Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro arrive with 108MP camera, Snapdragon 865

Image
The Xiaomi Mi 10 and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro are finally official with four cameras apiece and Snapdragon 865. Both phones support wireless charging and are the first Mi branded devices with a punch hole in the display for the selfie camera. Their headline feature is on the back though - the 108MP sensor as first seen on the Mi Note 10. They also come will great connectivity support - going all the way to SA and NSA 5G and Wi-Fi 6. The more impressive of two is definitely the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. It comes with a 6.67” AMOLED FullHD+ screen with curved edges. The panel supports 90Hz refresh rate and 180 Hz touch sampling rate. The company is really proud of its display which can reach up to 1200nit peak brightness, can have 4096 levels of brightness adjustment and DC dimming. The biggest talking point of the Mi 10 Pro is the camera - the 108MP sensor has an 8P lens (that's one more than even the Mi Note 10 Pro) and is flanked by three other impressive cameras - a long telepho...

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip announced with UTG screen and Snapdragon 855+

Image
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip almost stole the spotlight from the Galaxy S20-series as it's the second phone with a proper foldable display for the company. This time around, however, the handset employs a largely different spin on the foldable formula - unlike the Galaxy Fold which unfolded to a tablet-sized screen the Z Flip is a regular-sized phone that folds to a tiny size. It's built around a super tall 22:9 6.7" Dynamic AMOLED. Excitingly, unlike all foldable screen phones so far, it employs Ultra Thin Glass layer on top, so it should be far more resistant to scratches. The resolution is 1080 x 2636px, which add up to just over 50% more pixels than its closest rival - the Motorola Razr. The Galaxy Z Flip also has a 1.1" secondary Super AMOLED positioned on the back of its cover so you can see your notification at a glance. It sits below a sheet of Gorilla Glass 6 along with the rest of the phone's outer body. Inside you have last year's Snapdrag...

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 108MP main camera and a 48MP periscope zoom camera

Image
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is the first in a new class of Samsung flagships, more premium than even the “Plus” phone of the S20 family. The camera department shares almost no hardware with the S20 and S20+, bringing several firsts for the Galaxy lineup and the industry in general. The main camera features a large 108MP sensor. Using 9-in-1 pixel binning, the camera can capture 12MP photos with the equivalent of 2.4µm pixels, which promises to set a new benchmark for low-light photography. This camera has optical image stabilization (OIS) and an f/1.8 aperture. The phone can record 8K video, which you can upload to YouTube and share with those few who own an 8K TV. With Super Steady 2.0 that promises dolly-like stability, Samsung promises “professional-level filming”. The telephoto camera uses Samsung’s first periscope lens. It’s built around a very large 48MP sensor, which supports 4-in-1 pixel binning for 12MP shots. Samsung says this camera delivers 10x hybrid optical z...

Samsung Galaxy S20 and S20+ come with 120Hz screens, 8K-capable 64MP camera

Image
The Galaxy S20 and S20+ build on the successful formula of the S10 generation with notable improvements to the screen, battery and especially the camera. Note that the camera on the S20 Ultra is a whole different beast and that phone is covered in another article. The Samsung Galaxy S20+ has Dynamic AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, a first for Samsung, and features increased touch responsiveness (240Hz touch sensing). The 6.7” panel has 1440p+ resolution with a taller aspect ratio than before, 20:9. What this means is that the phone is the same width as the S10+, but slightly taller. The main camera on the back has a new 12MP sensor with large 1.8µm pixels (compared to 1.4µm for the S10 phones). It has an f/1.8 aperture and features optical image stabilization (OIS). The telephoto camera boasts the highest resolution sensor on a zoom camera yet – 64MP. Samsung advertises 3x hybrid zoom and up to 30x “Super Resolution Zoom”. This module also has OIS and a bright (for a...

2020 Ford GT Gets Power Boost, Stunning Liquid Carbon Edition And More

Image
In a rather surprising move, Ford has given the 2020 GT several technical and visual enhancements. We’ll start with the revised oily bits, which were inspired by the Ford GT Mk2 racer and include updated engine calibration, gallery-cooled pistons, higher-energy ignition coils and broader torque band. The result is an additional 13 horsepower added to the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which lifts the output to 660 hp. That’s not all, because the revised GT also gets a larger intercooler and updates to the buttress air ducts that increase the air flow by 50 percent. The suspension has been updated as well in ‘Track’ mode to improve handling and body control. Furthermore, the Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, which was a $10,000 option, is now offered as standard. That’s great news not only from a soundtrack standpoint, but also because it provides a weight saving of 9 lbs (4 kg). One of the most striking additions to the 2020 GT lineup is the Liquid Carbon Edition, bringing ...

2021 Cadillac Escalade Embraces Luxury And Tech To Distance Itself From Tahoe And Yukon

Image
If one model defines a brand, you’d be hard pressed to find a more fitting example than Cadillac and the Escalade. Introduced over 20 years ago, the Escalade went from a rebadged GMC Yukon Denali to an American status symbol embraced by everyone from rappers to business executives. However, the SUV has lost some of its luster as other luxury brands have slowly entered the segment. Cadillac is now fighting back with an all-new Escalade that is far more luxurious and differentiated than its predecessor. That being said, the redesigned model also benefits from the improvements made to the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. The Escalade is known for its somewhat brash appearance, but the fifth-generation model tones things down as it features an all-new design that follows in the footsteps of the XT6. As a result, the SUV has an upright grille which is flanked by horizontal headlights. The latter are joined by vertical LED daytime running lights which are a hallmark of the bra...
