New Renault Megane Sedan Joins The Range

The French company finally revealed the saloon version of the new Megane, bringing the total of bodystyles on offer to three, after the hatchback and the estate

Judging from the first photos released, the new four-door saloon -offered under the Grand Coupe name in the UK- is a well-proportioned offering, combining Megane’s familiar front end with a dynamic rear that blends in well with the rest of the styling.

A pair of LED taillights that extend towards Renault’s emblem offer a distinctive lighting signature so the new Renault Megane Sedan can stand out of the crowd whether it’s day or night.

The boot now offers 508lt of capacity, with the company adding a hands-free Easy Trunk Access system. The rest of the car is pretty much standard Megane, meaning the same underpinnings and tech features with the other two bodystyles.

The cabin is the same and includes a seven-inch color TFT display in the driver’s gauges with the dashboard hosting an 8.7-inch portrait-style R-Link 2 infotainment system. Every bit of safety kit first seen on the hatchback and estate model will also be offered here.

Customers will be offered a choice of two petrol and three diesel engine choices, depending on the country. The gasoline range comprises of a naturally aspirated SCe 115 available with a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox and the turbocharged TCe 130 which is also offered either with a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch EDC transmission. The diesel range consists of the dCi 90, the dCi 110 and the dCi 130. All of them are offered with a six-speed manual but the dCi 110 is the only one that can be paired to a six-speed EDC transmission.

Renault will build the new Megane Sedan at their Bursa plant in Turkey and plans to sell it in more than 20 countries around the world, including Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia.
