Next-Gen Suzuki Swift Sport To Switch To A Turbo Engine
The hot version of the upcoming Swift is going to ditch its naturally aspirated powertrain in favor of a turbocharged 1,4-litre Boosterjet unit. Autocar reports that the next Swift Sport is going to be powered by an upgraded version of the 138hp 1.4-litre engine found in the current Vitara S crossover , with the new model expected to tip the scales close to the 1,000 kg mark. The current model has bucked the downsizing trend, combining a high-revving 136hp 1.6-litre with a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox. Despite the switch to turbo power, Suzuki’s new hot hatch will try to stay as close as possible to the fun to drive character of its predecessors when it will hit the market in the second half of 2017.
