h). The engine itself is very similar to the unit that powered the Ferrari 488 Pista, hence why it produces the same amount of grunt. McLaren chose the 2019 Geneva Motor Show to further expand its 720S Spider portfolio by adding this bespoke MSO-tuned model to the mix. What makes it entirely unique is its innovative Coriolis tri-tone color scheme, where each aero accent is comprised of three different MSO metallic paints: Cerulean Blue, Burton Blue (as seen on the 720S GT3), and Abyss Black. It took MSO more than 260 hours to complete the tri-tone paint elements. The 600LT Spider becomes McLaren’s fifth car to carry the Longtail name, boasting a 600 PS (592 HP) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, and a power-to-weight ratio of 463 PS (457 HP) per tonne. Following in the footsteps of the F1 GTR ‘Longtail’, 675LT Coupe and Spider, and most recently, the 600LT Coupe, will be a brand new track-focused McLaren. The Mclaren Super Series lineup is growing as the company has dropped the top on the all-new 720S Spider. Following in the footsteps of the coupe, the roadster features a familiar front fascia with distinctive headlights. Bigger changes occur aft of the A-pillar as the 720S Spider has a retractable hard top that consists of a single carbon fiber roof panel. McLaren says the hard top is the “fastest-operating convertible roof in the supercar class” as it can be raised or lowered in 11 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph (50 km/h). McLaren has announced the date for the new 720S Spider’s reveal, which will make its world debut online on December 8. The open-top version of the McLaren 720S will become the brand’s second new model under the company’s Track25 Business plan, following the reveal of the 250mph Speedtail last month.
