Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool will sack me like Claudio Ranieri if I don’t deliver trophies
Jurgen Klopp believes Claudio Ranieri’s sacking is a sign of the times in football and that his own position at Liverpool could soon come under threat.
While the former Borussia Dortmund coach has never been sacked in his career, he’s under no illusions that his job is as under threat as anyone’s in the Premier League.
Liverpool take on Leicester, who will be lead out on Monday night by Craig Shakespeare, and Klopp is aware of how managerial positions in the Premier League are largely determined by short-term success.
And he feels he needs to win something at Anfield to keep his job.
‘Nobody needs to remind any of the managers in world football about the business,’ he said ahead of the match.
‘And if we cannot win anything or even come close to big things over the next few years then it will be difficult to go for it.
‘Until now I didn’t understand it as I’ve always been on a long contract, as long as I wanted, and I have no idea why exactly it happened to me.
‘Liverpool as a club wants to have a strong relationship with its manager but as always it depends on success.
