2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid Unveiled With 455 HP

Porsche’s plug-in hybrid lineup has proven popular with consumers and that success will likely continue in the future as the company has unveiled the 2019 Cayenne E-Hybrid.

Set to go on sale in the United States early next year, the Cayenne E-Hybrid has a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 335 hp (249 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. The model also has a 14.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which powers an electric motor that develops 134 hp (100 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Thanks to this setup, the crossover has a combined maximum output of 455 hp (339 kW).

In terms of performance, the Cayenne E-Hybrid can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 157 mph (252 km/h). Compared to the previous Cayenne S E-Hybrid, these are improvements of 0.7 seconds and 6 mph (9 km/h).

The battery pack is the same size as the one used on the previous Cayenne S E-Hybrid but it now has a higher capacity and an improved energy density. This enables the model to travel up to 44 km (27.3 miles) on electricity alone in the New European Driving Cycle. When driving on electricity, the Cayenne can hit speeds of up to 83 mph (133 km/h).

When the battery is depleted, it can be recharged in approximately 7.8 hours using the standard 3.6 kW onboard charger and a 230-volt connection with 10 amps. That time can be cut to just 2.3 hours with the optional 7.2 kW onboard charger and a 230-volt connection with 32 amps.

Exterior styling changes are limited but include Acid Green brake calipers and special badges with Acid Green accents. The model also comes with a dedicated charging port.

The minor changes continue in the cabin as designers installed Acid Green accents as well as hybrid-specific displays in the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The model also comes with additional standard equipment including an Auxiliary Cabin Conditioning system, the Sport Chrono Package and the Porsche Active Suspension Management system.

In conjunction with the launch of the Cayenne E-Hybrid, Porsche will also introduce several new features to the broader Cayenne lineup. Highlights include a heated windshield, a head-up display and massaging seats. Customers will also be able to order 22-inch wheels on a Porsche for the first time.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid will be priced from $79,900 excluding a $1,050 delivery, processing and handling fee.
