Facelifted 2018 Hyundai Sonata Previewed By Design Sketches

Image
Hyundai may have updated the Sonata for the 2017MY, but a facelifted version is coming to replace the 3-year old car. Previewed by a handful of design sketches that were posted on one of the brand's social media channels, it will get the brand's new 'cascading' grille and reshaped LED DRLs, just like the new i30, alongside a cleaner-looking and sportier rear end with LED taillight inserts. Citing sources within the company, HyundaiBlog states that the tweaked Sonata will come in two trim levels: the standard one and the sportier turbo. Details surrounding the latter have yet to be announced, but the Koreans could either boost or replace the current unit with a newer one producing more than the current 2.0-liter turbo's 245 hp. The facelifted Hyundai Sonata could be introduced in South Korea as early as next month, followed by a New York Auto Show debut in April. Carscoops

New-Gen Buick Enclave Coming To NY Auto Show

Image
Previewed by a concept car in 2006 and presented in final production form the year after, the current generation Buick Enclave is now facing the axe. However, since there is an increased demand for crossovers and SUVs, the GM-owned brand already has a successor in the pipeline, which, according to AutoNews, will arrive in the very near future. Set to debut this spring at the 2017 New York Auto Show, and to go on sale around mid-year, the all-new Buick Enclave will adopt the company's new design language that was first seen on the Avenir study, with a similarly shaped grille and lighting units, on both sides, and a cleaner-looking body. Details surrounding its cabin are scarce for now, but we should expect a new layout, alongside some fresh technology and a bundle of driver assist features. The 2018 Buick Enclave will probably share the same architecture with the 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, namely the C1XX platform, and while the automaker is keeping all these details a secr...

Peugeot Instinct Concept Is Beautiful And Smart

Image
Shortly after a single image of it leaked online, the Peugeot Instinct Concept has bowed before its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 next month. The concept debuts a selection of intelligent new technologies aimed at making the driving experience more connected than ever before. Additionally, it makes use of a plug-in hybrid powertrain delivering 300 PS (295 hp). One of the stand out features of the Instinct Concept is the so-called ‘Internet of Things’ platform. This system works in conjunction with Samsung Artik Cloud and syncs with the user’s various devices so the car can learn about the lifestyle of the driver and preconfigure its settings to suit the user’s needs. This can include altering the driving mode, ambient lighting, audio as well as the seat and interface settings. Additionally, the Peugeot Instinct Concept has the ability to alter its behavior depending on what the driver may want. For example, it can read the data from a smartwatch after the driver h...

2018 Volvo XC60 Teased Again and Again

Image
With each passing day, the new posh SUV is revealing more and more of its design. In the latest round of teasers, Volvo is showing off the XC60’s taillight design in detail to reveal a more modern look compared to the outgoing model’s clusters. We can easily observe that unlike on the bigger XC90, the LED strip extends onto the trunk lid as a way to make the new SUV seem wider when viewed from behind. Another teaser image released by the Geely-owned marque allows us to have a better look at the front grille, albeit the render has been thoroughly tweaked to make the front fascia prettier. The third and last teaser shows a significant section of the SUV’s front, including the elegant headlights with the “Thor’s Hammer” LED daytime running lights as seen on the bigger cars from the “90” series. An array of Drive-E four-cylinder engines will power the new SPA-based XC60. As standard, the premium SUV will come in a front-wheel-drive flavor, with more expensive models to be blessed ...

Sony Xperia XZ Premium and XZs unveiled

Image
Meet the future of Sony flagships - well, what will be future. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium and its 5.5” 4K are scheduled to land in “late Spring” while the smaller 5.2” Sony Xperia XZs will arrive earlier (in April) to dazzle us with its cool new camera, which Sony will be marketing as Motion Eye. Sony Xperia XZ Premium: That’s what Sony calls the camera used on both the XZ Premium and XZs. Its crowning achievement is 960fps slow motion video - that allows to slow down time 4x slower than current cameraphones. It also features an “anti-distortion shutter” which minimizes rolling shutter. Both features are enabled by Sony’s unique memory-stacked sensor. The slow-mo video is captured at 720p, though, not 1080p. But hold on, the Xperia XZ Premium will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset (we guess that’s the reason behind the delayed launch). The chipset is hooked up to 4GB of RAM and will run Android 7.0, naturally. 4K screens are back, this time around with a much-improv...

Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra go official with thin bezels, great cameras

Image
Sony revamped both the bezel-light 5” mid-ranger and the selfie-holic 6” Ultra model under the new XA1 heading. Seriously, though, the cameras on these two phones punch well above their weight category. Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra: We remember the previous Ultra as being only the second phone with an OIS-enabled selfie camera (behind the HTC 10 flagship). The Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra continues that proud tradition with an impressive 16MP 1/2.6” sensor coupled with a 23mm (equiv.) f/2.0 lens with autofocus and a dedicated LED flash. Again, that’s the selfie camera even though those are main camera specs. The main camera itself is no slouch either - 23MP 1/2.3” sensor, 24mm (equiv.) f/2.0 lens and SteadyShot (no OIS here, though). The other thing we remember about the previous model was its size. The XA1 Ultra brings back the substantial 6” screen with 1080p resolution. The company managed to make the phone lighter, and it weighs less than the XZ Premium, cool! Sony upgrade...

Samsung Galaxy S8 to be unveiled on March 29th

Image
A Samsung Galaxy smartphone used to headline the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona for years but after the Galaxy Note7 fiasco last fall the company decided to postpone production and unveiling of its newest flagship. But after the Samsung keynote on Sunday night, we finally know when the Galaxy S8 will be revealed - March 29. The Galaxy Unpacked event will be available live on Samsung Galaxy’s website. Samsung presented the Galaxy Tab S3, an Android tablet and Galaxy Book with 10.6” display and a bigger one with 12” diagonal, the latter running Windows 10 and coming with a keyboard and an S Pen out of the box. After the event was over, David Lewis, Samsung Europe CMO presented the Galaxy Unpacked event with a short video, confirming the date is indeed March 29, as various leaks suggested. The event will begin at 11:00 EDT/17:00 CET. GSMArena

The Nokia 3310 is back!

Image
Just like the rumor-vine predicted, HMD didn't skip on the opportunity to ride the nostalgia wave and reincarnate the legendary Nokia 3310 for a second go on the 2017 mobile scene. We are sure opinions will be polarized on the EUR 49 feature-phone, but that definitely fits into the whole idea. Whether you find it unsightly, or enjoy its colorful and playful looks, the new 3310 will definitely get fans talking, even if not necessarily buying. Again, as far as design goes, you will just have to judge for yourself. The new 3310 measure only 115.6 x 51 x 12.8 mm and is plastic all around. HMD claims it did the best it can to recreate the original 3310 rounded shape and silhouette. The rounded buttons on the retro keypad definitely hit home. However, the 2.4-inch QVGA display and the curved and polarized layer on top, do look a bit off. So do the buttons on the front. Still, we have to say the four available color options: Warm Red (Glossy), Dark Blue (Matte), Yellow (Glossy), Gr...

Nokia 5 and 3 go official, special edition Nokia 6 Arte Black joins them

Image
And they’re back! Nokia phones are going global after the initial trial run of the Nokia 6 in China. Also announced today are the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3, both finely-crafted phones running pure Android. All three will come out in Q2 in single and dual-SIM forms. Nokia 6: There’s almost nothing new here other than the price - the Nokia 6 will cost €230 and will launch in Q2 this year. In fact, all three phones will come out in Q2. But there was a surprise - the special edition Nokia 6 Arte Black (remember the Artes?). It’s distinguished by a piano black finish and extra memory. And when we say “extra memory” we mean as much as you would expect - 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, same as the Chinese model. The non-Arte models drop down to 3GB and 32GB, something to keep in mind when choosing a color. Anyway, the Nokia 6 Arte Black will retail for €300. Nokia 5: A bit lower on the size and price chart is the Nokia 5, which will launch at €190. Cast in a seamless aluminum uni...

LG G6 is official with FullVision 18:9 display, Snapdragon 821 chipset

Image
The smartphone star of MWC 2017 has been announced - this is the LG G6. A 'Full-vision' display, water and dust protection plus some careful impact resistant design, cameras aplenty, tried and tested internals - the G6 may no longer be the flagship (the V-series will fly that banner from now on), but it sure sounds like flagships should be wary. A lot of the G6's novelty stems from its display - a 5.7-inch IPS LCD panel that takes up most of the phone's front - it's why LG calls it FullVision. The screen has an odd 18:9 aspect ratio (or, as math would have it - 2:1) and a resolution of 2,880x1,440px for a pixel density of 565ppi. Consumers want a larger display, yet aren't willing to give up single-hand use - the 2:1 ratio gives the best of both worlds. The rounded corners aren't just for appearances either - such an LCD panel is more durable to drops. Speaking of durability, the back is made of Gorilla Glass 5, while it's GG3 on top of the displa...
