2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Loses Weight, Gains Twin-Turbo V6 And New GR Sport Variant

Image
Toyota has unveiled the new 300 series Land Cruiser and says it had two development objectives for the new SUV. The first was to “inherit and evolve” its spirit of “reliability, durability, and off-road performance” while the second was to create a ride experience capable of tackling any type of road. But before you get too hyped about it, let us tell you that there are no current plans to offer the new 2022 Land Cruiser in the U.S., though they will probably get a similar Lexus LX version. Toyota says that it wanted to keep the vehicle’s body-on-frame structure because it “is the foundation that protects the Land Cruiser’s essence.” In order to pursue its mission of making the SUV capable of tackling any road without tiring the driver, though, it has adopted the new GA-F platform for the vehicle, which is based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). That has meant a lighter chassis that is also more rigid and a vehicle whose center of gravity has been moved closer to the ground...

Toyota Reveals Updated Land Cruiser Prado In Frankfurt

Image
Known in some markets as the Prado, the off-roader sold in Europe as the Land Cruiser has been on the market now since 2009. So Toyota evidently figured it was due for an update, and that's precisely what it has revealed this morning at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Though clearly based closely on the existing model, the smaller member of the Land Cruiser lineup has been revised inside, out, and under the hood to keep it relevant in the 190+ countries around the world where it's sold – and the ten or more European countries where it leads its segment in sales. Tweaks have been made to the frame-mounted sheetmetal, including a new hood, fenders, grille, headlamps, taillights, wheels, and front bumper. The changes aren't purely aesthetic, either: they were designed to help the driver locate the vehicle's extremities for maneuvering the large vehicle, while improving engine cooling, and adding an extra couple of inches to its overall length in the process. ...

Toyota C-HR Hy-Power Concept And New Land Cruiser Announced For Frankfurt

Image
Toyota will have several entirely new vehicles on display at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, which opens its gates for the international press on September 12. One of them is the C-HR Hy-Power Concept, a study developed by the brand's European Design Center, whose intention is "to emphasize C-HR's emotional and powerful look, while hinting at future expansion of Toyota's hybrid powertrain lineup within its core models". The automaker is already offering a hybrid version of the C-HR, which uses the same powertrain as the Prius. It combines a 1.8-liter petrol engine with an electric motor, which delivers 120 horses to the wheels through a CVT. In production since 2007, the current Toyota Land Cruiser is getting ready to be replaced by an entirely new generation. The company didn’t have much to say about it, so far, except that it will feature "a segment-unique body-on-frame construction", and it "will take you wherever you want to go, and brin...

This 2000HP Land Cruiser Joined 5 More Extreme Toyotas At SEMA

Image
Toyota almost broke the internet today, revealing no less than 30 vehicles for this year’s SEMA show, and these are six of the most extreme builds.  In the Japanese car maker’s own words, each project either honors the past, explores the present, or reveals the future, being one of the biggest exhibits in the event’s history. That said, here are the vehicles Toyota took out of their comfort zone with a plethora of modifications. The   Land Speed Cruiser   may look like a lowered, slightly  modified Land Cruiser , but it actually takes the notion of the big SUV and throws it in the bin. Unlike its road-going counterpart, this concept was built for pure speed – hence the name – which may explain its 2000 hp 3UR-FE 5.7-liter V8 under the hood. The obscene amount of power makes it top out at 220 mph (354 km/h), leaving most sports car in the dust. Bentayga who? The   XTREME Corolla   takes the core values of Toyota’s compact vehicle to the extreme. Using a...
