Alfa Romeo Official Confirms “Something New” For Geneva

In the wake of a rumor claiming that Alfa Romeo will unveil a compact SUV at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, we got in touch with the brand’s U.S. representative Berj Alexanian, who gave us an insight of what to expect.

“Here’s what I can say at this time: Alfa Romeo will be at the Geneva Motor Show in full force, with our award-winning lineup and something new up our sleeves as well. We’re excited to show everyone a taste of what’s next in the world of Italian performance and luxury. Stay tuned on March 5 to see a glimpse into the next chapter of Alfa Romeo’s legendary story.”

As revealed in their 2018-2022 product roadmap last summer, the Italian company will also breathe new life into the Giulia and Stelvio in the immediate future. The SUV has been in production since 2016 and the premium compact sedan is already four years old. The facelifted iterations will be joined by long wheelbase versions aimed at the Chinese market.

The new generation Giulietta will continue to challenge the likes of the five-door Mercedes-Benz A-Class & co., getting a new plug-in hybrid powertrain among others, whereas the SUV thirst will be quenched by two new models. One of them is the aforementioned Volvo XC40, Jaguar E-Pace and BMW X1 rival, and the other will enter the mid-size luxury segment as an alternative to the Audi Q7. The GTV and 8C will also make a comeback in the next 3 years.
