Next-Gen Suzuki Swift Sport To Switch To A Turbo Engine

Image
The hot version of the upcoming Swift is going to ditch its naturally aspirated powertrain in favor of a turbocharged 1,4-litre Boosterjet unit.  Autocar  reports that the next Swift Sport is going to be powered by an upgraded version of the 138hp 1.4-litre engine found  in the current Vitara S crossover , with the new model expected to tip the scales close to the 1,000 kg mark. The current model has bucked the downsizing trend, combining a high-revving 136hp 1.6-litre with a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox. Despite the switch to turbo power, Suzuki’s new hot hatch will try to stay as close as possible to the fun to drive character of its predecessors when it will hit the market in the second half of 2017.  Images of the standard 2017 Suzuki Swift  have been leaked  a couple of months ago, revealing the similar design approach of the Japanese company, albeit with a sharper outcome.  Standard models are expected to also use the company’s  n...

One-Off 458 MM Speciale Is Ferrari Catering To A Customer's Request

Image
Ferrari's  alleged entry-level V6-powered Dino  previously scooped has turned out to be an in-house designed supercar called 458 MM Speciale.  The exotic uses the same chassis and running gear as the  458 Speciale  and was designed by Ferrari Styling Center for a wealthy customer, who demanded a new bodywork handcrafted in aluminum with composite carbon fiber bumpers on both ends.  On top of the  regular 458 Speciale , the 458 MM Speciale sports black-painted A-pillars for a "visor" effect of the glasshouse, sweptback C-pillars, new side air scoop that provides additional cooling of the engine bay and a rear spoiler for increased downforce. It is finished in Bianco Italia and pays homage to the Italian flag, whose colors runs across its entire length.  The  modified front and rear light clusters  help it stand out furthermore and completing its exterior design is a fresh set of wheels, designed exclusively for it. In the cockpit, upgr...

Evantra Millecavalli unleashed with 1,000 horsepower

Image
Codenamed “EV-R,” the Evantra Millecavalli is far from being a pure electric vehicle as the internal code would suggest. After a very long teaser campaign, Italian specialty marque Mazzanti Automobili is finally showing us the final version of the car which will be on display between June 8 and 12 at the 2016 Salone Auto Torino in Italy. Billed as being the “most powerful street-legal hypercar ever built in Italy,” the Evantra Millecavalli is motivated by a newly developed biturbo 7.2-liter V8 engine. The massive unit is able to hit the magical 1,000-hp mark and generates a peak torque in excess of 886 pound-feet (1,200 Nm). Looking like a hardcore version of the original Evantra, the Millecavalli will run to 60 mph (96 kph) from a standstill in just 2.7 seconds. There’s no word about top speed, but it should be pretty high taking into account how much power the supercar packs. In addition, weight is likely very low since the regular 224-mph Evantra tips the scal...

Could This Be McLaren's New 688HS Special?

Image
A few months ago, we brought you the first info on a possible  hotter version of the McLaren 675LT , backed up by what seemed to be a  scooped prototype , and now, we have what is being alleged to be official photos of the car. These purportedly leaked images surfaced on  Autogespot ,  which claims that we are indeed looking at the real deal, but as usual, until McLaren steps forward and makes a statement, we have to take them with a grain of salt.  From what we can see,  visual changes  on top of the 675LT count the extensive use of carbon fiber on the body, including the new front bumper that will increase downforce, the roof scoop and a GT3-inspired large rear wing, coming with a Formula 1-like Drag Reduction System (DRS).  Reportedly named 688HS for High Sport, the  supercar will supposedly  benefit from a total of 688 PS (678 HP), meaning 13 PS (13 HP) more than what the 675LT has to offer. The extra punch, combined with an alleg...

Guess what BMW's '30 Years M3' special edition celebrates

Image
It's anniversaries on top of anniversaries at  BMW  in 2016. The company celebrated its 100th year of existence at  an elaborate celebration in March , last week we got  a new hommage concept  to mark five decades since the iconic 2002 debuted.  This celebratory sports sedan gets the not-quite-grammatical name of "30 Years M3," which is totally grammatical when translated back into German ("30 Jahre M3"), and BMW plans to build just 500 of them for the whole world.   What makes it neat besides rarity? It comes with pretty much everything you can get on a standard M3, including the  Competition package  with its 444-horsepower  engine  tune, Adaptive M  suspension , and Active M differential. To that it adds an M exhaust with black tips, the requisite dash plaque, shouty door sills, and unique "30 Years M3" badges on the fender gills. The interior has special  seats  with gray or blue inserts and stitched headre...

Renault Reveals Crazy Special 275HP Clio RS 16 Concept

Image
This is Renault Sport’s fastest model so far, the special Clio RS 16 concept which uses the powertrain out of a Megane RS 275 Trophy R. We were expecting from Renault  to add some power into the Clio RS  but the French company surprised everyone in Monaco with their decision to shoehorn the engine and manual gearbox from the hardcore Megane into the lighter Clio RS. Built to celebrate Renault Sport’s 40th anniversary, the new Renault Clio RS 16 concept was revealed at the hands of F1 driver Kevin Magnussen at the Monaco Grand Prix. The company was keen to present a fully engineered car, so this special Clio features several enhancements in its chassis and suspension derived directly from motorsport applications.  “In theory, a Clio R.S. fitted with our most powerful engine – the 275bhp, 2.0-litre turbo engine – was an attractive proposition, but we had to conduct more serious checks as regards its feasibility”, said Managing Director Patrice Ratti. “In less than a mont...

2017 Nissan GT-R NISMO Makes Official Debut

Image
Nissan launched their most hardcore version of the 2017 GT-R at the Nurburgring, the same place where it was developed, tested and signed off. Just like the standard GT-R, the NISMO version comes with a restyled front end, highlighted by a new and more aggressive bumper, a larger dark chrome V-motion grille and a reinforced hood that's supposed to avoid deformation at extremely high speeds. However, unlike  the regular model , the NISMO's front bumpers are made out of carbon fiber as designers looked to achieve the ideal amount of stiffness in a car built specifically for breaking lap records. Overall, the new GT-R NISMO generates more downforce than any other Nissan production car to date. In terms of power, while the regular 2017 GT-R puts down 570 PS (20 PS more than the 2016 model), the NISMO is good for 600 PS (441 kW), the same as before but more enjoyable thanks to the stiffened body structure and upgraded shock absorbers, springs and stabilizers. Compared to the  la...

Subaru’s 2017 BRZ Facelift In New Photos & Video

Image
Most of the upgrades and  updates on the 2017 BRZ  are common with the facelifted Scion FR-S that will be sold as the Toyota 86 after the demise of the Scion brand this fall. Subaru promises enhanced performance for the 6-speed manual model that gets a lower final drive ratio from 4.1 to 4.3:1 along with a 5hp and 5-lb-ft boost to 205hp and 156 lb-ft of torque respectively for its 2.0L boxer engine, thanks to a new aluminum intake manifold and redesigned exhaust manifold for increased air flow. The 6sp automatic version retains the outgoing model’s 200hp and 151 lb-ft four-pot. All models gets a revised chassis with updated coil springs and dampers along with a larger rear stabilizer bar, reinforced strut tower braces, transmission cross-member plate and rear wheel housings, plus increased thresholds for the stability control system. An Incline Start Assist system that prevents the car from rolling back now comes as standard.   Those demanding better handling can opt f...
