New Ginetta Supercar Is Coming With Carbon Body And Chassis, 600+ HP

Image
Ginetta is about to unveil a road-legal supercar, with full details to be announced soon. Until they do, they gave a few insights about their upcoming model, which will utilize a carbon fiber tub chassis and a full carbon body. Powering it will be a naturally aspirated V8 that’s been designed and built in-house. The unit will put out in excess of 600 horsepower and will be linked to a sequential gearbox. “We’ve come a long way in 60 years, but we still believe Ginetta has great untapped potential”, said chairman Lawrence Tomlinson. “In the 1960s, our G10 was a giant killer on and off the track, regularly beating Jaguar E-Types. Sixty years on, we’re again applying knowledge and technology from our racing programs to build an uncompromised yet utterly capable road-going supercar.” Accompanying the announcement are a couple of teaser images that preview the supercar. Its design seems to have been heavily inspired by the G55, a track weapon unveiled at the end of 2010 and powe...

2020 Renault Clio Is Ready To Conquer The Supermini Segment

Image
Renault is bringing the heat on the Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta and other B-segment hatchbacks with the fifth generation Clio. The exterior images released by the automaker only a day after they detailed the cabin reveal an evolutionary styling, which is nonetheless entirely new. The front end of the car has a bigger grille, a more muscular hood, new bumper and LED headlights with incorporated C-shaped DRLs that resemble those of the Megane. The taillights feature a C-shaped signature as well and the Clio’s sleek profile has been enhanced. Compared to the outgoing model, the Clio V is 14 mm (0.55 in) shorter and the body has been lowered by 30 mm (1.18 in) to improve the aerodynamic. However, despite being slightly smaller, the CMF-B platform has allowed for a clever packaging, which opens up more space for occupants. The boot space has increased by 26 liters (0.92 cu-ft), to 391 liters (13.8 cu-ft) with the rear seats in position and is, according to Renault, the la...

Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer SUV Concept Teased, Will Premiere At Geneva

Image
Mitsubishi has kicked off the launch campaign of the Engelberg Tourer, an SUV concept which will be officially unveiled on March 5 at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, with the release of a dark image that’s teasing its front end. Named after the Swiss winter sport resort, the study will “bring further developments in SUV styling and practicality, along with a focus on next-generation technology and enhanced EV performance”, says Mitsubishi. Given the short reference to the Outlander PHEV, which is still successful in certain markets such as the United Kingdom, where it has been on sale since 2014, the show car could offer a glimpse into the next-generation model. Like ’em or hate ’em, gigantic grilles are the thing these days, and the Engelberg Tourer Concept has one, too, that’s flanked by the slim headlights and C-shaped lighting units. There’s a front skid plate, the hood has a clean design and moving further back we can see that the traditional side mirrors have been replaced b...

New Polestar 2 Four-Door Coupe Teaser Is The Most Revealing Yet

Image
Polestar is almost ready to uncover their second product, the ‘2’, but not before teasing it a bit more. The above image was discovered in an official mobile app that allows users to explore some features of the Android-based HMI infotainment system that will equip the car. It shows a couple of angular creases on the hood and a large panoramic roof. The image also provides another glimpse of the LED lighting units, with the rear ones being joined together by a light strip, as previewed in another teaser released a few weeks ago. The Polestar 2 is a four-door coupe equipped with a zero-emission powertrain that’ll rival the Tesla Model 3. The electric motor(s) will produce around 395 hp (400 PS / 294 kW), according to the automaker, whereas the battery pack will allow it to travel for roughly 300 miles (482 km). Although there’s no official word on its launch, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Polestar 2 debuts at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, given that the event is just a lit...

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and S10+ leaked yet again

Image
There’s less than a month to go before Samsung unveils its next flagship smartphones in San Francisco, but the devices have already been roundly leaked. The latest images come from German tech site AllAboutSamsung, and show what looked to be the Galaxy S10 and S10+ from the front, back and sides. Not much new information is revealed in these photos, but they do offer a clearer view of the dual-lens, hole-punch camera on the S10+ and what seems to be a refreshed UI. Other than that we can also see the new “Infinity-O” display, with its thin bezels and slight chin at the bottom of the device, and a familiar-looking bottom edge, complete with SIM card slot, USB-C port, and headphone jack (phew). From previous reports, we’re expecting Samsung to be announcing at least three new Galaxy S10 devices at its Unpacked event on February 20th, ranging in size from 5.8-inches to 6.4 inches. Some rumors have even suggested there will be a fourth Galaxy phone: a 6.7-inch, six-camera 5G “ann...

Aston Martin Valkyrie Gets AMR Track Performance Pack

Image
Aston Martin has confirmed reports that the road-legal Valkyrie hypercar will be available with an AMR Track Performance Pack. The British automaker has also detailed the personalization programme for the vehicle. As the name of the AMR Track Performance Pack suggests, it will make the road-legal Valkyrie that little bit faster on a racetrack but not quite rival the track-only Valkyrie AMR Pro. The performance pack includes a new aerodynamic front clam to improve downforce and efficiency, lightweight titanium brakes, matte black magnesium performance wheels, a carbon fiber aero wheel disk set, and track-focused suspension. Aston Martin says the alterations will make the Valkyrie roughly 8 per cent quicker than the standard model. Customers that opt for the AMR Track Performance Pack will also be provided with a second set of all exterior body panels. The track-only components can also be quickly interchanged with the road-legal parts. As you would expect from a hyperca...

Honda Teases Geneva Motor Show-Bound EV Prototype

Image
Honda has confirmed a previous report concerning anew electric vehicle prototype that will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The automaker has also released an early design sketch of the pre-production study, and it’s pretty clear we’re dealing with the electric city car previewed by the Urban EV Concept at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Honda says the new vehicle is developed “with a focus on functionality and purpose and the prototype sketch demonstrates this through its clean, simple and unique design.” The sketch reveals a very similar design to the Urban EV study, with highlights including the round LED headlights, black “grille” that may or may not display messages to other drivers, a black element at the center of the bonnet, and rearview cameras instead of conventional mirrors. As spy photos have shown last year, the production model will switch from a three-door to a five-door layout, with the interior offering five seats instead of the concept’s four. ...

Renault Twingo Gets Subtle Facelift, New 1.0L Engine For 2019MY

Image
Renault has given its Twingo city car its first facelift since the third-generation was launched in 2014. While the mid-cycle makeover doesn’t bring major styling changes, it enhances the Twingo’s personalization options both inside and outside. Furthermore, the rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive city car gets a new engine and connectivity upgrades. Styling-wise, the 2019MY Twingo adopts a new front bumper with a smaller lower grille and side air inlets, new graphics for the main grille, and refreshed headlamps with integrated C-shape LED DRLs that replace the round standalone units on the outgoing model. The refreshed rear bumper gains new chrome decorative trims but loses the diffuser-like element. A much-needed update is the addition of a handle on the glass tailgate, just below the wiper. Some models also gain an engine air intake on the rear fender that improves cooling. The updated city car also welcomes two new colors to the palette: Mango Yellow and Quartz White. I...

First Official Look At Geely’s Coupe SUV Codenamed FY11

Image
Geely has released official uncensored photos of its first coupe SUV, codenamed FY11. There was no point in trying to keep the car hidden following last week’s leaked photos that showed the car in full so Geely dropped the curtain on the coupe SUV. The photos bring no surprises compared to what we saw last week, however. The FY11 still looks like a generic coupe SUV heavily inspired by the BMW X4 but dismissing it as unattractive would be rather unfair. It’s not original, that’s for sure, but very few new cars are like that nowadays. The FY11 will be Geely’s third vehicle to launch this year, in addition to the all-electric sedan teased earlier this month and an all-new MPV. The coupe SUV will also be Geely’s first model based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) that was jointly developed with Volvo Cars in Sweden. According to the Chinese carmaker, the use of this platform has allowed the creation of a vehicle with “true sporting credentials, from powertrain to desig...

After almost three years in the market and more than 60,000 units sold, the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid and PHEV have been given a facelift. Three more colors have been added to the palette, called Fluidic Metal, Electric Shadow and Liquid Sand. Inside, the 2020 Ioniq has a redesigned control panel for the heating and air conditioning, with a glossy look. Moreover, there’s now an optional 10.25-inch display available for the infotainment system, a first in the segment according to the automaker. It provides access to different functions of the car and features voice recognition as part of the Bluelink telematics services, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Hyundai Live Services. All versions of the facelifted Ioniq are equipped the SmartSense technology package, which brings Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist, among other...
