Lamborghini Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo Concept Previews Game’s Virtual Racer

Image
Lamborghini has delved deeper into the world of Gran Turismo Sport with the new Lambo V12 Vision Gran Turismo Concept. Unveiled in real-life form in Monte Carlo, ahead of the 2019 FIA Certified Gran Turismo Championships World Finals, it was created by the automaker’s Centro Stile and will launch in the popular video game next spring. “Lamborghini is a very young brand, and this is why we are here today, to present our newest vision in the form of a real model, with a highly futuristic and cool design to be enjoyed by the young generation of racing game and super sports car enthusiasts”, said CEO Stefano Domenicali. Retaining the Italian automaker’s DNA, the show car boasts advanced aerodynamics that have defined the sharp creases, along with the large rear wing, Y-shaped lights at both ends and side windows inspired by the 1967 Marzal concept. The front wings are disconnected from the body and the driver has to enter and exit the car from the front, much in the same way as...

Tesla Cybertruck Is A Pickup From The Future Now; 0-60 In 2.9s, From $39,900

Image
Elon Musk unveiled Tesla’s hotly anticipated Cybertruck all-electric pickup on Thursday night in California. This may sound odd, but when we first saw the wedge-shaped truck that has the presence of an autocratic government’s police vehicle from a 1990s dystopian future film, we thought he might be kidding, waiting to pull a switcheroo on us. Turns out, he wasn’t. As with the Palto Alto company’s other endeavors, Tesla wants to disrupt the heavily contested, yet hugely lucrative, especially in the United States, pickup truck segment. Seven years in the making, the Cybertruck, or CYBRTRK, as some at Tesla like calling it, is a futuristic looking, albeit unpolished, wedge-shaped full size pickup truck. At 231.7 inches (5,885mm) long, 79.8 inches (2,027mm) wide and 75.0 inches (1,905mm) tall, with seating for six, it sits nicely between the numerous offerings from Ford’s F-150, which depending on the body, measure 209 to 250 inches long, 80 to 86 inches wide and 75 to 78.5 inche...

2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 Debuts As The Ultimate S-Class Of SUVs

Image
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS has been a long time coming, but now it’s finally here – except it debuts at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China instead of the ongoing LA Auto Show. Marking the first time the Maybach emblem is put on a production model that’s not an S-Class, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC represents Stuttgart’s pinnacle in luxury SUVs. As such, it is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 550 HP (558 PS) at 6,000 – 6,500 rpm and 538 lb-ft (730 Nm) of torque at 2,500 – 5,000 rpm. This engine variant was developed exclusively for Maybach and is combined with the 48-volt system EQ Boost, which adds 22 HP (16 kW) of power and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of instant torque. The powertrain enables the 2.78-tonne (6,140-lbs) Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.9 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). For those interested in trivial details like fuel economy, the top-dog GLS’s combined fuel consump...

2021 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 Is Your Glorious 603 HP Luxury 7-Seater SUV

Image
If you feel as though neither the 2020 Mercedes GLS 450 nor the 580 version is quick enough, then the brand new Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ variant might just be what you’re looking for, thanks to its 603 HP (612 PS) twin-turbo V8 engine. This flagship spec also comes with a 22 HP EQ Boost unit, providing assistance at low engine speeds. Other major features include the variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, 9-speed gearbox and AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL air suspension. As for performance, the previously-mentioned EQ Boost starter-alternator adds 22 HP and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque to the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine’s 603 HP (612 PS) and up to 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. This means that the 2020 GLS 63 4MATIC+ can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) – although the optional AMG Driver’s package unleashes you all the way to 280 km/h (174 mph). Compared to the previous-generation GLS 63, this new one...

New Audi RS Q8 Is A Ballistic SUV With 591 HP And Mild-Hybrid Tech

Image
The new Audi RS Q8 has arrived at the Los Angeles Auto Show as the brand’s most powerful SUV and brings with it a host of eye-popping figures and an equally-as-evocative design. Sitting atop Audi’s Q family of SUVs, the RS Q8 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 pumping out 591 HP (441kW / 600 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque between 2,200 rpm and 4,500 rpm. Audi quotes a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of just 3.8 seconds while the sprint to 200 km/h (124.3 mph) is dealt with in 13.7 seconds. The RS Q8 will continue to accelerate through to a 250 km/h (155 mph) electronically limited top speed, but should customers opt for the Dynamic package, that figure rises to 305 km/h (190 mph). Like the engine used by the latest Audi RS6 Avant, the RS Q8’s powertrain is based on a 48-volt main electrical system and is therefore a mild-hybrid. During deceleration and braking, the powertrain can recover up to 12 kW of power and store it in its compact lithium-ion battery. Should t...

Hyundai Vision T Is What We’d Really Like The Next Tucson To Look Like

Image
Hyundai is looking to the future with its Vision T SUV Concept unveiled at the 2019 LA Auto Show. It is a plug-in hybrid compact crossover that’s meant to express the Korean brand’s Sensuous Sportiness global design language while also looking to balance its eco-lifestyle focus with the environment in which it is driven. While Hyundai hasn’t specified any interior or powertrain characteristics, other than it is a plug-in hybrid, its styling obviously reflects everything we’ve seen from previously-spied 2021 Hyundai Tucson prototypes, from the front fascia to certain angles and creases found on the bodywork. We don’t need to tell you that the production Tucson will be a lot less visually aggressive. It measures 181.5 inches (4,610 mm) in length, 79.3 inches (1,938 mm) in width, stands 67.1 inches (1,704 mm) tall, and has a 110.4 inches (2,804 mm) long wheelbase. “We pursue innovative solutions in design and add emotional value to our product experience through sensuous ...

A New Chevrolet Trailblazer Is Here For 2021, But It’s Nothing Like You Remembered

Image
Chevrolet has unveiled the 2021 Trailblazer at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Previewed earlier this year, the Trailblazer is a radical departure from its predecessor as it’s a small five-passenger crossover that slots in between the Trax and Equinox. On the styling front, the model follows in the footsteps of the Blazer and features a prominent dual-port grille that is flanked by quad lighting units. Further below, there’s a faux skidplate and plastic body cladding that wraps around the vehicle. Aft of the A-pillar, there’s chiseled bodywork and pronounced rear fenders.  Designers also installed a relatively flat roof and a distinctive C-pillar. Unfortunately, the rear end is a tad plain as it has a blocky tailgate and wraparound taillights. Despite being called the Trailblazer, the model is a soft-roader.  However, buyers can make it look more capable by ordering the ACTIV trim package.  It includes rugged fascias, a unique grille and a trapezoidal dual exh...

The 2020 Aston Martin DBX Is A Stunning Utility Vehicle With 542 HP

Image
After months of development and teasing, the long-awaited 2020 Aston Martin DBX has landed with the official images showing the luxury performance crossover in full. Back in September, Aston Martin confirmed what engine would power its SUV. This engine takes the shape of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter AMG V8 delivering 542 hp and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque and is the same basic unit as used by the Vantage and DB11 V8. It does have more grunt than either of those two models, however. The sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) is dealt with in 4.5 seconds and the SUV will continue through to a 181 mph (291 km/h) top speed. Paired to the engine is a nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission working with an all-wheel drive system with active differentials including an active central differential and a rear limited-slip differential that shuffles torque between the wheels. As these official photos show, the DBX is quite a sleek looking thing. Up front, it is clearly identifiable as one ...

The New 2021 Lexus LC500 Convertible Revealed

Image
Lexus is expanding its LC 500 sports car family with a soft-top convertible that will be celebrating its world premiere at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show on Wednesday. Set to go on sale next summer, the model closely echoes the coupe but adopts a four-layer soft top that has been designed to recreate the flowing roofline of the coupe.  It can be opened or closed in approximately 15-16 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph (50 km/h). The top will be offered in black and beige, and be paired with a stylish body in one of ten colors.  Speaking of the latter, the convertible features a unique rear end with a new tonneau cover and a modified trunk with an integrated third brake light. Since owners will drive their cars in a variety of conditions, the LC 500 has been equipped with an advanced heating and cooling system.  Dubbed Lexus Climate Concierge with Upper Body Heating, the system automatically adjusts the climate control system, seat heaters, neck heaters and heated...

Watch Out Tesla, Karma SC2 Concept Has 1,100 HP, 10,500 Lb-ft * And 1.9-Sec 0-60 Time

Image
Karma has arrived at the 2019 LA Auto Show with a brand new electric concept car dubbed the SC2. It is said to feature cutting-edge technology and a look that’s meant to preview the automaker’s future design direction. Its front and rear mounted twin electric motors produce 1,100 HP and 10,500 lb-ft (14,000 Nm) of wheel torque. Yes, we know that torque figure is crazy, so carscoops contacted Karma and got confirmation that it is, indeed, correct. It’s worth noting, though, that wheel torque (*) is influenced by gearing, so you multiply the engine torque by gear ratio and final drive to get that number. At the same time, the SC2 provides a range of 350 miles (563 km) on a single charge and can accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 1.9 seconds. “Karma’s SC2 is a signpost to our future as a technology-driven brand. More than that, it previews our future design language, and is a thought-provoking expression of Karma’s future Intellectual Property and product offerings,” state...

2020 MINI JCW GP Gives A New Meaning To Pocket Rocket With 301 HP

Image
MINI will be visiting the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show to pull the covers off the John Cooper Works (JCW) GP, the brand’s fastest street-legal car ever and the most powerful in the subcompact hatchback class. Packing a 301 horsepower (306 PS / 225 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque, 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four, it has the ability to make your neck stiff in a fraction of a second. Nought to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) is dealt with in 5.2 seconds and the ungoverned top speed is 165 mph (265 km/h). Power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed Steptronic transmission with integrated differential lock. Peel away the bad-boy body kit and you will see lots of similarities to the regular Cooper S JCW. Nonetheless, the added parts contribute to the theatrical presence of the car and include CFRP fender flares that extend to the front and rear bumpers, as well as a huge roof-mounted wing, restyled diffuser that incorporates the central-mounted exhaust pipes, GP badging on the grille an...
