2020 Audi Q3 Sportback Shows There’s No End To The Crossover Coupe Craze

Image
Audi was late to the crossover coupe game, but they’re making up for lost time by introducing the 2020 Q3 Sportback. Based on the standard Q3, the Sportback features a sportier appearance as it adopts a black Singleframe grille and trapezoidal air intakes. The crossover also has a sculpted hood and optional Matrix LED headlights. The sporty styling continues further back as the designers gave the model chiseled bodywork which is contrasted by flowing lines above the wheel arches. Of course, the biggest changes are the sloping roofline and upward sweeping beltline. This helps to give the model a more dynamic appearance and Audi says it helps to make the crossover look longer than the standard Q3. Other notable styling features include plastic body cladding, a rakish rear window and a stylish rear bumper with an integrated diffuser. There’s also a tailgate-mounted spoiler, a hidden exhaust and wraparound taillights. The cabin largely carries over from the Q3 and drivers ...

2020 Corvette C8 Is America’s Mid-Engine Sports Car For The Masses

Image
Chevrolet has officially unveiled the 2020 Corvette Stingray. One of this year’s most highly anticipated models, the 2020 C8 is a revelation as it’s the first Corvette to adopt a mid-engine design. This decision has been decades in the making and it’s the final realization of Zora Arkus-Duntov’s dream. Looking pretty much as expected, the 2020 Corvette has an aggressive front fascia with a triangular insert that is flanked by large air intakes. A small spoiler resides below, while there’s a stylish hood and slender headlights above. The sporty styling continues further back as the car has a rakish windscreen, aerodynamic side skirts and sculpted bodywork that channels air into two massive side scoops. Other notable features include a compact greenhouse, muscular rear fenders and a double bubble roof. Continuing to the rear, there’s a ventilated engine cover with a glass window that provides a glimpse of the new V8 engine. Above the window is a camera which sends video ...

Lotus Evija Debuts With 1,973 HP, Will Become World’s Most Powerful Road Car

Image
Following a teaser earlier this month, Lotus has officially unveiled the new Evija. Set to become the world’s “most powerful series production road car,” the Evija has four electric motors which are targeted to produce a combined output of 1,973 hp (1471 kW / 2,000 PS) and 1,254 lb-ft (1,700 Nm) of torque.  Lotus says this should enable the hypercar to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than three seconds.  Given enough room, the model will be able to hit a top speed in excess of 200 mph (320 km/h). The electric motors are powered by a mid-mounted lithium-ion battery pack which should allow the car to travel up to 250 miles (400 km) on a single charge.  When it’s depleted, owners will be happy to know the model has the “world’s fastest charging battery.”  It can accept an 800 kW charge, even though charging units with that capability aren’t commercially available yet.  However when they are, the Evija can be fully recharged in just nine minu...

Hennessey Gives Chevy Silverado Extra Pair Of Wheels, Calls It The Goliath 6×6

Image
After turning the Ford Raptor into a six-wheeler, Hennessey Performance decided to do the same for the 2019/2020 Chevrolet Silverado. The result is this, the aptly named Goliath 6×6. The very first example of the new Hennessey truck, which was first previewed back in 2018, is based on the Trail Boss Z71 and comes with a complete 6×6 conversion featuring an all-new rear suspension system along with an extra axle. In addition, the whole truck gets an eight-inch suspension lift kit, a set of 20-inch Hennessey wheels wrapped in 37-inch BFG off-road tires, new bumpers, a roll bar, LED auxiliary lights and a custom, longer bed. Like all Hennessey’s products, it also comes with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty. “We are very excited to offer our new Goliath 6×6 alongside our Velociraptor 6×6 truck,” said company founder and CEO, John Hennessey.“These are very exclusive and unique vehicles that make a huge statement anywhere our clients go – whether its Rodeo drive or the sand dune...

Bentley Looks Into The Future With The Electric EXP 100 GT Concept

Image
Bentley has finally revealed the EXP 100 GT concept, a fully electric luxury gran turismo designed to show what the company’s models might look like in the year 2035. The new EXP 100 GT also marks the company’s centenary to the day, featuring a fully electric powertrain with four electric motors, a torque vectoring system and a combined output of up to 1,340hp and 1,100lb-ft (1,491Nm) of torque. Bentley claims that the EXP 100 GT is capable of a 0-60mph in less than 2.5 seconds and of a top speed of 186mph (300km/h). With future battery technology expected to offer five times the current energy density, it’s no wonder that the EXP 100 GT is said to be capable of charging to 80 percent of capacity in only 15 minutes. Driving range is set at 435 miles (700km) on a full charge while weight is kept at 1,900kg (4,188lbs), which is mighty impressive for a car of this size. Speaking of which, the design study measures 5.8 meters long and almost 2.4 meters wide (19.02 and 7.87...

MINI Cooper SE Breaks Cover With 181 HP Electric Motor, Up To 167 Miles Of Range

Image
MINI has just launched its first-ever fully electric, zero emissions model in the Cooper SE, a car that features a 135 kW (184 PS / 181 HP) motor, front wheel drive and a lithium-ion battery that offers a range of 235 to 270 km (146 to 167 miles). Since the battery is positioned deep within the vehicle floor, the car comes with no limitations in terms of luggage space, remaining just as practical as any regular MINI 3-door model. The MINI Cooper SE is of course, instantly recognizable as a MINI 3-door. However, there are also precisely applied accents that indicate its emissions-free drive system. So aside from the charger port (located above the right-hand rear wheel), there’s also an embossed MINI Electric logo, while yellow versions of this signet can be found on the lateral turn indicator inserts, as well as on the tailgate and front grille, which features a hexagonal contour. Further styling features include the yellow decorative bar on the front fascia, more yellow on...

Aston Martin Reveals Final Design Of The New DBS GT Zagato

Image
Aston Martin has revealed the exterior design of the upcoming DBS GT Zagato in a series of official renders. Based on the DBS Superleggera, the company’s latest limited-edition supercar showcases the latest evolution in the Aston Martin Zagato design language. How limited you ask? Well, in order to get your hands on one of the DBS GT Zagatos, you’ll have to also get a DB4 GT Zagato Continuation. The £6 million ($7.48 million) pair forms what Aston calls the DBZ Centenary Collection, with only 19 examples of each set to be made. One of the biggest visual highlights of the new Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato can be found in its traditionally massive grille; this is actually an active item, meaning that each of the 108-individual diamond-shaped carbon fibre pieces remain flush with the bodywork when the supercar is parked and then open upon start-up to enable the twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 to breathe. “This is a car that is not only focused around beauty, but drama too,” said Marek...

Porsche Unveils New 911 RSR GTE With 4.2-Liter Flat-Six

Image
Porsche has taken off the covers to the all-new 911 RSR GTE racer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The new Porsche 911 RSR GTE will compete in the 2019-2020 FIA World Endurance Championship set to kick off at Silverstone on September 1st and will then become available to customer teams for the 2020-2021 season. It may look similar to the outgoing RSR GTE, but 95 per cent of its parts are brand new. The most significant change is the fitment of a bespoke 4.2-liter naturally aspirated flat-six that pumps out 507 HP. This is the largest capacity engine fitted to a 911 racer ever and replaces the outgoing 4.0-liter unit. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential transmission with a three-disc carbon race clutch. The new RSR even features side-exiting exhausts, which allowed for the design of a more effective rear diffuser, thus generating greater downforce. Like its predecessor, the new RSR GTE features an aluminum-steel composite body shell and carbon fiber...

Extreme E To Launch Electric Off-Road Championship With Odyssey 21 Racer

Image
Extreme E has arrived as the off-road equivalent of the Formula E World Championship, and the Odyssey 21 is the racer that will compete in the inaugural season. The new series is the brainchild of Formula E boss Alejandro Agag. The company premiered its race car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend and released a number of juicy details about it. Perhaps the first thing you’ll notice about the Odyssey 21 is its size. It is 14.4 feet long, 6.2-feet tall, and 7.5-feet wide and tips the scales at 3,600 lbs (1,632 kg), making it roughly as heavy as two Formula E cars. Work is still being done to finalize the championship details as well as the vehicle’s specs. The Odyssey 21 brought to Goodwood is only a show car built by Spark Racing Technologies. All teams competing in the racing series will use a common chassis and a battery pack built by Williams Advanced Engineering. Teams will develop their own electric motor and be given some leeway over sections of the off...
