McLaren Reveals Matching Pair Of Unique MSO R Models

One very lucky customer will soon be taking delivery of two unique McLaren models, dubbed the MSO R Coupe and Spider.

Both models are getting a blueprinted 3.8-liter V8 producing 688 PS and featuring advanced aerodynamics with a twin-element rear wing. They also come with bespoke interiors and a unique exterior livery.

"An MSO Personal Commission is the highest level of partnership between a customer and McLaren Special Operations, undertaken to design, develop and create unique interpretations of McLaren cars, expertly tailored to meed the exact requirements of the owner," said company exec, Jolyon Nash.

"A typical MSO Personal Commission extends beyond paint colors and materials and finishes to encompass changes to body and interior design and also dynamic and powertrain enhancements as required. The result is a McLaren personalized by MSO to become a car that is literally one of a kind - or in case of these stunning MSO R cars, one of a matched pair."

Both models are finished in a striking Liquid Silver, featuring a carbon fiber central stripe. Also, the front bumper, bonnet, louvered fenders, roof scoop and rear deck are all MSO Visual Carbon Fiber (VCF) components, much like the side mirror arms and casings, as well as the wiper scuttle.

Other details include Delta Red pinstripes on the front splitter and side blades, while the splitter, side skirts, sill panels, rocker panels and plenum cover feature the MSO R branding. As for the wheels, they share the same 5-spoke design, although the ones on the Coupe are finished in Satin Black, while the Spider gets them in Gloss Black.

Even more distinctive than the exterior of these cars, is their interior, where both cabins boast Alcantara trim material throughout and red seats with black stitching, plus the MSO R logo embroidered in black on the headrests. The steering wheel has a carbon fiber upper and lower, with black Alcantara grips and a Delta Red center stripe.

Performance-wise, the M838TL twin-turbocharged V8 units deliver a maximum power of 688 PS (679 HP) and up to 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. There's also a titanium exhaust system with a 'crossover' muffler that increases pipe length and optimizes gas flow.
