Genesis To Debut All-New Concept In New York, Watch It Here On 12th April
For a second year in a row, the Hyundai Group’s luxury brand Genesis will bring a brand new concept for its world premiere at the New York Auto Show.
The recently established Genesis marque is holding the name and type of car it will present in the Big Apple on Wednesday, April 12, close to its chest, but we do know that their 2017-2020 roadmap includes the debut of two SUVs, a sports coupe and a compact sports sedan. That’s in addition to the existing G90 large and G80 mid-size sedans.
Being that Genesis has already teased the compact sports saloon that’s rumored to bear the G70 moniker at last year’s New York Auto Show, they could either show something closer to production and size or a new crossover study this week. Another rumor that could come into fruition is an “N” high performance model
Born at the end of 2015 out of Hyundai’s need to expand their range to more profitable premium segments with a new brand after testing the waters with the Hyundai Genesis sedan and larger Equus, Genesis will require SUVs to cement itself in the market. Last year, it sold only 87,130 cars worldwide, with 66,029 or 76% of its total production allocated to South Korea, according to Autonews. The first two months of 2017 haven’t been better, with global sales reaching just 10,938 units.
Besides adding new models to its range, Genesis will continue its global rollout with the Korean automaker eyeing the world’s largest premium market, China. Genesis boss Manfred Fitzgerald told the news publication that the brand should enter China around 2019.
