Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept Has AWD, Does 0-100km/h In 4.3

Peugeot has unveiled a model we never saw coming. Dubbed the Peugeot 508 Sport Engineered Concept, the vehicle will premiere at the Geneva Motor Show and provides a glimpse into the future of the marque’s electrified, performance-focused vehicles.

Peugeot Sport created the Engineered Concept by starting with the all-new 508 Hybrid and working its magic on the car’s design, performance, and efficiency.

Powering the concept is Peugeot PureTech 200 engine that’s paired with a 110 hp electric motor sending power to the front wheels. A second electric motor, this time with 200 hp, has then been installed and drives the rear wheels. Total torque sits at 500 Nm (368 lb-ft) and Peugeot says that the 508 Sport Engineered Concept can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds before hitting a mechanically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). The sedan also features an 11.8 kWh battery that allows for 31 miles (50 km) of all-electric operation.

To complement the bespoke powertrain, Peugeot has lowered the suspension and widened the front track by 24 mm and the rear track by 12 mm. The steering system has also been improved and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are fitted.

In addition, Peugeot has altered the car’s appearance with a new front bumper which incorporates a 3D-printed valance to direct air into the radiator and towards the rear diffuser. Other modifications include small winglets on the quarter panels and flaps fitted to the subframes to reduce aerodynamic drag. The concept is painted in ‘Selenium Grey’.

Peugeot has also gone to town with the 508 Sport Engineered Concept’s interior. There’s new ‘comfort fit’ seats with leather and Alcantara upholstery, a plush steering wheel with Alcantara and carbon fiber, and a trio of Peugeot Sport Engineered lines across the bottom of the steering wheel. The roof, A-pillars and quarter panels are also bathed in Alcantara and ‘Kryptonite’ finishing is found around the door handles and dashboard.

“The work of everyone at Peugeot involved in developing our electric dream is starting to move faster than we ever thought possible. The 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered concept shows what is possible and gives us a taste of things to come over the next five years as we continue the path towards the electrification of our entire line-up,” managing director of Peugeot UK David Peel said.

The French automaker hasn’t said if the 508 Sport Engineered will make it to the production line.
